UK:GSW Chapter 415 – Lonely Old Madara, Surfing the Net Alone

In the main world, Uchiha Madara had been in a foul mood lately.

Or rather, ever since that guy named Uzumaki Kenxin appeared in the genjutsu game and joined the two-person world he shared with Muzi, he had been in a foul mood.

What annoyed Uchiha Madara the most was that this damned Uzumaki Kenxin happened to be Muzi's fiancé—utterly shattering the serene, fatherly mindset he had developed toward Muzi, in which he was fully immersed in the elderly lifestyle of raising and accompanying her.

And the most frustrating thing was that even though Uzumaki Kenxin practically got in his face to taunt him—almost outright saying, "Old man, I've parked my Ghost Fire outside your building. Keep an eye on it for me, and if it's stolen, expect to receive a pregnancy notice from your daughter"—Uchiha Madara could only endure it.

After all, in front of Muzi, Uchiha Madara had never revealed his true identity, always presenting himself merely as "Retired Hidden Leaf ninja Radama."

In this situation, his relationship with Muzi was only that of a friendship across generations, with him as a senior who looked after her. And with such an identity, when it came to marriage matters in the Hidden Leaf, he could at best offer some advice—he had no authority to interfere.

This only made Uchiha Madara more irritable, the anger in his chest brewing as if it could set the land ablaze.

But considering his age, such intense liver fire could very well harm his health. Even with the system-produced "couch potato meal sets" that nourished his body—already making him noticeably plumper over time—his weight had unknowingly surpassed 160 pounds. Unlike in his youth, when he had been all muscle, he now carried quite a bit of fat.

Of course, in Uchiha Madara's view, this body shape meant good fortune. In his era, even for the Uchiha clan, eating one's fill was difficult.

As the clan's strongest member and leader, he could claim the largest share of resources, but that only meant eating enough—not eating well. The high-intensity battles and harsh survival conditions kept him from ever relaxing his training, which meant he never got to enjoy such "fortune."

In that environment, being well-fed and chubby was considered a sign of wealth and luck.

Although the Akimichi clan was known for their entire family being large, that was due to their secret techniques, and even during the Warring States period, not all of them were chubby.

In reality, due to limited resources and productivity, only a small number of Akimichi could grow large, nurtured by the clan's collective effort. Those were the clan's pillars, fed for the sake of strength.

The rest? Many were just as skinny as—or even skinnier than—average people, since most resources went to the clan's strongest.

So in those days, being fat wasn't a flaw—it was a symbol of good fortune.

For Uchiha Madara, this was no different. He didn't see his weight gain as an issue; in fact, he considered it great.

Compared to the gaunt, grave-ready figure he'd been a year ago, he now felt healthy and full of life—so much so that he believed he could live another ten years, enough to watch Muzi marry and have children.

…Wait. Why was he thinking about watching Muzi marry and have children?

No! Absolutely not! Uchiha Madara, how could you have such terrifying thoughts?!

Even if the Hidden Leaf must one day marry and bear children, it must not be this soon!

At the very least—it must not be with that bastard Uzumaki Kenxin!

So stop imagining such horrible things, dammit!!!

Clutching his head, Uchiha Madara let out a pained cry, feeling his temper flare even hotter.

In the Hidden Leaf's underground secret base, the White Zetsu observed Madara clutching his head and twitching as if he were ill, all looking confused and baffled.

Among them, White Zetsu "Afei" asked with concern, "Lord Madara, what's wrong? Are you feeling unwell? Do you need me to possess you?"

Hearing this, Uchiha Madara snapped out of his mental spiral, waved his hand expressionlessly, and said, "It's nothing. I just thought of some things."

Then, he picked up a cola and burger, eating and drinking with his usual blank expression.

Still, it was obvious that the "happy drink" and "happy meal" improved his mood, the delicious and filling taste bringing him comfort.

However, to Afei, Madara's lifestyle seemed unhealthy—eating, drinking, and gaming every day, his belly fat visibly jiggling when he moved. It just didn't match the aura of the "Shura of the Ninja World."

That was only Afei's subjective impression, though, and he didn't say it aloud.

Mostly because Madara was clearly in a bad mood, and Afei feared being lectured. His status had fallen; he was no longer indispensable to Madara.

A fallen favorite was worse off than a dog.

The dejected Afei sighed.

Once Madara had finished his burger and cola and was in a better mood, the old man logged back into the genjutsu game.

Yes, even though he disliked Uzumaki Kenxin, there was no way he'd give up spending time with Muzi, gaming with the reincarnation of his best friend, and enjoying the "daughter-raising" experience.

Give up on that? Not even in ten thousand years!

But when he logged in, he noticed Muzi wasn't online, making him frown slightly. In his message inbox sat a note from her.

Opening it, he saw that Muzi had written she'd be away for a few days and unable to play, letting "Radama-senpai" know.

Though Madara frowned, he didn't dwell on it.

After all, Muzi's public identity was as a member of the Hidden Leaf's Senju clan, a ninja. Going on missions was normal.

Even though the Hidden Leaf's development had shifted from the past, requiring different types of missions, some still needed to be performed outside the village.

Muzi had gone on missions before, and Madara had always remained calm, never worrying for her safety—because long ago he had ordered the White Zetsu to secretly protect her whenever she left.

He trusted the White Zetsu's stealth and rescue abilities.

…Still unaware, of course, that all the White Zetsu had been turned against him—except Afei, who stayed by his side due to his special nature, never having the chance to leave. Whether he was loyal or not didn't even matter.

After all, when everyone else around you is a traitor, the one person who isn't is the easiest to fool.

Still, without Muzi, his genjutsu gaming life felt incomplete, draining his motivation.

It was like playing a game without a friend—you didn't even know why you logged in.

At times like these, Madara would usually play single-player games, solo battles, or enter the "Homestead" game to idle in the home he and Muzi had built together.

It was like living a peaceful retirement after a lifetime of battle.

Truly, Madara's life was fulfilling.

But this time, he did something different—he went to browse the official forums.

These forums were a new type of social platform born with the rise of the genjutsu network. While initiated by Uchiha Qi, they had only recently become popular—since users often needed time to adapt to and embrace new things.

Now, these platforms had truly taken off.

Many players shared their thoughts there, freely exchanging opinions with strangers.

Of course, there were also plenty of extreme views.

As mentioned in earlier chapters, these platforms were subtly managed by invisible hands. They seemed to allow absolute free speech, with any wild opinion permitted—so long as it targeted forces outside the Hidden Leaf. Any comments against the Leaf itself, especially those harming unity, would be deleted.

Even so, for the genjutsu network's citizens, these platforms were already wonderfully free spaces to speak.

Madara liked them—many posts were aggressive, matching his values.

For example, one person argued that today's chaos in the ninja world was largely the fault of the "God of Shinobi" and the "Shura of the Ninja World." They claimed that if Hashirama Senju and Uchiha Madara had been more ruthless back then—foregoing the creation of the Hidden Leaf and continuing war until the ninja world was unified—the world would not be as it was now.

Even if such a unification war failed, the two could have made the Land of Fire the most terrifying and powerful superpower, dominating the ninja world.

Then, the Hidden Leaf and the Land of Fire could have established a new order of peace, avoiding the repeated Ninja World Wars of the past decades.

This poster, using a view considered blasphemous in the ninja world, expressed dissatisfaction with Hashirama and Madara—accusing them of lacking the vision to erase national divisions, the foundation of true peace.

If those two had had higher ideals, the ninja world would have been beautiful long ago.

Many disagreed with this, thinking the claim unrealistic. Most people didn't truly understand how strong Hashirama and Madara had been—thinking them only slightly above other village founders. Otherwise, why would they have stopped at creating one village instead of something greater?

Not doing it must mean they couldn't do it—right?

That was the common belief. People could not imagine the "God of Shinobi" being so peace-obsessed that he would kneel before other ninja to beg for it.

Nor could they imagine that someone like Hashirama—capable of obliterating the ninja world—was content with founding one village, opposing his equally strong best friend's idea of unifying the world by force. Truly, the most saintly figure the ninja world had ever seen.

These things were so absurd they sounded like fantasy tales—and so no one who hadn't seen them would believe they were real.

Some things are so far beyond imagination that people refuse to believe them, dismissing them as fiction.

Which is why this poster stood out—few knew the truth of Hashirama and Madara's strength, making his post seem like nonsense.

But Madara knew it was true. He agreed with every word, even thinking it entirely correct.

It left him feeling wistful—these days, few knew how great he and Hashirama had been. He regretted that Hashirama hadn't shared his vision—if they'd unified the world back then, peace would already be reality.

Of course, it wasn't too late. Under the Eye of the Moon Plan, the ninja world would have true, eternal peace.

After carefully reading the post, Madara sneered at those who disagreed and memorized the poster's ID.

"'Evangelist of the Ninth Art'? Strange name. What is the Ninth Art? Whatever—it's noted. An insightful junior with sharp vision. Rare in this era."

After following this ID, he moved on to other posts.

Soon, he spotted something else that caught his interest—

A post from a major in-game enemy.

ID: Tamamo-no-Mae.

Yes—it was from the Nine-Tails, Tamamo-no-Mae.

Thanks to the game's balance adjustments, the gap between strong and weak was greatly narrowed. Even a tailed beast once crushed and treated like a pet by Madara could now stand against him.

With insider access, Tamamo-no-Mae had far more practice time than ordinary players—more even than Madara himself.

This erased their talent gap, making her one of the very top players in the genjutsu game—on Madara's level.

Thus, in many matches, Madara—never one to hold back against women—often teamed up with Muzi to fight Tamamo-no-Mae. They weren't friends, but they were very familiar with each other.

So upon seeing her post, his curiosity naturally made him click.
