UK:GSW Chapter 465. The Sage of Six Paths Joins the Team Beating Up the Otsutsuki

The Sage of Six Paths, Hagoromo Otsutsuki, gained new life. He finally understood the feelings of mortals and realized what mortals actually need.

Peace? Beauty? Mutual understanding between people?

Bullshit!

All of that is the self-righteous bullshit of those perched on high!

Yes—what he himself had once done, what he had once pursued, was empty, powerless, self-important crap!

He thought himself great and idealistic, acting for the ninja world and for all humankind, yet he never solved the most fundamental issues. He was merely a self-important daydreamer—a fool with invincible power who never once set his gaze on the lowest, most numerous people.

Yes, that was the Sage of Six Paths' evaluation of his former self; he truly felt a thick sense of shame and loathing toward who he used to be.

No—he even felt a strong aversion to the very title "Sage of Six Paths," and that aversion had grown to an extreme. It was a genuine state of "I hate myself."

Nothing to be done: Uchiha Kei had arranged a "set menu" for the Sage of Six Paths—letting him properly experience the key nodes of history. The Sage of Six Paths lived as a soldier and as a commoner, as a scholar and as a general. In each "reincarnation," his previous memories were sealed so that he truly believed he was a mortal; only when each "reincarnation" ended could he recall many things.

After experiencing all sorts of events in history, so that he understood the tides of history and how mortals fight endlessly for living space and for power and desire, he was then made—both as a citizen of the Land of Fire and as a foreigner—to live through everything from the Great Age of Sail to the Industrial Age, so he could understand the course and changes of human civilization.

Later, he was made to encounter those brilliant epochs when humanity's stars shone. The Sage of Six Paths lived many lives in many identities, approached those great figures both from afar and up close, and from them learned many great ideals.

Finally, as a soldier, he followed a certain figure who had experienced it all; this truly made him understand the power contained in the word "people," thereby completing a thorough cleansing of the Sage of Six Paths from the inside out.

To put it plainly, this entire series of experiences used long spans of repeated reincarnation and the impact of many lives to shatter the Sage of Six Paths' pride and lofty perspective as the son of Kaguya Otsutsuki—as the "child of god"—and made him look at the world from the viewpoint of mortals, of the bottom rung, to understand what people truly need.

Hoping the world will be forever at peace and that people will mutually understand one another is certainly a great ideal. But if such an ideal never proceeds from reality—if it fails to solve even the most basic needs of survival and material goods—then it is pure utopianism, self-important posturing from on high.

Unfortunately, the former Sage of Six Paths could not understand this at all. All he pursued throughout his life were things like castles in the air; he never set his gaze upon the roots, nor did he understand the importance of a solid foundation. The ultimate result was a thousand years of turmoil in the ninja world.

Although Black Zetsu was the primary culprit behind that thousand-year turmoil, the Sage of Six Paths knew full well that he himself could hardly shirk responsibility. He was the creator of the ninja world's new order, and this creator did many absurd things: the system had problems as countless as cattle's hair, and he never truly used the power of chakra to make people better.

Although this had much to do with the era and with ways of thinking, the Sage of Six Paths would not classify the issue as such, because he felt that a problem is a problem and a mistake is a mistake; other factors do not change that.

To retreat ten thousand steps, some issues actually have nothing to do with the era. Even in ancient times, many things could have been solved; it was only because he had grown used to standing on high that he never considered such questions, thereby overlooking those tiny yet extremely important matters.

In short, it was all the Sage of Six Paths' fault—"I, Hagoromo Otsutsuki, am deeply ashamed".jpg.

With such extreme feelings, the Sage of Six Paths joined Uchiha Kei's ranks to fight for a better future for the ninja world. And when faced with the fact that Naruto and Sasuke had already activated their "cheats," although he felt a bit speechless and rueful, he said nothing and even asked whether his help was needed.

All one can say is that this wave of "meticulous revolution" was truly thorough.

After that, information on the Otsutsuki clan was naturally conveyed to the Sage of Six Paths. He learned that the ninja world still had such terrifying enemies, and he came to understand what his mother had been fleeing back then.

This made the Sage of Six Paths feel under tremendous pressure; however, when he thought of the ninja world's present situation and the wondrous methods Uchiha Kei and the others had displayed, he relaxed again—and the feeling was unfamiliar.

It couldn't be helped: he had always been the "tall one" responsible for holding up the sky when it collapsed, and upon suddenly discovering that there were even taller people who could hold up the sky, he naturally produced a strong and subtle feeling.

Still, the Sage of Six Paths did not dislike that feeling, and he was quite happy to offer whatever help he could.

Thus, like his younger brother Hamura Otsutsuki, the Sage of Six Paths became one of the heroic spirits under Uchiha Kei's banner, and he quickly joined the grand plan to clear the No. 2 Ninja World's "secret stage."

This so-called "secret stage" was, of course, the Sage of Six Paths brothers of the No. 2 Ninja World, the No. 2 Kaguya, and Isshiki Otsutsuki, who was hidden in the shadows and still present to this day.

Moreover, upon learning that within at most a little over a dozen years the No. 2 Ninja World would suffer an attack by other Otsutsuki from beyond the heavens, the Sage of Six Paths felt all the more that time waited for no one.

Indeed, a dozen-odd years is not short; yet for someone like the Sage of Six Paths—whose mindset was in essence that of a long-lived being—a dozen-odd years did not count as long at all. It made him want to act immediately and resolve all the problems of the No. 2 Ninja World at once.

Mm, although much had changed, some things had not—such as personal heroism.

But that, too, is only natural, and cannot be called wrong. The ninja world is a transcendent world where power can truly be gathered into oneself.

In such a transcendent world, saying "don't engage in personal heroism" simply fails to consider objective laws.

If one truly wants to reach a point where personal heroism is unnecessary, one must complete the super tech tree of genetic engineering and let the people of the ninja world accomplish collective genetic ascension—there's no helping it. Compared with other routes of technological ascension, the ninja world, having been deeply influenced by the Otsutsuki clan, naturally possesses the prerequisites for genetic ascension. Those prerequisites are laid bare before the ninja world; it is the most likely route and the fastest to achieve ascension.
