Jayvaughn opened his mouth, clearly wanting to ask Axel why it was so impossible to share this important secret right now.

The silence between them was heavy, and the curiosity was eating at him.

However, when he looked at Axel, he saw an expression that stopped him in his tracks. It was a look that practically shouted "please trust me" without saying a single word.

Jayvaughn sighed, the tension leaving his shoulders as he finally decided to yield.

He wasn't going to push, not when Axel looked so burdened. "Fine," Jayvaughn said softly. "Just do whatever you feel you need to do then. I won't ask again until you're ready."

​Axel gave a small, appreciative nod.

He turned around without another word and walked into his computer room, the door clicking shut behind him.

For the next fifteen hours, Axel became a ghost in his own home, buried under a mountain of digital code and thermal archives.
