Chapter 246 - C246 : Boreas

The prison cells run by the Ganesha familia, were currently filled to the brim with those suspected, and confirmed to have worked with Evilus. The scene was clear, there were even some adventurers here with their gods shouting curses at them.

"It seems like the gods were furious enough they feared what they may do if it was left up to them." Shurry sighed.

One of the locked up adventurers, now having their status sealed so they can endure a hellish punishment, saw Shurry and began a most terrible display. He was holding himself against the bars.

"Hero, great hero Origin Wolf, I beg of you save me! I had no part in Evilus! I promise!"

Shurry stopped and took a breath, then let it go.

"Shakti, open that cell."

"But we've already confirmed that he was part of Evilus?"

Shurry mouthed a few words so only she could see, there was no sound.

"Alright, if you say so, I'll let you try your method."

The god gave Shakti a look fully expressing their discontent.

"Shakti Varma, are you doubting my words? A mortal can't lie to us gods without us realizing it. It's impossible."

"There isn't a mortal alive who doesn't know… That's why I'm opening the cell, so my brother-in-law can see it for himself, with his own methods."

That was enough to leave the adventurer confused, while giving the god plenty of information to understand what was about to happen.

"Fine, Origin Wolf, let me see these methods of yours, every part of it… Hold nothing back." He should be smart enough to figure it out with just this, right? Please be the case- Shurry smirked and nodded. Holy shit, he really is smart enough! Thank you, Hathor!!!!!

Shurry was about to go into the cell, he looked at the god, as if inspecting him. "I do not recall your name…?"

"It's Boreas."

"Ah, nice name. And this is an adventurer of your familia?"

"Yes, though I've sealed his power. He acted on his own and killed so many of his fellow familia members, and civilians."

"I see, so, we didn't get rid of all of Evilus' lives then… Seems I have a reason to go and kill that Erebus fuck a few more times… Anyway, would you mind unsealing that power, I won't blame you for what happens."

"I- I swear everything he did was on his own."

"Yeah, just do it already."

"Uh, sure."

A few seconds later, the adventurer had his power as a level 3 back. He was far more confident now. Though he acted like nothing had changed… He looked at Shurry…

What the hell is this guy? He's ridiculously strong, I might as well not have gained any strength.

"Well, tell me. Are you a member of the Boreas familia?"

"Yes."

"I see, you speak the truth… Good, next question, where do your loyalties lay?"

"Boreas-"

Before the man could finish his answer, his head exploded, into a mist so fine the color of it barely changed the stone floors. His headless body went limp flying back into the stone wall, sending a shockwave through the whole Ganesha familia. Shurry stood there holding a bloodless fist straight out… In totally perfect form.

The god Boreas, seeing such perfection, widened his eyes with curiosity. Such speed, and precision! Not to mention the sheer grit it takes to take a life like that.

"Boreas, I will not hold negative feelings towards you, or your familia as a result of anything that sad excuse for a man did. You have my word on that."

"You've done it, you've become a Demi-god-"

"I suggest you not use that term either… I already warned Hestia. It would be best not to call me that without some kind of Denatus at the very least. Besides, if I'm so powerful… No, nevermind… I'd rather not get into it here where the unprepared may hear it. But I'm sure that a god can understand why it's not a good idea…"

"Oh! Uh, yeah… Now that I think of it, that would be rather bad. The same reason we didn't grant you the title of hero, instead settling for something Hero adjacent."

"Alright, Shakti, I'm sure you know why I'm here now."

"I gathered as much. But killing them like this?"

"What? They think it's worth it to kill the weak, and slaughter the innocent… If anything, this is too good a death for them. But, I have a feeling someone is going to be helping me out with that on the other end."

"Very well, I'll take care of the paperwork… And… I'm sorry about what happened-"

"It's not your fault Shakti. No one knew how prepared Evilus would be. I should have killed the lot of them instead of waiting for Freya and Loki to stop dragging their feet." Shurry sighed. "Besides, it's not like you weren't harmed in this either. To you, they took away your future niece or nephew… These bastards here helped them, and even dared to say something worthy of death."

A particular merchant, having gone mad from the daily beatings, started cackling. His chains were run down, a sign that even those weren't spared Shakti's fury.

"That's right, I said what I said! I wanted to make money, what's so wrong with that?"

"Nothing…" Shurry's answer stunned the merchant.

"Huh?"

"I want to make money all the time, I have a hunger that never ceases, I must eat. Fortunately now that I'm older, it has dwindled a bit. But even so, I still need to eat. Everyone does…"

"I thought you'd say I was wrong but here you are agreeing with me… I'm confused?"

"Wanting to make money isn't the problem. It's how you go about it, and how you use it."

"Huh?"

"I have been earning money through my own work, and the help of my many friends. All so we can support ourselves into the future. I use my money to feed my familia, and donated a lot to orphanages in the past. You, on the other hand, wanted to murder people to make money, all out of insatiable mindless desire for money…"

"So what!? What's so wrong with that!? People die all the time!"

"It's how they die that matters. Life is a priceless gift. One you've contributed in robbing others of by the thousands. You know what that makes you?"

"What?"

"A monster with a kill count higher than most any monster… It makes you worse than most monsters, the enemy of all mortals…" Shurry paused, staring the merchant down. "You made yourself the enemy of all mortals, and thus my enemy…"

The last thing the merchant registered was the sight of a snarling werewolf, and then a blinding light severed his head from the rest of his body, which fell, dead, and bleeding out.

Shurry spent the next hour going through the remaining prisoners dealing with each one of them. Some were truly innocent, of those, they were blessed by the god Boreas, at Shurry's request.

"Make sure they stay on the right path, making oneself my enemy is utterly foolish, and incredibly difficult."

"Actually, Origin Wolf? I was hoping I could talk to your mother, Hathor."

"About?"

"About supporting her…"

"You can't just do that, prove you have that drive in a public declaration, within Denatus. And even then I can't say she'll accept."

Shurry and his wives left the prison with Shakti as their guide. Boreas and the other gods were simply stunned by Shurry's efficiency.
