While the other battles were going on, Hedin, and the Gulliver brothers were still without their own opponents. And instead of waiting for the enemy to choose for them, Hedin decided to take charge, and command an attack against a group nearby. A choice he would soon come to regret.
"Grer, were going to take down that group there, and work our way through, even if it takes us time, we're going to try."
"That doesn't seem incredibly fair, but if you say so."
Kaguya who'd been half readying herself for combat, and half teasing Ryuu, suddenly felt the eyes of an attacker upon her form, she responded quickly. Her small katana blocking, and knocking back Grer's greatsword.
After Grer came a Dvalinn attacking with his great hammer which she quickly dodged out of the way with a graceful dance, then responded with a non-leathal strike of her own, a pommel strike right to the side of Dvalinn's helmet, he was sent flying out of the fight in that instant.
Next as if to interrupt her ability to move properly, several bolts of lightning targeted her, causing a few minor injuries. Though the desired effect was not achieved, her focus was not changed…
The Spear wielding Alfrigg, had been up next, and tried to target Kaguya under the supposed duress she'd be under from the magical attacks, however, instead, she deftly moved narrowly dodging the spear thrust, catching it between her arm and torso, to an untrained eye she had been run through… as well as those with a desperate look in their eyes.
"Do it now, I got her!"
The final brother, Berling, came in with his great axe attempting to finish the job, unbothered by the thought of killing his opponent. A testament to the indiscriminate murder in their past… While he was in the air, the smoke cleared just enough for Hedin to see…
"No, Berling, Alfrigg get out of there now. She's playing you like fools."
"What do you mean?"
"It's too late to pull out now." Kaguya spoke for the first time.
She pulled twisting with her full might, hoisting Alfrigg up, and slamming him into Berling, sending both of them tumbling into Grer. Now, all four Gulliver brothers were either unconscious, or completely incapable of moving properly, and were thus down for the count, completely incapable of fighting any longer.
"Well, that sure was fun. Ryuu, you want to take care of the last guy over there?"
"I was going to do that either way, you don't have to order it."
"Remember, don't kill him. Just humiliate him enough, we aren't butchers like them."
"Then let me fight him!" Bell shouted, with a burning rage in his heart.
"Sorry Bell, but remember the promise you made to your Uncle?"
"Huh, yeah…"
"Good. Then you aren't allowed to fight him right now. There'll be plenty more chances in the future alright."
"I'm still not strong enough to avenge my father…"
"It's alright Bell, you'll get there in due time. In a couple more years you'll be a force of nature. Just like me." Meda smiled, proudly snuggling Bell as if they were a bit closer than friends or even siblings.
Hedin let out a sigh, and clicked his glasses as Ryuu took a few slow steps forward, each step holding purpose, and the power generated under the most perfect of conditions, trained and controlled through years of practice, though there was something else hidden within it. Something that Hedin could sense.
"Gale Wind, may I ask you something, elf to elf?"
"What is it?"
"How did you get so strong? It almost feels like you're level 7 right now. What's more, your stride has a powerful purpose hidden inside as if there was an intensity I have yet to witness, let alone contested, or even practiced."
"Because, I trained. I trained with a purpose."
"So, that's the same answer Origin Wolf gives… tell me, is it really something so simple?"
"You can see it?"
"I can now, and I know I have zero hope of defeating you in combat."
"Then let's put it to the test, do try to hold on long enough for me to properly punish you for killing my friend's brother."
Hedin, a storm mage, and Ryuu the Gale wind… the two clashed in what ended up being the most interesting battle in the whole of the war game. Ryuu's fighting techniques were refined, and powerful, each one carrying the weight of her hellish training with Shurry. Hedin, barely managing to hold on, seemingly sensing more and more as the battle continued.
"You know, this is far better than any training I've ever had." Hedin spoke, after dodging Ryuu's sword just enough only a slight cut appeared on his skin.
"Of course it is, the only training that's worse than a fight like this, is something you'll never get the privilege of doing." Ryuu answered, her anger was significantly less than the others in her familia, after all, she never knew Alraj, but that didn't change the fact she wanted to push herself to her limits… which made her feel disappointed with this fight. "You're much weaker than I expected you'd be."
"Sorry to hear that, it's not for lack of trying…"
"Really? Then, in that case, try harder."
Ryuu picked up the pace as if she'd only been warming up since the beginning, causing Hedin to lose track of his opponent, and receive a flurry of punishment from what felt like all angles. It was a blitz of speed that shocked everyone watching.
As Hedin was being brutalized, the loki veteran trio of Bara, Dain, and Noir were defeated in a truly one-sided manner. Shortly after them, Gareth lost to Asta.
It wasn't much longer after Ryuu began, that Hedin was completely incapacitated, falling to the ground, unconscious and heavily injured, he was still alive. Right around the same time he fell down, Allen had been defeated in single combat, each of his limbs broken, but not nearly as bad as his pride.
Next to fall was Hogni, immediately following him was Finn… resulting in one of the two generals being defeated. In other words, all that remained was Ottar… and a mountain of rubble that used to be a castle.
