Chapter 32 - The Price of Being Watched

The morning sun cast a clean glow across the East Wing barrier gate as more than forty students and neighborhood survivors pressed against the perimeter line.

"Look at the crowd gathered beyond the perimeter posts," the dark-haired striker noted, resting one hand lightly on the grip of her cutter.

"They have been watching our blue barrier all morning after seeing your auction broadcast on their handheld terminals."

"Our sentries report that representatives from three separate campus wings are standing in the front row," the shield guardian added, adjusting the reinforced barricade beside the checkpoint.

"The language department, the vocational building, and two independent classroom factions sent emissaries."

"They spent four long days hiding in dark classrooms eating stale snacks while mutated beasts roamed the corridors," the frost specialist observed, holding a stack of clean parchment ledgers.
