A few Fusion Army soldiers exchanged glances, thinking Hikaru was spouting nonsense.
But Hikaru's past actions made them unable to dismiss the possibility.
"If we just rely on monsters, it should be impossible to defeat this Pendulum Overlord, right?" Yugo discussed on his side.
Serena tilted her head. She could think of a card Hikaru could use to instantly resolve this situation: the Quick-Play Spell Card, Super Polymerization, which she had seen her Master use before.
If Super Polymerization was used, this situation would be cleared instantly.
However, from Master's demeanor, it seemed he didn't want to use Super Polymerization?
Or perhaps he disdained using Super Polymerization?

At the Fusion Army base, while other soldiers worried, Yuri watched with a smile.
Unlike the others, he wasn't worried about whether Leo Akaba would lose or not. He was more curious about how Hikaru would use Fusion to overcome Master Spirit Tech Force - Pendulum Ruler.
Fusion Summoning a Normal Monster definitely wouldn't work. If he used a Spell Card for Fusion, he had many choices. Besides Super Polymerization, he could also use Ivy Castle to negate the effects of all cards on the opponent's field, but using Ivy Castle Citadel seemed a bit inconsistent with "Fusion."
At the very least, he could choose to use cards like Book of Moon to set Pendulum Ruler face-down and win.
However, the cards Hikaru had in his hand, Flame Swordsdance and Salamandra with Chain, would require one turn to set Pendulum Ruler face-down. If he passed another turn, even if Pendulum Ruler was set face-down, the Professor could flip the monster back up later, which wouldn't change the situation at all.
After all, Hikaru's tactics and playstyle had always been to only perform Fusion.

But if Hikaru wanted to stick to "Fusion," then it would be impossible to defeat it!
As long as Pendulum Ruler was on the field, even Hikaru's ace Infernoid Tierra would lose its effect. How could he win by just relying on Fusion?

Although many people might not have seen Temple of the Kings use its second effect, that card was indeed a Fusion, and it was a Fusion that directly Special Summoned a Fusion Monster.
However, Hikaru now had other choices.

The vortex of Fusion twisted wildly in the air. The Pendulum monster, which should have been able to lock down all non-Pendulum monsters, was dragged violently toward the sky, while Chlamydosundew leapt willingly into the vortex.
Yet, though the two monsters spun madly in the air, the Fusion simply... did not happen.

"Ha, there is no power of the swinging soul within you!" Seeing this, Leo Akaba was instantly like a man who had crawled out of an ice cave and found a bottle of water in the desert. "You - you cannot Fuse away a Pendulum monster!"
Is that how it is?
Hikaru had only wanted to Fusion Summon Starved Venemy Dragon, but since things had taken this turn, there were other options. He opened his Extra Deck, found a card that was only half-complete, and spoke: "Serena... although it's regrettable, it's time for you to make your choice."
