Chapter 282 - Chapter 282: Urashiki Arrives

Night.

After a day of drinking and messing around, Kiyosuke and Jiraiya stumbled back to the inn, completely drunk, and collapsed into bed.

Naruto soon drifted off as well.

Sasuke and Boruto sat together.

Boruto asked,

"Is this really okay? Kiyosuke-sama clearly knows about his own death and wants to prevent it. If he survives, that would be good for Dad, Mom, and even all of Konoha. But… changing the future and all that…"

He was still uneasy, worried their presence might alter the course of events.

Adult Sasuke said,

"Ōtsutsuki Urashiki came to this era just to target the Nine-Tails inside Naruto. That alone proves the future can be changed. Kiyosuke-sama surviving will definitely matter."

Even though Urashiki's hook had warned them not to tamper with the future, Kiyosuke's survival wouldn't cause any drastic consequences.

So they didn't need to stop him.

The true key was Naruto.

If he died, then everything Sasuke and Naruto had fought for would be in vain.

If the Nine-Tails was stolen, Urashiki would inevitably gather the other eight Tailed Beasts, cultivate the Divine Tree, and drain this planet of chakra and life force—until nothing remained but destruction.

That could never be allowed to happen!

Sasuke had already thought it through. Kiyosuke was chaotic, yes—but his "troublemaking" always ended up helping in the end. No need to interfere with him.

As long as the overall path of history remained intact, it didn't matter.

Maybe what they were doing now was the very course of history itself.

Kiyosuke shouldn't die…

"Enough. Rest. I need to recover as much chakra as I can before Ōtsutsuki Urashiki arrives."

A large portion of his chakra had already been drained by Urashiki. He could barely keep himself moving, and even his Sharingan was unusable. Right now, he was at his weakest.

...

Night.

Kiyosuke woke, glancing at the sleeping Jiraiya and Naruto beside him.

He sighed.

What kind of situation was this? He was supposed to die? Didn't that mean all his efforts would be for nothing?

But that kid Sasuke…

Just in case, Kiyosuke pulled out a scroll.

He grabbed Jiraiya's pen that was usually used for writing novels, and scribbled:

"Future: death. Find a way to survive. The original plan was burned, so make a new one! Stay alive! Then marry a rich and beautiful woman!"

He rolled the scroll up, slipped it into his ninja pouch, and wrote in bold characters across the surface: "Reverse the Future."

It was a reminder to himself.

If that brat Sasuke tried to erase his memories with the Sharingan in order to preserve the future, he'd have no way to resist.

The priority now was preparing for Ōtsutsuki Urashiki.

First, he needed to get Sasuke back into fighting shape. Chakra shortage?

Kiyosuke looked at Naruto beside him and fell silent.

Why didn't Sasuke use the Preta Path of the Rinnegan to siphon chakra from Naruto's Tailed Beast?

Even if his ocular power was weakened, the Preta Path specialized in absorbing chakra. It shouldn't require much.

So what—was Sasuke's Rinnegan just for show?

This… this was Boruto-level power scaling?

Even Sasuke was being nerfed? How terrifying. Truly terrifying!

Kiyosuke sucked in several deep breaths to calm himself.

He prepared his new plan. This time, he wouldn't burn it.

Plan 2.0 was officially underway!

...

The next morning, Kiyosuke and Jiraiya dragged themselves up, washed, ate, and were immediately pulled out by Naruto for training. Boruto got dragged along too.

Naruto valued training highly. He wanted to get stronger as quickly as possible, and with Kiyosuke around, it was even better.

Even though Kiyosuke rarely taught him much directly, it didn't matter.

Boruto joining in wasn't bad either—it was rare to have a peer to train with.

Adult Sasuke lurked nearby, slowly recovering his chakra.

What mattered most wasn't just chakra recovery—it was restoring his ocular power. His primary strength was still his six-tomoe Rinnegan.

If his eye power didn't recover, he couldn't fight properly.

Ocular power was tied directly to chakra. The Rinnegan was fueled by spiritual energy, and since chakra was the union of spiritual and physical energy, regaining chakra also meant recovering his eye strength.

If both returned, he'd be back in top form.

But that fishing rod…

He had to be cautious.

It had stolen an enormous amount of his chakra with ease, even using his own techniques through that cursed basket.

What kind of monstrous clan was the Ōtsutsuki?!

He sighed, realizing how formidable this enemy truly was.

Thankfully, they had Jiraiya and Kiyosuke as additional forces. Otherwise, with only him in his current depleted state, facing Urashiki would be impossible.

Sasuke sat on a branch, watching Naruto and Boruto train below.

Jiraiya sat under a tree, jotting down his manuscript.

Kiyosuke was snoring nearby, clearly still hungover from last night.

Urashiki wouldn't arrive for a while yet. For now, it was best to focus on raising Naruto and Boruto's strength.

Even if their growth was limited, at the very least it might help them escape when the time came.

Of course, knowing Naruto's personality, running away wasn't an option.

...

Several days later.

Over the skies above Konoha's rear mountains, a figure appeared.

He wore white robes, his short silver-white hair gleaming. His skin was pale, and his eyes were a pair of Byakugan—far surpassing the Hyūga in power.

At his waist hung a glowing red basket. In one hand, he carried a glowing red fishing rod.

Floating in the air, he radiated an overwhelming aura of chakra.

"Finally… this era. First, I'll find that fox."

Veins bulged around his eyes as his Byakugan activated, sweeping across the entire Hidden Leaf Village.

...

Hyūga Clan.

Hyūga Hiashi and his younger brother Hizashi were drinking tea when they suddenly felt something unusual.

They both raised their heads, turning toward the source—Urashiki's direction.

"Brother… this feeling…"

"Probably just some youngster practicing with the Byakugan."

Though Urashiki's dōjutsu vastly surpassed their own, as Byakugan users, they could still sense its presence.

Since only the Hyūga possessed Byakugan in Konoha, they assumed it was an unruly junior training carelessly, and paid it no further mind.

...

"Tch… the fox isn't here? Did those two move it again? Always ruining my fun…"

Urashiki's tone was filled with irritation.

He had wanted to arrive at the time of Naruto's birth, when the boy was weakest and utterly defenseless—nothing like the powerhouse he would become.

But because of those two meddlers, he had been forced off-course.

He had only just managed to track down the time-space treasure, the fishing rod, and then Uchiha Sasuke had ruined everything, sending him here instead.

"Fine. I'll just find someone to ask."

The space around him warped like wooden planks being pulled away, revealing a black void.

Urashiki slipped inside.

Someone would be his first lead.
