Chapter 291: I Think You've Misunderstood
"Negotiating terms?"
A figure stood in the void above the Abyssal Demons Burial, towering like sun and moon themselves. Endless divine radiance flowed around him, like infinite celestial rivers swirling. It was nothing short of terrifying.
After ages of silence, dawn broke today. The stillness shattered. An ancient Emperor's aura overflowed, cutting across the Three Realms and Six Paths, cleaving through the past, present, and future.
In that instant, just three two words, yet they resounded like an immortal chant. The void collapsed inch by inch. The vast heavens exploded into chaos; everything ceased to exist.
Eternals trembled.
Even the river of time seemed to become turbulent, nearly reversing its flow. With the Abyssal Demons Burial as the center, countless surrounding domains were struck by the shock.
The Emperor's might spread far and wide.
Everyone trembled uncontrollably, knees weakening as they almost prostrated.
"Correct."
On top of a black mountain, Li Xun and Huang Xi stood side by side, their hair fluttering. In Li Xun's hand, two drops of blood glowed, circulating with Daoist essence, emitting a powerful aura.
It was as though two terrifying beings stood guarding him, causing the Dao of Heaven and Earth to quake and neutralizing the pressure from the mysterious figure deep within the burial grounds.
"Hm?"
That figure's eyes opened and closed like two revolving suns, piercing through billions of miles of void. After taking one glance at the fallen Otherworldly Demon corpses…
His gaze returned to Li Xun.
"What terms?"
His tone was utterly indifferent. The death of those Otherworldly Demons didn't anger him at all—almost as if those demons had no connection to him.
And in truth, that was exactly the case.
At his level, whether creatures were of this world or the world he originally came from made no difference. Any being unable to stand on equal footing with him was nothing more than an ant.
"I have something you need."
Li Xun smiled lightly. His palm flipped, revealing a spiritual herb shaped like a true dragon.
The moment it appeared, a faint draconic might spread out—as though a real dragon hatchling had materialized within the Abyssal Demons Burial.
Along with the dragon aura came an incredibly rich medicinal fragrance, filling every inch of space.
"Purple Cloud Dragon Emperor Ginseng?"
Huang Xi's mouth fell open in shock.
This was an extremely rare spiritual herb, requiring at least ten thousand years to mature. Upon maturity, it was at minimum a saint-level spiritual herb—practically priceless in the outside world.
Even Saints found it extremely difficult to obtain.
Yet her master casually produced one… and even intended to use it to negotiate with a terrifying existence. That was simply madness.
"This item can be exchanged for the life of one of you two."
The shadowy figure spoke like rolling thunder, tinged with unquestionable authority—like the impersonal decree of heavenly law.
"No."
"I think you've misunderstood."
Li Xun shook his head and spoke calmly:
"What I mean is: I want to use these things to exchange for Blood Essence Stones. There are Blood Essence Stones on the outskirts of the Abyssal Demons Burial."
"I believe the deeper regions should contain many more, correct?"
"And you—being merely a remnant soul—should have no use for Blood Essence Stones."
The primary purpose of Blood Essence Stones was to strengthen the physical body, transforming it into an indestructible vessel. Even if one fell, they could resurrect from a single drop of blood.
But if only a single strand of obsession remained, or just a fragment of soul, then Blood Essence Stones would be of no use.
After all, Blood Essence Stones possessed no ability to strengthen the soul.
Off to the side, Huang Xi stared at her master in shock. She couldn't understand why her master dared to speak to such a supreme existence in this manner. The distant shadowy figure still carried the aura of an Emperor.
Which meant that in his lifetime, he must have been an existence beyond an Emperor.
Even now, with nothing but a wisp of remnant soul left, he was absolutely not someone they could afford to provoke. If he struck with all his might, he might very well recreate the glory of his peak for a short while.
Most likely… even a living Emperor wouldn't dare provoke such a remnant soul.
Yet her master was negotiating with him.
It felt like dancing on the edge of a blade.
"You have no qualification to negotiate terms with me. If I kill you, the things in your hand will still become mine!"
In the distance, mist swirled.
That towering figure became even more terrifying, even more unapproachable—standing as though upon the Ninth Heaven. His gaze shifted and flowed, making the heart tremble.
Mist surged, and the black sea of clouds rolled forth to engulf the entire Abyssal Demons Burial. Like a great storm of darkness, the heavy, oppressive clouds surged out of the burial grounds, sweeping across a hundred thousand miles of the outer world!
Even Saints felt as though a mountain had been placed on their chest, leaving them nearly unable to breathe.
He showed no intention of striking, yet just one sentence made heaven and earth change color. No one doubted that a single glance from him could annihilate a Saint.
Nothing he had said just now was an empty threat.
"You can try."
"Saint-level spiritual herbs—whether here in the Abyssal Demons Burial or in the outside world—are priceless. Aside from me, no one would bring out such things to trade with you."
Li Xun remained calm and unhurried. Facing such a terrifying being, he seemed to feel no pressure at all. His palm flipped again, and another saint-level spiritual herb appeared.
Two saint-level spiritual herbs appeared in one person's hands. Within a radius of several kilometers, a tidal wave of spiritual energy surged.
The saint-level spiritual herbs bloomed with radiant light, becoming strikingly obvious even within the gloomy Abyssal Demons Burial. Even the shadowy figure couldn't help but glance over.
To him, a single saint-level spiritual herb was nothing.
But two… was different.
Moreover, if Li Xun could casually take out two, it was entirely possible he had more. Add all those together…
The value of these herbs would become unimaginably terrifying.
Even a Holy Land could not compare to the wealth Li Xun was displaying now.
"Since ancient times, a mere Divine Palace ant like you has never possessed the qualifications to negotiate with an Emperor."
The shadowy figure spoke again after a moment of contemplation.
His gaze spanned millions of years, containing the power to strip away life itself. A massive hand reached forward to seize them.
It was a black, ink-colored palm, shrouded in dark mist, with sun, moon, and stars revolving within it. It covered the entire Abyssal Demons Burial, vast and unstoppable, blotting out the sky.
Under that palm, even someone as strong as Huang Xi felt herself completely restrained, unable to move even her smallest finger. She could only watch helplessly as the palm descended.
"So it seems you're determined to fight to the death."
Li Xun's expression did not change. He lifted his hand, fingers slowly tightening. The two saint-level spiritual herbs in his grasp began to deform at a speed visible to the naked eye.
With just a little more force, the two saint-level spiritual herbs would instantly crumble into dust.
