----------------------------------------------------------

A week has passed since Renz's Shokugeki challenge at the Gourmet Street.

Throughout this week, people in the Japanese culinary world were still talking about it enthusiastically, expressing their admiration for Renz's culinary skills with words of praise.

Gin Dojima was a "demon king" level figure in the Japanese culinary world. In his era, no one in Japan could match Gin Dojima's strength.

For nearly twenty years, he was the most renowned figure in the Japanese culinary world.

However, Gin Dojima had one major problem: he had only proven his strength within Japan and had never achieved anything significant in countries outside of Japan.

His market value, while high, was also somewhat inflated.

After all, there were no hard-fought battles he could cite, only the title of "Head of Totsuki Gourmet Street" which held significant weight.

But the problem was that Renz had devoured the entire

Gourmet Street, making that title seem a bit dim.

Fortunately, during the challenge, Renz also defeated the molecular chef from Spain, Master Senk.

He was an internationally renowned chef; the Japanese culinary world had heard of his name and were familiar with him. Perhaps circles outside the culinary world might be unfamiliar with him.

But winning against such a formidable opponent,

The value of Renz's challenge this time was beyond words; most people were willing to acknowledge it.

In short, the most renowned dominant position in the Japanese culinary world had now slowly shifted from Gin Dojima to Renz.

Invisibly, his market value multiplied.

As Christmas approached its end,

And with some time left until the New Year's holiday,

Renz and Erina were living a relaxed and content life at Totsuki Resort, thoroughly releasing their accumulated stress.

However, that didn't mean they completely forgot about work matters or pushed them to the back of their minds.

Spiritual well-being was important, but material well-being was also indispensable.

Money became a very important pivot.

Therefore, earning enough money through work to support the family was what Renz and Erina both had to do now.

Totsuki Resort - Coffee Shop.

Renz and Erina sat together. Across from them sat a rather mature woman, around thirty years old. Her posture was upright, clearly an elite individual who had received a good education.

Her height couldn't be determined from her seated position, as she had arrived at the cafe first to wait for them.

Her makeup was appropriate, her hair appeared to be permed into an old-fashioned wavy style, mature and intellectual. She wore gold-rimmed glasses, and her eye color was beautiful with the enhancements. However, she wasn't wearing work attire but a casual, fashionable style.

"Hello, Ms. Nagasawa," Renz extended a hand, a polite

gesture for social interaction.

Ms. Nagasawa, sitting across the table, graciously extended her hand and shook Renz's politely.

Yu Nagasawa, the chief director of the variety show "Koi no Challenge," was 33 years old. She had no prior experience directing a variety show independently but had many years of assistant director experience. She came this time to explain all aspects of the cooperation.

She was there to clearly state the pros and cons, to persuade them to join her production team. Her personal presence was a gesture of "honoring the wise and respecting the humble," showing full sincerity.

"My colleague previously sent the proposal to both of you, didn't they?" Yu Nagasawa immediately went straight to business, without small talk or greetings.

Her voice wasn't particularly pleasant; it was a bit

husky and slightly muffled.

This was a quintessential work-oriented strong woman, Renz immediately judged internally.

"Erina and I have both read the proposal," Renz said politely. "However, I noticed that this is your first time as a chief director, Ms. Nagasawa, isn't it?"

Yu Nagasawa paused for a few seconds, nodding

noncommittally.

What Renz said could be considered crucial or not crucial, because the chief director's experience and seniority would affect the quality and scheduling of the entire program.

Famous directors are well-regarded everywhere, and the TV dramas and movies they produce naturally have high viewership ratings.

But variety shows are a different beast.

Most directors wouldn't seek collaborations with variety shows. These highly entertaining programs have a very simple core: to bring "happiness," "visual enjoyment," and "laughter" to the audience.

Many big directors look down on them.

They pursue depth in films.

So, the chief directors of variety shows are often newcomers in the industry, or seasoned veterans who have been around for a long time without much recognition.

Yu Nagasawa belonged to the latter category.

Don't let Japan's outwardly perfect system and seemingly prosperous appearance deceive you. Upon closer analysis, Japan's social system isn't much better than South Korea's, where chaebols dominate.

On the most basic point of gender equality,

Across the entire Asian region, only China has achieved gender equality. In Japan, it is much harder for women than for men.

Women need to put in more effort than men to get work opportunities.

A few years of experience for a male director might take a female director over a decade to achieve recognition.

Yu Nagasawa was in just such a humble position as a worker. The TV station had never given her good opportunities to be featured.

An opportunity to prove her ability.

Only awkward situations like variety shows, which experienced directors usually don't want to bother with and newcomers can't handle well, would be entrusted to someone in her difficult position.

When Renz brought this up,

Yu Nagasawa wasn't embarrassed. Instead, she said with utmost elegance, "I am indeed leading a team for the first time as a chief director of a program."

"But I have about ten years of professional experience. While I can't say I have any special abilities, as I haven't made a name for myself despite being in the industry for so long, I can guarantee the most basic aspects of the work."

Her answer was very appropriate.

Neither arrogant nor self-deprecating, and she answered everything that needed to be answered.

Renz wasn't actually worried about the quality of the

show; he was just accompanying Erina to participate for fun. It was a way to make money and have fun.

His question was merely to gather more information from the other party, to extract some intelligence.

"I received the offer for this program, and Erina and I are quite satisfied with the compensation," Renz mused. "However, there are some parts of the contract I'm not happy with and would like to amend."

"I would like to add one more clause to the contract."

"When facing unforeseen circumstances that are unfavorable to our side, Erina and I shall have the unconditional right to withdraw from the program."

"What do you think?"

Renz asked.

Yu Nagasawa looked troubled.

This clause was quite awkward; it practically gave Renz

and Erina the highest authority.

As long as they weren't pleased, they could logically withdraw from the show.

Then wouldn't their production team have to revolve around Renz and Erina? This would severely limit the chief director's authority and the entire production team's power.

Renz saw Yu Nagasawa's expression.

He immediately understood that this clause was probably an extraordinary special provision, and the other party would find it very difficult to compromise.

So, they could only proceed with a new round of negotiations.

It was a battle of who had better rhetoric.
