The Red-Cloaked One – Jungwon could only cry behind the door. He felt guilty towards Heeseung, but now his own life was in danger too.
"Why did I have to go to Sunoo's room that day? I should have just waited for Jay to come home."
It all began when he accidentally walked into Sunoo's room to borrow a charger. Instead, Jungwon discovered a terrorist plot devised by Sunoo.
That afternoon, he arranged to meet Sunoo at a café, making sure his friend would be close by. Jungwon told Sunoo to head home first so that he could follow him. As planned, Jungwon attacked Sunoo on the way home and managed to drag him to an empty warehouse. However, Jungwon had overlooked one thing: Sunoo knew how to defend himself. He did manage to kidnap Sunoo, but his friend easily turned the tables on him. It was Jungwon himself who ended up tied to a chair.
"Let me go!" shouted Jungwon.
"After attacking me just now, you're asking to be let go?" Sunoo laughed.
"Why do you want to take revenge on all of us?" said Jungwon.
"My targets are just Jake and your dad. But I reckon I can take you and Jay as hostages," replied Sunoo.
"What have we done to you?" asked Jungwon.
"It all started when your dad hired a hitman to kill my cousin. You see, my cousin had a lot of evidence of the crimes your father committed. So, your father chose to silence my cousin," explained Sunoo.
"Just take your revenge on my father," said Jungwon.
"I'll do that. But right now, I want to take my revenge on the hitman first—Jake," said Sunoo.
Jungwon was naturally shocked to hear Sunoo's words.
"Jake? That's impossible…"
Sunoo showed Jungwon his cousin's notes about a hitman organisation. All the members were listed there, including Jake.
"My cousin described the characteristics of the hitman who was following him. And clearly, what he wrote down matches Jake's description," said Sunoo.
"H-he's not a killer…" whispered Jungwon.
"You didn't even know he was part of a hitman organisation," Sunoo retorted.
Sunoo put his cousin's journal back into his bag.
"Are you going to kill me now?" said Jungwon desperately.
Sunoo seemed to be thinking. "Earlier you said I could take revenge on your father. Do you hate him?"
"I-I… yes, I hate him. And Jay," said Jungwon.
"Wow, that's quite interesting. You hate your own family," Sunoo remarked sarcastically.
"Dad's always ignored me, just because I was born to his other wife," said Jungwon.
"Hmm… you and Jay actually have the same father but different mothers, don't you?" asked Sunoo.
"Yes. But Dad can't really get over his first wife, who's already passed away. So he only loves Jay," said Jungwon.
"What's the reason you hate Jay? He really cares about you, and he doesn't seem to mind at all that you're his half-brother," said Sunoo.
"I'm jealous of him because he always gets special treatment from Dad. I'm working at the company so that one day I can take over from Dad, but he still wants to hand the company over to Jay," said Jungwon.
"Oh, right. How about you help me?" said Sunoo.
"Help you? N-no," refused Jungwon.
Sunoo grinned, then leaned forward, bringing his face close to Jungwon's.
"I'll spare your life. And at the same time, you can get your revenge on Jay and your dad, right?"
Jungwon stared at Sunoo in terror. He wanted to refuse, but it seemed he had no other choice.
"I-I agree to go with you…"
Sunoo smiled, then beat Jungwon until he lost consciousness. When he woke up, Jungwon found himself in a room, being treated by Sunoo.
"Now everyone thinks you're dead, so you don't need to go back—just stay here," said Sunoo casually.
"What do you mean? I'm not dead!" Jungwon snapped.
"I killed someone earlier, then I chucked the body into the warehouse. And don't forget, before I set him alight, I made sure to put your stuff in there too," explained Sunoo nonchalantly.
Jungwon was, of course, utterly stunned by this explanation.
"I'm a good guy, aren't I?" said Sunoo, finishing with a sweet smile.
