Chapter 209 - Chapter 209: Facing Jinchuriki

While Arima was thinking about his next move, the ever-cautious Shino asked, "May I ask why you appeared in the Forest of Death? This is a very dangerous place."

Arima replied, "I'm just as confused. I ran into a vicious beast earlier, and in the panic I stumbled in here."

At first glance, the explanation seemed reasonable enough, but Shino was already suspicious of Arima's identity. He pressed further. "What do you do for a living?"

From the previous conversation, Arima had already confirmed that this shinobi world was not his intended destination but a parallel one. In order to blend in, a believable identity was essential.

Arima had always been good at cooking, so he followed Shino's question and answered.

"I'm a chef. I originally planned to open a barbecue shop in Konoha after a while.

I came into the Forest of Death looking for ingredients, but I ran into a giant snake and got lost in the chaos."

Hearing this, Shino reminded him, "You shouldn't light any fires here right now. It's the Chunin Exams, smoke could attract enemies."

Arima nodded.

After learning that this man knew his mother, Kiba developed an even better impression of Arima. With good intentions, he asked, "Hey, want to come out with us?"

Arima was warmed by that. This kid seemed reckless, but his heart was kind.

He smiled. "Thank you. I can't use ninjutsu, but I'm in great physical shape. I can protect myself."

After speaking, he threw a punch at a towering tree beside him. Just before impact, his fist was coated in Armament Haki. The tree couldn't withstand the blow and snapped cleanly in half.

The three Genin had never sensed any chakra or unusual energy from him, they simply saw this white-haired stranger snap a massive tree with one light punch.

Kiba gasped. "Whoa! That strength is insane, old man!"

Shino's kikaichu examined the break and confirmed that the tree really had been snapped purely by force, no chakra involved.

Satisfied, they no longer doubted his identity. With that kind of strength, even if he was lost, surviving in the forest would be no problem.

As luck would have it, a team of Ame-nin participating in the exam happened to be nearby. Hearing the loud crash, they immediately moved to surround Arima's group.

Shino's kikaichu and Kiba's ninken sensed the enemy at the same time.

Shino and Kiba both looked toward Hinata. She immediately understood, formed a seal, gathered chakra and used Byakugan.

With her Byakugan's field of vision, Hinata clearly saw three enemies approaching in a triangular formation.

She reported, "Three enemies approaching. They're wearing Amegakure uniform. The leader has three umbrellas on his back."

Hearing her intel, the other two gathered around her to discuss an ambush plan.

Their team held the Heaven Scroll but had not yet encountered a team with the Earth Scroll, this was a perfect opportunity.

They moved Arima somewhere safe, then efficiently set up traps. Finally, they used shadow clones as bait while their real bodies hid in nearby bushes.

When the Ame-nin arrived, they found their "targets" standing openly in the clearing.

The leader snorted, "Are Konoha Genin all idiots? Looks like we get to pick up something for free."

He flung the three umbrellas into the air, formed the seal, and murmured, "Ninja Art: Rain Needle Barrage!"

The umbrellas opened instantly, releasing a torrent of senbon. As they spun rapidly, the storm of needles filled the space with no blind spots.

Hinata, Shino, and Kiba were skewered into hedgehogs.

But before the Ame-nin could celebrate, their targets either burst into smoke or dissolved into clouds of insects. He immediately realized he had fallen into a trap.

He retreated first, his two teammates sensing danger as well and following quickly, only to panic and fall into the traps hidden on the ground.

While they were entangled, Kiba and Akamaru used their combination technique, easily taking down one of them.

Shino unleashed his clan's secret jutsu, directing his kikaichu to envelop the leader. His chakra was quickly devoured.

The last enemy was struck by Hinata with Gentle Fist, receiving a flurry of precise blows before crashing heavily to the ground, unconscious.

Arima watched from the side, satisfied. It seemed that in this world, Konoha's Genin also had solid fundamentals.

The three searched the bodies and found a scroll.

Unfortunately, it was another Heaven Scroll. Kiba couldn't help complaining, "Just our luck!"

But the trouble wasn't over, before they could catch their breath, the earlier commotion attracted new enemies.

Akamaru sensed that the newcomers were extremely dangerous and relayed the message to Kiba.

At the same time, Shino's kikaichu trembled, these enemies possessed chakra so vast it could only be described as immense.

To Hinata's team, the approaching presence was overwhelming. They hurried back to Arima and hid in the bushes with him.

Arima had already sensed the unknown group approaching with his Observation Haki.

What amused him was that among them was a jinchuriki, and not just any, but the One-Tails' jinchuriki from Sunagakure.

Seeing the three kids panic was understandable. A jinchuriki in partial transformation could crush fresh Genin like them without effort.

Around ten minutes later, three Suna-shinobi arrived at the battlefield.

At their head was a red-haired boy carrying a large yellow gourd.

The dark circles under his eyes were heavy, as if he hadn't slept in years, making his gaze even more menacing.

Behind him were an older man and woman.

The man wore black clothes, had purple face markings, and carried a bandage-wrapped puppet on his back.

The woman wore a light purple one piece dress and carried a huge iron fan, it was clearly a special ninja tool.

It was obvious they took the red-haired boy as their leader. Both of them looked tense, as if terrified of him.

The three scanned the battlefield, and after a moment, their gazes simultaneously shifted toward the bushes where Arima's group was hiding.

As they approached, Kiba said decisively, "We should split up and run. Akamaru says they reek of blood, they've killed a lot of people."

Shino nodded. "Their chakra makes my kikaichu tremble. We can't fight them."

Hinata listened silently, then, after a moment's hesitation, said firmly, "You two go. I'll… I'll stop them."

This surprised Arima, but it also pleased him. He genuinely appreciated Hinata's courage.

He didn't want to test the children's resolve in a life or death situation. Human nature rarely withstands such tests.

Feigning ignorance, he said, "Maybe they aren't looking for us?"

Kiba instinctively wanted to argue, but then something unexpected happened.

All three Suna-nin suddenly collapsed to their knees at the same time. After struggling back up, they turned around and fled the area without hesitation.
