Chapter 373 - Chapter 372: The Aloof Lion El'Jonson

846.M30

This solar year, two Primarchs were rediscovered.

First, the Emperor found the First Legion's Primarch, Lion El'Jonson, on Caliban in the Segmentum Obscurus.

Subsequently, the Fourth Legion's Primarch, Perturabo, was found on Olympia. He was the thirteenth Primarch officially recorded as rediscovered by the Imperium.

11th Month. The Shadow's Sovereignty arrived in the Ganfall System.

After ordering the bridge viewports opened, Nareth stood before the entire viewport, looking at Gantz.

The Primarch's superhuman vision saw densely packed factories covering the moon's surface.

In each area stood a massive red structure, a forge temple.

Dixon, who had come from the Razor, reported to Nareth.

"Father, the representatives from Mars have recognized Gantz as a new Forge World."

"The Magi of Gantz have agreed to assist in the development of Ganfall and provide supplies for the Legion."

Nareth nodded. He turned his gaze to Ganfall, the primary world of Gantz, which in his memory was called Konor.

The Primarch saw Ganfall's surface covered in large and small, pitted craters.

"The Mechanicum colonists once established colonies on Ganfall, but a millennium ago, meteorite impacts destroyed most of this world's facilities."

"Most of Ganfall's populace makes a living by exploring the ruins. They trade their findings with the Tech-Priests for supplies."

"Some facilities still remain. Thus, the Mechanicum still holds some influence among the local population."

Nareth nodded, thinking to himself.

'Ganfall has a much better foundation than Calth. The ruins of the Mechanicum structures are the basis for establishing factories'.

'No wonder Ganfall, that is, Konor, became the domain of the Northern among the Tetrarchs of Ultramar.'

'Calth was a latecomer, only catching up to Konor's footsteps by the time of the Heresy. But its ecological environment is more intact, and sustainable development gives it greater potential, though it was destroyed by the "Word Bearers" attack.'

Nareth reined in his thoughts and instructed: "Ganfall has abundant mineral deposits. Develop it as an Industrial World."

"Establish shipyards. I expect it to become, alongside Calth, an important shipyard for the Legion in the future."

"Allocate one-tenth of the production capacity to construct Ramilies-class Starforts. Deploy them in the order: Ganfall, Veridia, Talassar, Catachan, Osiris, and Attila."

To counter future threats, Nareth decided to deploy Ramilies-class Starforts in important domains.

Considering the Starforts were massive and traveled slowly, he decided to build them nearby in the Eastern Galaxy.

In Nareth's mind, among the many domains in the Eastern Galaxy, Veridia held higher value than Ganfall.

But considering the Starforts were to be built at Ganfall, it made sense to ensure its own security first.

Catachan was also quite important, but the planet's environment itself was a natural defense.

"Deploy the Starfort for Attila in orbit around the Ymga Monolith."

Attila was the only one among the six important domains where a Teleportarium would not be deployed.

Considering the Sautekh Dynasty's Ymga Monolith was within the Attila System, this was dangerous.

The Necrons might attack the Teleportarium, causing unimaginable consequences.

Deploying a Ramilies-class Starfort at the Ymga Monolith could snipe approaching Sautekh Dynasty fleets, preventing them from using the artifact to replicate ships.

"As you wish," Dixon noted his father's command, then took off the black square box hanging from his waist. He opened the lid with his thick fingers.

"Father, I discovered this peculiar meteorite on Ganfall. I believe you would be very interested in it."

Arsena Dunn, who had just returned from the Attila System, curiously examined the fist-sized blue stone. It shimmered with starlight, illuminating the surroundings as if they were placed within the void outside the viewport.

Nareth also turned to look at Dixon. Seeing the fist-sized blue stone in the box, he confirmed it was Starfall Stone, the main ingredient for Sequence 7 "Astrologer" of the "Door" pathway.

"I am very interested in it. Gather more for me."

"Understood, Father." Dixon replied with a smile. The gift he prepared indeed pleased the Gene-Father.

"Arsena, coordinate with Dixon on the details of supporting Ganfall's development."

A short while later, Nareth promoted Dixon to Sequence 8 "Sheriff" and placed Ganfall under his jurisdiction.

After Dixon left, Nareth asked the Primarch's attendant:

"How progresses the research on the Ymga Monolith?"

"My Lord, the Chief Librarian and I have collected and recorded 491,300 discovered xenos glyphs," the "Student of Ratiocination" replied.

"Since the Necron glyphs are similar to hieroglyphs, we first categorized all collected glyphs by graphical features, determining the position of each category within their respective segments."

"Then we conducted analysis on symbolic associations and combinatorial rules, allowing us to grasp the basic meanings of some of the glyphs."

"As of now, we have mastered the meanings of 2,750 glyphs."

After reporting his own progress, Arsena continued:

"Librarian Miguel Cuesta, cooperating with the Marshall of Ordnance, is researching the memory crystals based on our findings."

"They discovered that the stone chamber was precisely the control center for the Tomb Sentinels, manufacturing and controlling their actions."

"They shut down the program set by the Cryptek, terminating the production of Tomb Sentinels."

The Primarch's attendant walked to the holoprojector and placed a data-crystal inside.

Nareth looked at the projection, seeing several golden metallic-bodied Garudas.

Arsena continued: "So far, the greatest achievement in applied research is the preliminary mastery of living metal fabrication technology."

"Although Necron technology is profound and we cannot directly manufacture living metal, using the materials from the Ymga Monolith, we can fabricate items like the golden Garuda."

"While the Marshall of Ordnance fabricates golden Garudas, he is also using the materials to create other items."

"I am satisfied with the research progress." A smile appeared on Nareth's face as he spoke.

Living metal was the foundation of almost all Necron technology.

The pyramid of the Ymga Monolith had four stone chambers. Obtaining living metal technology from the first chamber was a good harvest.

"My Lord, the Emperor has convened a new War Council, requesting your attendance tomorrow at 10:00 Ship Time."

"Understood."

The next day, Nareth's psychic projection traversed the void, arriving at the Golden Palace on Terra.

He scanned the long table and found two new members present, and the seating had also changed somewhat.

Nareth was still seated next to Roboute Guilliman. Sanguinius's position had risen, seated between Leman Russ and Fulgrim.

Beside Horus Lupercal, in order, were Ferrus Manus, Rogal Dorn, Hannibal, Vulkan, Magnus, and a new member.

As Nareth looked around, Horus spoke with a smile: "This time, we have two more brothers."

"Nareth, allow me to introduce you. The Gene-Primarch of the First Legion, the Lion of Caliban, Lion El'Jonson."

"Nareth." Lion regarded Nareth like a predator from the jungle, comparing him to the image described by Urian Vendraig.

Nareth looked at Lion. His expression was impassive, his tone aloof.

His golden-brown hair fell over his shoulders. His eyes were a wild forest green.

Lion's black ceramite chestplate bore a gilt vortex ornament, surrounded by ornate reliefs depicting forest scenes.

"El'Jonson." Nareth replied in an equally flat tone.

Horus was already accustomed to Lion's demeanor; he hadn't shown a trace of a smile when greeting anyone.

But Horus did notice one difference: Lion scrutinized Nareth longer than he had the others.

'Perhaps it's because the First Legion was once under Nareth's command during the war against the Mitu.'
