Chapter 614 - Chapter 613: The Abrupt End of "Samus is Here"

On the surface of the fifth planet, the central world in orbit around the yellow star, inside the Governor's Palace.

The "Baron of Corruption" Pell moved swiftly. In his sight, everything was composed of different threads.

Even people.

A person's threads of law had colors similar to those seen in Spirit Vision: hands red, head purple...

The difference was that Spirit Vision showed an outline. The threads showed the center, revealing where their weaknesses lay.

Against ordinary guards, this wasn't very useful.

The beams they fired struck the prismatic structure of psychic energy, refracting and dispersing, vanishing harmlessly.

Pell charged into their midst. His blade spun rapidly. Blue light reflected off his black robe.

Barrios and his men wanted to help Lord Pell, but couldn't find an opening.

Their firing couldn't keep up with his movement.

In a dozen seconds, Pell had cut through the Governor's Palace guard line.

The "Baron of Corruption" rushed into the palace like the wind. Suddenly, his eyes caught a grey circular thread and a dazzling white line.

He glanced. The two threads were in empty spaces.

'Invisible warriors.'

The "Baron of Corruption" zigzagged, changing direction before the white line could align with his body, preventing the invisible warriors from locking onto him.

In an instant, he was before an invisible warrior. His muscles bulged, swelling his black robe.

He twisted his waist and back. His arm swung like a cannonball.

'How did he find me?' The invisible warrior, realizing his position was exposed, thought in terror.

CRASH!

His fist tore through the force field, slamming into the warrior.

Barrios's eyes widened, then filled with fervor. He shouted:

"Lord Pell!"

The Defense Force and noble private armies cheered.

"I surrender..." The Governor looked at the invincible figure, now a bloody pulp, and said in terror.

He asked, confused: "Who are you?"

"Pell Koscheny." As he spoke, Pell thought to himself.

'Infiltrating an enemy-controlled world, causing chaos, reducing casualties.'

'This is what my Lord wants us to understand.'

At the same moment, over the Whisper Mountains in the southern hemisphere of the third planet.

Nareth looked down. He saw no walls or fortifications. There were no guards even before the fortress built into the mountain.

The Primarch's consciousness expanded. The labyrinthine, winding black tunnels were filled with limp, twisted corpses.

His consciousness simultaneously discerned thirty spacious, irregular rooms.

Meltwater dripped from the black rock ceilings. Minerals, accumulated over the years, had formed into stalactite pillars like silver fangs.

At the center of each hall was a man-made pit, collecting the meltwater.

Nareth noted many jars and pots around the pools, positioned to catch the dripping water.

The floor was littered with brooches, coins, animal skulls, and strangely shaped clay figures.

The stone pillars suspended above the pools were carved with worn runes.

Thirty snow-melt temples. Nine hundred eighty-six bizarre corpses.

They had died in various ways. Some had stabbed themselves with brooches, blood staining their clothes.

Others had choked to death swallowing skulls.

Amidst the dripping water, a voice sounded in Nareth's ear.

"Drip, drop. Samus is here."

"Samus. That is the only name you'll hear."

"Samus. That is the end and the death."

The voice echoed. Nareth, following the whispers, extended his consciousness to a massive stone courtyard.

It lay at the fortress's lowest level, a natural fissure between the mountain walls, opening onto a dark, bottomless canyon.

Meltwater flowed down the walls of the mountain's heart. Wind passed through invisible cracks, creating a strange whispering sound.

At the edge of the cliff, seven figures stood, staring blankly.

"I see him. Samus." One person stared fixedly at the waterfall cascading down the rock face.

"Samus is here." Another murmured, turning towards Nareth, his gaze seeming to pass through the mountain and fortress.

"Samus. That is the end and the death." Samus's whisper was gentle, a ramblings disturbance, but Nareth was unaffected. He didn't even enter the Thelema mindstate.

BOOM!

The figure who had looked towards Nareth had his head exploded. Blood mixed with meltwater.

Nareth felt a momentary lull in his thoughts. Then he saw the first speaker walk into the waterfall.

Lumps appeared beneath his skin. In an instant, his size doubled.

His clothes tore, trailing behind him like rags.

His face became canine. Sharp teeth grew. Fangs burst from his jaws.

The other five walked towards him. Their eyes were bloodshot. Their pupils coalesced into a strange, hazy pattern of yellow light.

Nareth knew these followers of Samus were completely under its control.

White specks, like grains of sand, appeared in the "Mentor of Disorder's" mind.

With a thought, a sand grain flew into one person's head.

As psychic energy rapidly drained, the sand-grain-sized egg grew rapidly.

The "Mentor of Disorder's" body became ethereal, then vanished in an instant.

The moment his physical body transformed into pure spirit, the "Mentor of Disorder" felt invisible threads connecting him to the swelling eggs.

They gleamed brightly, strung together like beads, forming an upright rectangle.

With a thought, his spirit form, like a kite on a string, flew into the gleaming "Mind Gate."

CRASH!

The Samus follower's head exploded. His body was crushed by the black armor.

The "Mentor of Disorder" materialized, surrounded by five white, bee-like creatures, forty centimeters long.

In the sound of rushing water, the dog-faced man opened his maw. Countless needle-like fangs tore into one of the others.

The bitten man offered no resistance. His head and upper body were severed in one bite.

A column of blood spurted. "Samus is here."

Nareth saw the dog-faced creature had grown to the size of an Astartes.

'This seems beyond mere possession. The Samus followers' sacrificial ritual allowed it to pierce the veil, forming a body that can persist in reality.'

As he thought, he decided to kill the remaining three followers rushing to the dog-faced creature, offering themselves.

The thought had barely formed when the five white bees shot towards the three.

Powerful mandibles crushed one's head. Claws tore the other two apart.

'When I advanced to "Mentor of Disorder," I learned that the bees created by "Psychic Eggs" do not obey the caster's commands.'

Nareth considered that he had used the Queen and understood.

With another thought, he gave the command to attack the dog-faced creature.

The five bees abandoned the corpses and flew at the enemy.

The dog-faced creature swung its claw-like hands, tearing two bees apart.

It roared. A gale swept the remaining three into its mouth.

As the wind rose, two horns pierced its head. Its hair stood on end.

"Samus, is..."

Samus's green eyes looked at Nareth. It began to speak. Then, a will like a meteor crashed down.

Its voice cut off.

Samus let out an inhuman shriek. Its body shattered.

The "Mentor of Disorder" used "Will Suppression" to banish Samus, which had breached reality without forming a lasting body.

Then, golden flames blazed on his wings.

The Burning One's power ignited the springs, engulfing the entire fortress in fire.

Nareth flew out. The Whisper Mountains blazed.

His communication bead buzzed. Arsena' voice came through.

"My Lord, the fleet's communications officers confirm the whispers have ceased."

"The Chapters have re-established contact with their Lords. The Fate Lord's explosions on the 1st Planet triggered earthquakes. The entire command base was swallowed."

"The Dark Lord made the commanders on the 4th Planet fall asleep. They have all been captured."

"..."

As Nareth listened to the report, the "Witch" Maria Kournikova had Admiral Raspadori Costis under her control. The fleets of the four Chapters met no resistance. Most of the system was now under the Legion's control.

"Order the Techmarines to recover the invisible warriors' force field and energy weapons, and any other STCs."

"..."

He flashed through the air, issuing orders.

In moments, he had left the Whisper Mountains and returned to the High City.

He viewed the city. The flames were subsiding. Shadows of Orders were landing. The chaos was ending.

With a thought, he went to the Kingdom of Disorder.
