Chapter 82 - Chapter 83 Trainer Assessment (Part 1)

Dr. Bratano took out a brand new Pokédex and

  said

, "I trust you, Xiaofeng. I'll find a way to forge your identity. You'll attend the Pokémon Miare Convention as my assistant."

Jun Shafeng was instantly grateful after hearing this.

"Thank you, Doctor. After I attend the Miare Convention, I'll definitely help you complete your Mega Evolution research."  Dr. Bratano then took the Pokédex to his computer

and created a personal profile for Jun Shafeng.

The Pokédex not only identifies Pokémon but also serves as a symbol of identity for Pokémon Trainers, like an ID card.

After creating the profile, the Pokédex officially launched.

Dr. Bratano handed the Pokédex to Jun Shafeng.

"Now you can take the test,"

 Jun Shafeng nodded excitedly.

He then followed Dr. Bratano back to the Pokémon Testing Center.

The instructor helped Jun Shafeng establish his identity and then

took him to the testing room.

"To prevent anyone from using Pokémon to cheat, you'll need to temporarily hand over all your Poké Balls to the front desk. You can also give your Poké Balls to a friend for safekeeping."

Jun Shafeng, just in case, gave his Poké Balls to Professor Blatano, whom he trusted. He

 then entered the examination room.

He saw several other trainers taking the test.

The instructor handed each person a test paper filled with questions about Pokémon.

"Question 1: Does Ditto have a gender?"

"Question 2: How much does Snorlax weigh?"

"Question 3: What is the stat of Gengar?

" "Question 4: Which Pokémon can be eaten?

 " ..."

[Question 100: How does Pikachu determine gender?]  Drawing on his extensive knowledge of Pokémon, Jun Shafeng

successfully wrote all the answers on his test paper within an hour.

He then handed it to the instructor.

After a short wait, the other trainers also handed in their papers.

Finally, Jun Shafeng's test results were in.  Answering all 100 questions correctly, they secured first place with a perfect score and advanced to the next round of assessments.  The instructor, looking at the trainers who had successfully advanced, spoke seriously.  "Next, we'll assess your practical experience.

The first round tested your understanding and foundation of Pokémon, but that's often insufficient. Pokémon battles aren't just theoretical exercises. If a trainer can't respond to unexpected situations and properly command their Pokémon,  they'll ultimately fail mid-battle. Now, I'll provide you each with three Poké Balls. Use the Pokémon I've provided to defeat your opponent. Successful defeat will qualify you for the assessments."

After hearing the instructor's words, Jun Shafeng stepped forward and asked, somewhat questioningly.

"Could we use our own Pokémon in battle? That would better showcase the trainer's prowess and help with training."

The instructor paused, then pondered, realizing that Jun Shafeng's words made sense.

"You're right. Does anyone else have any objections? If so, please let me know."

The other trainers, clearly confident in their own Pokémon, shook their heads.

Seeing no one else objected, the instructor nodded in agreement.

Jun Shafeng hurried outside the examination room and received his Poké Ball from Professor Blatano.

Several other trainers also received theirs.

The instructor then led everyone to the center of the examination room.

"The competition will be a 3-on-3 format. Anyone who successfully defeats two of their opponent's Pokémon will qualify for the next round."

The instructor announced this, and Jun Shafeng was the first to enter the arena.  A short-haired boy soon followed.

Jun Shafeng took out his Poké Ball and released the Great Armor.

The short-haired boy also took out his Poké Ball and released an Electric-type Roentgen.

"Excellent, both teams have released their Pokémon. Now the match begins. Remember, this is just a match. Once your opponent's Pokémon loses its combat capability, it cannot attack."

The instructor warned and left the arena.  The short-haired boy launched the first attack.

 "Roentgen, use a 100,000-volt attack!"

Jun Shafeng immediately used the system to assess the Roentgen's level.  I know that the short-haired boy's Roentgen cat is only level 58.

"Dajia, use Hold, then unleash Strange Ray."

Facing Roentgen's attack, Dajia immediately used Hold to block the 100,000 volts.

He then unleashed Strange Ray,

instantly sending Roentgen lurching into a state of confusion.

Seeing this, the short-haired boy immediately ordered Roentgen to use Crazy Scratching, attempting to attack Dajia.  However, due to Roentgen's confusion, the Crazy Scratching ended up injuring himself.

"Dajia, take advantage of this moment to use Horn Attack."

Dajia's eyes were sharp, and he instantly unleashed his ultimate move, Horn Attack.

With one strike, Roentgen was sent flying.  Roentgen was instantly sent out of the arena,

 disqualified.

Seeing this, the short-haired boy retracted Roentgen and released his second Pokémon, Bullfrog.

Jun Shafeng was slightly surprised to see Bullfrog was the opponent's Pokémon.

"Not many people have Bullfrogs. I didn't expect you to have one. I wonder how powerful it is."

The short-haired boy looked at his Bullfrog, a smug smile on his face.

"Back then, with my Bullfrog, I successfully earned six Gym Badges in the Fengyuan region. If it weren't for a foot injury I sustained while traveling,  I would have earned eight and entered the Fengyuan League Gym Tournament."  Shortly after Bullfrog's appearance, a large amount of moisture rose.

Jun Shafeng easily determined the Bullfrog's characteristic: moisture.
