Lefiya stirred slowly, the warm steam of the onsen curling around her like a gentle blanket. Her cheek rested against something soft yet firm—Riveria's lap. The High Elf's robe was loosely draped over them both, and one elegant hand rested lightly on Lefiya's shoulder, steady and comforting.
Her eyes fluttered open.
For a blissful second, everything felt normal. Then memory crashed back in a single, mortifying wave.
Lefiya bolted upright, cheeks flaming. "Miss Riveria! Oh—thank god… I had this weird dream… where you were naked, and—and someone was… stabbing you! Tiona and Tione were acting so strange! Even Ais had become… weird!"
Riveria tilted her head, expression serene, though the faintest hint of amusement glimmered in her emerald eyes. "Oh really? What kind of dream was it, exactly?"
Before Lefiya could stammer out an answer, a low, familiar voice cut through the steam.
"Sounds vivid."
Lefiya whipped around.
Damien lounged in the steaming water, arms spread along the smooth stone edge of the onsen. Tiona nestled against his left side, cheek pillowed on his shoulder, one arm draped possessively across his chest. Ais mirrored her on the right, golden eyes half-lidded in contentment, her silver hair floating like liquid moonlight on the surface. Both girls had claimed one of his hands, fingers intertwined with his as though it were the most natural thing in the world.
Lefiya's mouth fell open.
"AHHHH! He's still here!"
Riveria's hand settled gently on her back. "Lefiya… what is wrong?"
"My—my dream! It wasn't a dream!!!"
Riveria sighed softly, the sound almost fond. "I suppose I did predict such a reaction."
Tione emerged from the small shower area nearby, toweling off her dark hair with lazy swipes. Water droplets clung to her curves as she sauntered toward the pool. "Kid's too innocent… sheesh." She stepped into the onsen without hesitation, water rippling around her thighs, and slid in right between Damien's legs. She leaned back against his chest, sighing in contentment as his arms came around her waist.
Lefiya scrambled to her feet, pointing an accusatory finger at Damien. "How… are you all…!"
Her voice cracked. "YOU! What did you do to them?!"
Damien blinked, genuinely puzzled. "Me? Uh… nothing? I just love them?"
Tione snorted, tilting her head back to rest against his shoulder. "Lefiya… Damien is our lover. I thought you already knew that."
Tiona giggled, nuzzling closer to his side. "For me, he's my master!"
Ais's quiet voice followed, calm and matter-of-fact. "I love Damien the most."
Riveria spoke last, her tone gentle but firm. "Lefiya… you already know we're sharing a relationship with Damien. Right?"
Lefiya's hand dropped slowly to her side. "I… heard. I just thought… it was rumors! I didn't know… everyone was… like this." Her voice shrank. "It… just feels weird."
Tione smirked, sinking deeper into the water until only her shoulders showed. "Well, you better get used to it."
Lefiya stared at the scene—the casual intimacy, the easy affection, the complete lack of shame—and something inside her chest twisted uncomfortably.
"I think… I'm gonna leave now," she mumbled, turning toward the path back through the trees.
Riveria's hand lifted, as though to reach for her. "Lefiya—"
But Damien gave a small, almost imperceptible shake of his head.
Riveria paused. Her fingers curled back into her lap. She said nothing.
Lefiya walked away quickly, footsteps crunching on the mossy ground, cheeks still burning. Behind her, the soft murmur of voices and laughter drifted through the steam content, untroubled, utterly at ease.
...
A few hours later, as the Gray Jungle's perpetual twilight began to deepen and the expedition prepared to resume its push downward, Damien slipped away from the main camp. The air was cooler now, carrying the faint scent of moss and river water. He moved quietly between the tents until he reached the smallest one, set a little apart from the others—Lefiya's.
He stopped outside the flap, voice low but clear. "Lefiya… you in there?"
A small, startled sound came from inside, followed by a stuttered reply. "Ye… Yes…"
"Can I come in?"
"Uhm… Okay."
Damien ducked through the entrance. The interior was dimly lit by a single floating orb of soft blue light—Lefiya's personal magic, no doubt. She sat cross-legged on her sleeping roll, a thick tome open on her lap, though her eyes weren't on the pages anymore. They were wide, fixed on him, cheeks already tinged pink.
He walked over without hurry, lowered himself to sit beside her on the edge of the roll—close enough that their shoulders nearly brushed, but not crowding her.
"You all right?" he asked gently.
Lefiya clutched the book tighter, knuckles whitening. "Is that how you… seduce the girls? Are you going to use a spell on me? Or… or is it something else?"
Damien's lips curved into a slow, genuine smile. He leaned back on his hands, tilting his head. "I see… Is that what you think I do?" His grin widened, deliberately awkward and boyish. "Fortunately, I don't need a spell. I'm just… charming."
He flashed her an exaggerated, goofy smile—eyes crinkling at the corners, one brow raised in mock vanity.
Lefiya stared for a heartbeat. Then a tiny, involuntary chuckle escaped her. She quickly covered her mouth, but the sound lingered.
"I don't hate you, Damien," she said quietly, gaze dropping to the open book. "You don't need to come here and talk to me. It's just… I didn't expect to see something like that."
"You're right." He nodded, tone turning serious. "I already talked to the dumb twins and Ais too. They shouldn't have brought you, knowing something like that could happen. It was a total invasion of your privacy. Those three… don't exactly have the most normal way of thinking, if you know what I mean."
Lefiya gave a small, rueful nod. "I know… But I didn't expect it from Miss Riveria."
"Indeed." Damien exhaled softly. "But… you have to understand. Life is fleeting. And quick. If they didn't have fun once in a while, they'd be living a depressing one."
Lefiya frowned, confused. "What do you mean?"
"Did you know the average life expectancy of an adventurer is around twenty-five years?"
Her eyes widened. "No… I didn't."
"Well… me neither." He shrugged, a sheepish grin tugging at his mouth. "I made that up."
Lefiya blinked. Then she laughed—genuine, surprised, the sound bright in the small tent. Her shoulders relaxed a fraction.
"But," Damien continued, voice quieter now, "it's not far off. Adventurers—you, me, the others—we don't live long. Personally, I hope to live forever and have everyone live forever with me. But it's always in the back of our minds… that today could be our last."
He turned to face her fully, expression open. "And… I don't like that. Because what if I die without fulfilling anything?"
Lefiya nodded slowly. "That would be bad…"
"Exactly." He leaned forward slightly. "So what I try to do… is live life to the fullest. The girls too. Don't get me wrong—we all love each other. I love them all. But even that isn't enough. We gotta live more."
He paused, letting the words settle. "Riveria… the way you saw her… it was shocking, I know. But can you blame her? All her life has been research, adventuring, advancing magic, living up to her reputation as a High Elf. But deep down… even she needs someone to love her. To hold her." His grin returned, softer this time. "To make her put on the face that shocked you."
Lefiya lowered her head, fingers tracing the edge of her book. "Are you saying it's okay to do such things? I thought love… was genuine. About emotions. Caring. Not… that face. Or animalistic desires. Or depraved acts…"
"Who said it can't be both?"
She looked up sharply. Realization flickered in her eyes—slow, hesitant, but growing.
"Sex isn't a depraved act, Lefiya," he said gently. "It is love. Love given form. Giving each of my girls pleasure is me loving them, is it not?"
"I suppose… it can be…" She swallowed. "But you're playing around with so many girls… you can't love all of them."
"Why not?" Damien tilted his head. "Life is all about love. You love more than one parent. You love more than one friend. Why can't you love more than one lover?"
"It's different," she insisted quietly. "A lover has a different form of love than a parent or a friend."
"Yes… you're right." He nodded. "But don't forget—a lover is someone I'd want to live with forever. Share my dreams and memories with. Give them care and appreciation, while they do the same. And I can do that for all of them… and they can do it for me."
He met her gaze steadily. "I didn't force them. They chose me. Personally, I wouldn't want to share them with another man. But they don't mind sharing me. So why should I deny them that?"
He leaned back again, voice softening. "I'm an ambitious person. They can see that. I'm strong—they know that. I'm a caring man—they know that. They chose me because I can provide what they need: love and desire. And I chose them because they fulfill me."
Lefiya looked down at her book again, silent for a long moment. When she spoke, her voice was small. "I guess… I understand. It won't be easy to accept… but I won't judge anymore. I've learned today… that love can be extremely expressive."
Damien's smile warmed. "Yes. And I wouldn't mind teaching you more. Come to me whenever you feel like it."
She lifted her eyes to his, hesitant but curious. "Does that mean… I can… be a part of this?"
He grinned—slow, confident, but kind. "It's all up to you, Lefiya. You're the one who has to choose first. If you're ready and willing… I promise I won't disappoint you." His gaze softened, lingering on her face. "Especially not a beauty like you."
He stood then, brushing off his pants, and moved toward the tent flap. At the entrance he paused, glancing back with a small, reassuring smile.
"Think about it."
Then he was gone, the flap falling closed behind him.
Lefiya sat alone in the quiet glow of her orb-light. The book lay forgotten in her lap. She stared at the empty space where he'd been sitting, fingers tracing the edge of the page without really seeing it.
After a long silence, she whispered to herself—barely audible, cheeks flushing anew.
"…Me… beautiful… Maybe I can…"
