"It is time," Vritra said quietly. "If we defeat them, the war turns in our favor."
Alcy laughed, the sound bright and fierce. "Finally. I was getting bored."
She leaped from the wall before Vritra could respond, her body already wreathed in the aura of the Erymanthian Boar. She crashed into the Dragon Army's front lines like a meteor, sending soldiers flying in all directions.
Vritra followed, her shadows trailing behind her like a living cloak.
Albion's white eyes fixed on Vritra as she approached. His face twisted with rage, the calm facade he had maintained for centuries cracking.
"Traitor," he hissed, his voice carrying across the battlefield. "You dare show your face here?"
Yinglong placed a hand on his arm, her golden eyes calm. "Calm yourself, brother. She will be dealt with appropriately in time. There is no need for anger."
Albion's jaw tightened, but he did not argue. He simply watched as Vritra's shadows coiled around her, ready to strike.
Alcy did not wait for introductions.
She lunged.
Her body became a blur of motion, the aura of the Erymanthian Boar surrounding her like a second skin. She crashed into Albion with the force of a battering ram, her massive sword swinging toward his chest.
Albion raised his hand.
White aura erupted from his body, forming the shape of a massive western dragon—its blue eyes blazing, its jaws open in a silent roar. The impact of Alcy's charge met the aura head-on, and she was stopped cold, her sword rebounding from the holy energy.
"Impressive," Albion said, his voice cold. "But not impressive enough."
He flicked his wrist, and the aura dragon lunged, forcing Alcy to retreat.
Yinglong ascended into the sky, her golden form shifting into that of a massive western serpent-like dragon. Her scales gleamed like polished gold, her eyes burning with ancient power. She opened her mouth, golden energy gathering at her throat—
A black head of a dragon slammed into her neck.
Vritra's massive form materialized from the shadows, her dragon body almost identical in size to Yinglong's. Dark clouds followed her like a cloak, her yellow eyes blazing with intensity. She appeared like a mountain on fire, her scales black as midnight, her presence overwhelming.
Yinglong crashed to the ground, the impact sending shockwaves rippling across the battlefield. She scrambled to her feet, her golden eyes wide with surprise.
"You dare—"
Vritra's dark flames erupted from her maw, forcing Yinglong to raise a barrier of golden light to block the attack.
"Traitor or not," Vritra said, her voice rumbling like thunder, "I will not let you destroy what I have sworn to protect."
The two battles raged across the field.
Alcy faced Albion with reckless abandon, her twelve labors manifesting in rapid succession. She threw herself at him again and again, her sword carving arcs of destruction through the air.
The Erymanthian Boar's charge. The Cretan Bull's hold. The Ceryneian Hind's antlers. Each attack forced Albion to defend, his white aura flickering under the assault.
But he was not idle.
His sword swept toward her, forcing her to roll away. His aura dragon lunged, its jaws snapping at her heels. She danced around him, her movements fluid and precise, but she could not land a decisive blow.
Albion was simply too strong. His holy power repelled her attacks, his defenses unbreachable.
Vritra, meanwhile, was dominating Yinglong.
The golden dragon was powerful, but she was not a fighter. Her attacks were predictable, her movements slow. Vritra's dark flames burned through her barriers, her claws carving deep gashes into her golden scales.
Yinglong retreated, her form flickering as she tried to regain her footing.
"You are weak," Vritra said, her voice flat. "You always were."
Mid-battle, Alcy made a decision.
She pulled back from Albion, her body shifting as she redirected her momentum. She crashed into Yinglong instead, her sword slamming into the golden dragon's side.
Yinglong screamed, her form wavering.
"Switch!" Alcy shouted.
Vritra understood instantly. She turned from Yinglong and met Albion's charge, her dark flames clashing with his white aura.
The shift in tactics was immediate.
Vritra's power was the opposite of Albion's. His holy energy burned against her darkness, but her shadows consumed his light. They were evenly matched, their battle becoming a war of attrition.
Alcy, meanwhile, was having the time of her life.
Yinglong was a poor fighter, her attacks sloppy and predictable. Alcy moved around her with ease, her sword carving deep gashes into the golden dragon's form.
"Come on!" Alcy taunted. "I thought you were a dragon!"
Yinglong snarled, golden energy gathering at her throat. Alcy grinned and charged forward, her sword driving into the dragon's open mouth.
The battle moved.
They crashed through the forest on the edge of Orario, their forms tearing through trees and stone. The ground shook beneath their feet. The sky was painted with flashes of white, gold, black, and shadow.
Vritra and Albion clashed in a storm of light and darkness. His holy sword met her claws, the impact sending shockwaves rippling through the forest.
"You were always the weakest of us," Albion snarled. "Always hiding behind Ashborn's shadow."
Vritra's eyes blazed. "And you were always the most arrogant. What has your arrogance brought you? A war you cannot win?"
Albion's face twisted with rage. He raised his hand, and a blade of pure white light materialized in his grip.
"You want to see arrogance?" His voice was cold, controlled. "Then watch."
The sword grew.
It expanded in his hands, becoming a blade of impossible size. It was the size of a ten-story building, its edges gleaming with holy energy. The light from the sword illuminated the entire forest, casting long shadows across the battlefield.
Albion swung.
The blade carved through the air, cutting a path of destruction through the forest. Trees exploded. The ground split. Vritra was caught in the blast, her massive form thrown backward with incredible force.
She crashed through the forest, through the outer defenses of Orario, and slammed into the city wall. The impact sent cracks spiderwebbing across the ancient stone.
The wall collapsed.
Alcy was sent flying as well, the shockwave from Albion's attack throwing her through the air. She crashed into a pile of rubble, her body screaming in protest.
She forced herself to her feet, her eyes scanning the battlefield.
Vritra was rising from the rubble, her form flickering but intact. Dark flames coiled around her, healing her wounds.
Albion stood at the edge of the forest, his massive sword floating beside him, its blade gleaming with holy light.
The battle was not over.
Vritra rose to her full height, her yellow eyes fixed on Albion. Alcy moved to stand beside her, her sword raised.
"Round two," Alcy said, her grin returning.
Albion's lips curved into a cold smile. "Round two."
