Midnight occurred.
The main group all in beds, sleeping .
The moon glistened with an odd colour, its light was dull and grey instead of silver-white.
The shining light came through the window inside lennox's room , beside him on his left the book was wide open on the bed. It was on the chapter 'elipse' .
That page of the book was absorbing the light of the moon, its pages started to become brighter and words began to appear on the bottom of the page covered by red ink in a tint of black highlight.
The shining light of the moon became a little brighter , its colour faded and returned back to its original silver-white.
A Zephyr broke through lennox's sleep, he woke up slowly opening his eyes and trying to sit.
His eye caught the highlighted words , he squinted his eyes to focus at them and read them out loud .
'Those who have the desire to seek power always have a cause. Life is a mystery '.
The shinning light answered to his call and broke out of the book , as the beam of light came out , each letter was being erased from the book , lennox was startled and his mind dvelled in fear and terror , he mind woke up . The beam of white shinning light attacked lennox , he moved his arms towards to his face and guarded himself .
The beam went through his guard and inside his body, lennox moves his hands and tries to concentrate to know what happened to the beam of energy .After some thinking he realized its absorbed into his own body.
Thinking of it as threat he casts upon himself 'Naze' . The spell deforms back into mana and goes back into the body. The energy refused to heal the wound as there was nothing to recover.
Lennox learned that it wasn't an attack but rather power which had stored in his body.Lenox felt odd , 'who could stored it inside?'.
Lennox losing consciousness fell into deep slumber and woke up after 9 hours.
The trio repeated their training for 3 more days.
Lennox suddenly woke up , his eyes wide open and panting, he focused his mind . His body was feeling odd as if it had gotten stronger.
Lennox saw the open book but couldn't find the red colored words.
It was strange how that beam of power got inside it, the first he checked it was never there.
Lennox tried to calm himself and focus on the future and leave the past behind.
Lennox took the book in hand and started to read its capabilities, upon reading it he understood something.
'This spell is divided into two parts , the first being capable of practicing while the other one had to be done in one go without any practise . If this fails , I'm done for '.
Lennox begins to practise elipse, the trio at the park had some successful outcomes.
Melissa's Empty Null strike had managed to tear apart the object but faded right after .She tried on a slide in the park , the slash penetrated the slide. She was happy about it,.but she had destroyed some property of the government. Good for her since everyone used magic , this was a normal thing that occurred.
Julia's crucial blade reached insane speed in a matter of three days . In a 100m track it could finish it within 3 seconds. Her control over blade got better as she could now focus at it even if she was doing two things at once.
Lance at night time practised daily ,though his ball wasn't as good as he expected. The highest it could go was a 3 feet range of explosion.
Although it had only been 3 days ,this was still higher than their expectations, lance on the other hand had only gotten little stronger than before.
It was the fifth day now , just two more days left. The three came again to the ground, with each day passing by tension grew , they were still uncertain about victory.
A man appeared at the front of the ground in white top and black tracks, his hands in his pockets with messed up hair and a normal expression.
The three noticed and focused on the person.
The three were shocked with excitement to see lennox standing . Lennox walked to them 'hey guys'.
Julia concerned asked : You ok? You look like you haven't got much sleep.
Lennox calmly : Sort of , I have been practicing elipse but in the process, its hard to gain sleep, it requires hours of practice.
Melissa gently asked: Could you show us what occurs in the spell?
Lennox : I still haven't learned it properly, either way I'm gonna practice it somewhere else.
Lance questioned him : Why not here?
Lennox : I don't wanna ruin the suprise for you.all. * he said while smiling *
Lance suspicious: Then why are you here ?
Lennox : To check up on you guys and to inform you all about my progress, I'm gonna come tomorrow also. So did you all master your spells.
Julia : kinda, I still have to improve the speed of my mine, lance still has to increase in power and as for Melissa, she will tell that.
Melissa: it just has to become more powerful , it fades after an object is penetrated.
Three show Lennox their spells .
Lennox amazed : For 4 days of traning that is still impressive, one more day of training will be even for you Melissa. But don't stop , we don't know what they are capable of.
Melissa smiles : Thanks Lennox.
He blushes a bit , turn towards Julia and lance and grabs them . He takes them away from Melissa.
Julia : Whats the hurry Lennox?
Lennox : Im gonna tell you both something about your spells that will help you in the contest.
Lance : Wait , why not her .
Lennox: He spell doesn't have those qualities.
Melissa in the distance looking at them with dot like eyes , clueless , she thinks ' What are they talking about, wait did i say something wrong, uh I must have . Way to go Melissa, they must be feeling akward near me.
After some discussion Lennox came back with them , Melissa said to them "Sorry for making you all feel awkward".
Lance : Why would you say that?
Melissa: Because you all went away from me and talked . I thought it was about me.
Lance : It wasn't anything like that, just a small discussion about -
Lennox cuts him off ' Dont worry it's a suprise for the contest. I'm sure you will be amazed.
Melissa happily: Oh , ok.
Julia and lance pov : This contest is gonna be extraordinary.
Lennox : Did anything else happen while I was away?
Julia : Oh right I forgot, Sophia also came on the first day.
Lennox : Seriously, why though?
Julia : Thats the same thing I asked. She said she came to support us.
Lennox pov : What was she even gonna do?
Lennox : Anything else ?
Julia : There was this small incident.
Melissa : What incident?
Lance sighs
Julia while holding her laugh : A nearby playground caught flames and was burned by lance's white ball.
Lennox : Im... Wow lance congrats.
Lance : It was a mistake .
More two passed by , the final day of practicing arrived.
Melissa thought to herself : The previous two days were odd, lennox showed up , lance and Julia stayed till evening but in these two days , they left with Lennox around 12. I still stayed till evening.
Even today rather than just starting , they are warming up. I wonder what they're planning. Whatever it is , it scares me. My training is going good so far. I just hope we all win.
Today even Lennox stayed with them till the evening.
Melissa went up to them asked.
' You guys ready for tomorrow? '
Julia chuckles: To be honest I'm still not sure but atleast I'm not nervous anylonger.
Lance with a slight frown : I feel the same but I can't let my training go to waste.
Melissa: Lennox , how is your spell coming up , I can't even facing two.
Lance anxious : Om my , I forgot about that .
Lennox : Hah Its ok , I think I can manage this.
Melissa: Good luck Lennox, ill be cheering for you.
Same here , lance and Julia said.
Lennox serious : Thank you all for your support. Tomorrow, we end this nightmare.
The three nodded in agreement.
Finally the day they had been training for showed up.
At Dawn ,people of the nation, students and the school staff gathered in Perlin Arena. Its 6 in the morning.
Perlin Arena: A huge spherical Arena of 200 meters, its seating area was of hundred and the ground was another hundred. It had five floors of seating , the first floor was 8 feet above the ground,from the bottom each floor elevated 3 feet with stone benches all across .Only the first floor had a railing of 4 feet.
It had stairs on four sides of the arena, all diagonal to the other like a plus sign. The ground floor was made of marble. It had no roof. It had two doorways on opposite ends .
The headmaster on the mic
Today .We have gathered here at the Perlin Arena to accommodate the fierce battles of juniors vs seniors. This is the 'Breakeven Point Tournament '.
Only half of the audience shouted in excitement, the other half was nervous and worried for their classmates.
' I hope they go easy on them ' said a random student.
Footsteps were heard, a group of people came through the doorways. There was five of them , each in a pant like black track with two stripes on the sides but each one of them had different colours. Each of them wore a different colour T-shirt , a black blazer on them . One had a hoodie.
Headmaster : Ladies and Gentlemen, meet the azek members.
They go by ranks , at first rank we have Ren Azard.
*The guy with blue eyes ,wearing a black t-shirt inside , in a hoodie , red stripes and a sword at his back.*
Then second rank Sio Falco. *Guy with black short hair, the middle part slightly longer, good looking face in white stripes on track and white t-shirt .*
Rank three , Flynn Grozel * Guy with raven short spike type hair , good looking and in reddish orange t-shirt and orange stripes on track.*
Rank four , Gvel Lauren * Guy with blonde hair spiting to the sides end and curving downwards to the eyebrow,good looking , a green t-shirt with a brown symbol on it and green stripes on bottom. *
And finally Rank five , Wale Zenrow * Guy with bluish- black right sided upward shifted hair, gorgeous, with a blue t-shirt and dark blue stripes on bottom.*
The girls in the audience blushing drooling over them 'They're all so handsome '
A random guy says from the crowd "Dont underestimate them for their looks , they're all Nightmare fuel".
From the other side , footsteps echoed through the arena . A group of four walked into the arena , the crowd in shock from the view.
Headmaster announces ' Here we have the challengers , Lennox * In a white sleeve less t-shirt tucked into a black track with crimson red stripes on the sides and its lace black as the void , wearing a purple stash around his neck and black biker gloves( not covering fingers fully) and boots without shoelace, hair messed up and face serious lookingtowards the azek members*.
Lance stancer * In a black soft and smooth jeans , a grey baggy jacket with blue sleeves , hair combed to the right with left side being spiky upward , calm with a smile.*
Up next Melissa, * Her beautiful long black hair facing downwards , wearing pitch black top with a symbol of a clenched fist tucked into a light green camo pant and wearing a black jacket on ,serious scary face*
And finally Julia * In a long sleeve white top tucked into a red long skirt reaching a little below her knees,a sword on her back and in ponytail, front hair dressed downwards and wearing white soft shoes, calm and confident *
Headmaster pov : What is up with them , wearing different things , eben the azek members are way formal than them.
An announcement is given by the headmaster
"Attention challengers, one at a time must go and choose your opponent. Go forward and point who you want to fight".
Lance : So , whos going first?
Lennox says "I'll go" and walks towards them . He points on two people , Ren and Sio saying " You and Him".
The audience goes nuts from his actions, a person from the says " Is he crazy , fighting one already is suicide but two".
Lennox moves back to his place . Lance goes next and points at Flynn and returns to his place.
Julia starts but is stopped by Melissa " Let me go first", Julia agrees in confusion . Melissa chooses Gvel. She comes back.
Julia starts to tear up with happiness and looks at her friends " They left the weakest one for me , thanks you guys" she thinks.
Her friends raise their right hand a little and give her a thumbs up with a smile.
Headmaster Announces " Challengers, choose among yourselves who wish to fight first".
Lance :I think I should go .
Julia : why not go from weakest to strongest ?
Lance : No just let me have the first match.
After some agreement Lance goes forward, the other three are advised to sit on the bench protected by magic fields.
Lance stands nervous , seeing tension his friends cheer for him. The tension inside cools down .
"Flynn Grozel, please step forward". Says the Headmaster.
Both stand at opposite end , the headmaster explains " If the person surrenders , you have to leave them, if the person is dying , then please leave them . Even if blood comes , we can't stop the fight".
Begin!
Flynn stood looking amused, brought forth his arm , an incantation occurred which threw a barrage of fireballs.
Lance couldn't dodge so guarded up, the fireball on contact made a small explosion. Flynn mocked him
"Wow , your stronger than you look. For a second I thought you would die to a basic spell".
Hearing his words , anger flooded in him . He spoke
"You'll regret underestimating me"
Lance lunged at him , Flynn seeing him close threw a right punch . Lance quickly dodged that and hit him with an uppercut in the abdomen.
Lance stepped back not sure what happened, Flynn's top was creezed.
Flynn : That was a strong punch , too bad im not that weak.You wanted to fight superiors right , let me educate you.
Flynn raised both arms fully extended to his sides with fingers wide open.
"Ignis"
*In slow motion * His fingers started to turn orange , every finger fired arrow shape fire bullets rapidly , the bullets flew very fast.
The bullets sharp still bounces when hitting any surface, multiple of bounced in the arena , the audience was protected by magic barriers, it bounced off the barrier.
The fire bullets were lunging at Lance , in the middle he stood shooting like crazy.
Melissa anxious : Will he be ok?
Lennox : We can just hope.
Julia in mind: please hang in there , don't lose.
Lance moved his body back to dodge the bullets, he moved forward, he moved to the right but a bullet hit him.
The bullet only broke at contact, no explosion just damage .
After one bullet , his wasn't on his guard then each one of them began to struck Lance. Flynn seeing he finally got hit moved his hands towards Lance to launch more directly at him.
Fire bullets hit him from everywhere ,his body was being pushed from all sides. After some seconds Flynn stopped and lowered his arms thinking he was done for.
Lance dropped to his knees and hands on the floor to balance himself. He took deep breathes and stood up.
Lance ( disappointed): A bit weaker than I had imagined.,
A ball forms in his hand ,"white ball" Lance said in his mind.
He threw the ball at Flynn.
Flynn irritated but didn't let under his skin and not knowing what it was . The ball made a big explosion, smoke covered Flynn.
Flynn's top was slightly burned .
Ren watching from the bench felt something was odd.
Flynn : Fine let's do it your way.
He looked him in his eyes , they shook with a bell sound.
A orange magic circle of 2 feet forms under Flynn
"Ilint "
Flynn bent down and used his finger to touch inside the circle. The he touched there was a huge flame which attacked Lance from below , burning his c.othes slightly .
Flynn removes his finger : Pretty unique isn't it? I can just touch this circle and a flame will come from below.
Lance feeling the hotness while coughing( That almost burned me, I gotta be careful)
Lennox observing from the bench : They all are using only one element.
Julia and Melissa: huh.?
Lennox : Look at his clothes , he has a orange top . Which resembles his flames.
Julia : Then that means ..
Lennox : They are all rankers in one element. Flynn in fire, Gvel is grass and ground , Wale is water and Sio is air.
Julia : What about Ren.
Lennox : Im not sure . Based on his clothes it seems he is of Laser.
Julia : Laser... that exists.
Lennox : I think so , I just hope Lance wins this.
Flynn uses his fingers on the circle, lance tries to jump from to place to place to avoid .
He jumps a flame occurs in front of him, he gets burned . He jumps to get out. While running from flames " I can't go on like this "
While running he throws a white ball at Flynn,the almost reaches Flynn , he uses the flame to kill but it explodes.
The explosion makes Flynn get knocked out of the circle.
Flynn lands on his face while skidding on the floor.
Stoods up irritated . His right hand starts to glows slowly, he raise his left hand "Igna" arrow fire bullets get fired . The bullets bounces but something new happens.
Lance: He plans to use that again.
The bullets hit four sides like north , east , west , south.
The bullets get absorbed into the wall it opens a four portals of orangish-red colour.
The portals shot rapid sharp fire bullets but it didn't bounce rather running in a circle on the barrier.
The bullets formed a full circle with insane speed, the portals closed. The bullets came to the middle and merged into a large block of fire ( rectangular) and fell on Lance.
Lance shocked immediately formed a shield above him. The large block of fire created intense heat.
Lance struggling: This heat will kill me , I need to kill it.
He lowered his left hand from the shield and starts to form white ball. He fuses more mana into it. His right hand starts to burn and tear.
He uses his strength and pushes the white against his shield and throws it up with all force.
The white ball caused an explosion breaking the remaining fire into pieces which slowly disintegrate.
On the other side Flynn's fist glows bright orange . Flynn jumps lunges at Lance, his right hand already raised up and wide open goes to hit Lance like a slap from above.
"Ignar" Flynn said
*Slow motion * Lance barely moves to the left but gets grazed on the right shoulder ."ouch!"
Flynn's hand touchs the floor , his hand releases a big amount of lava on the floor. The floor melts to a certain extent.
Flynn raises his hand and turns towards Lance with a serious look, lance was terrified on what he just witnessed, his shoulder's scratch melted almost to the bone causing him a deep burn.
He grunts feeling extreme pain and touches his shoulder but burns his palm, Flynn looked him with pitiful look.
Flynn rushed at him with a punch to end this , lance used his mana on his right fist "please work" , a grayish black glove like armor covers his fist.
He throws a punch at Flynn.
The moment their punches collide the air around becomes intense , the presure increases, lance's forearm begins to burn and tear the skin.
Lance gives his all " Haaaaaaah" , his fist breaks Flynn's lava hand then his hand strikes the face upwards.
An explosion tossed Flynn high in the air.
Lennox smiled deviously * Flashback*
" I'm gonna teach you both something that will help in the contest "
*Present day*
Lennox pov : Good to know it helped him.
Looks at Julia " If this is fire then her opponent worries me, I guess I'll have to wait " Lennox thought
Flynn started to fall down ,realizing he's falling . Flynn used one arm to cast (" Ivel").
Big flames come out his left arm , the flames go towards the ground slowing his momentum.
His speed decreased but still landed on his left shoulder , injuring it.
Lance was panting and in extreme pain, that blow shattered the spirit of his arm . Lance had lost control of his arm.
Flynn panting began to stand , Lance using all his power into a final attack , his left hand slowly forms a ball .
Lance's left eye was sore , he closed his eye . The ball finally form , lance took a deep breath and threw the ball t Flynn.
*slow motion * The ball flew towards him , Flynn raised his finger and fired a fire bullet to it.
Lennox observes the ball , he stands in realization , his eyes widened. The balls color was grey with a white line on the middle.
"Black ball' he whispered looking tensed.
Julia and Melissa hearing "what" .
The fire bullet almost about to clash, lennox freaks out "Nooo".
The bulet gets absorbed in the ball, light breaks out of the ball. The next moment a massive explosion is caused.A huge fog had covered the arena .
Melissa and Julia were flabbergasted. Lennox stood straight worried thinking of lance.
The explosion shatters the barriers and flings Flynn , he tried to stay balanced but gets thrown in the wall cracking it into several parts. Air tackled the crowd as an uninvited guest.
The arena shook, lance due to the explosion went flying into the audience.
The crowd started panicking, screams covered the arena . The smoke slowly disappeared , Flynn had lost consciousness , he had been declared to be defeated.
The headmaster looked in the audience for lance . A man woke up feeling both hands dislocated , blood dripping from his arms, mouth and head.
Headmaster : " Ladies and Gentlemen , it seems we have a winner . Give claps for Lance Stancer.
Lance's pov , lance losing strength in his body let go of it. Lance fell down , a person from the crowd caught him before he touched the ground.
Sio : Weak isn't he.
The weaker ranks also saw him as pathetic.
Flynn was admitted to the hospital , lance was medicated and was given to lennox to rest as lance had requested to spectate the match before passing out. He was seated with comfort on the bench . A large bandage was tied to his arm and head.
Lennox : For a second I had lost hope.
Julia :His will is strong, for him it would take much worse than this.
Melissa sat beside Lance, she lowered his head and kept it on her shoulder.
Meanwhile staff embers were helping in repairing the stadium and recreating barriers.
Julia : Im glad he's ok . Rest peacefully Lance. I guess it's my turn now.
Melissa: Good luck.
Julia : Thanks, I won't let you down.
Lennox sat just observing her.
Julia steps forward.
Headmaster announces: Wale Zenrow , please step forward.
Wale comes out of the barrier.
Julia stood in front nervous.
Wale came towards her with a smile .
" Hey beautiful young lady what's your name?"
Julia with unease : Thats none of your concern.
Wale : pretty rude , don't you think.
"Begin"
Julia pulls the sword out ,removes the sheath from her back and drops it on the floor.
Julia grabs the hilt by both and hands and points the blade towards wale.
Wale sighs : Fine.
Wale bent down and put his palm on the floor , the next second his palm slowly shining, the pebbles began to shake .
From the ground a tidal wave started rising up surging towards her at incredible speed .
The rose up to 9 foot and 7feet wide .
Seeing the wave Julia's expression changed from confidence to afraid.
The tsunami almost at the distance to strike her , she swinger her blade vertically at it , cutting it in half but that didn't stop it.
The tsunami changed projectary and attacked her both sides, the water splashed at her soaking her clothes and hair.
She was dumbfounded , she looked Wale , he had a soft smile .
" You must-have thought it would kill you."
Julia feeling embarrassed she launched a air slash , Wale turned serious a brief moment .
The came his way , he raised arms and formed a water bubble big enough to trap the slash.
The water devoured the air pressure inside it , reducing it nothing .
Soon the water bubble had vanished into thin air.
The moment the bubble vanished he looked up , saw a kunai rushing his way.
The kunai about to touch his chest, wale caught it by the blade.
Julia " He fell for it" The kunai started to shake and in an instant flew back to Julia tearing Wales skin.
Aagh! Wale was caught off guard.
Blood slowly dripped at the floor, he poured water on it to neutralize the bruise.
Wale turned serious , his bloodied fist was clenched.
"Dont think I'm like Flynn to tell my spells out loud"
He raised his other arm towards her , she watched the ground turn light blue slowly.
Wale suddenly moved his arm upwards to the sky, a huge water spring went upward taking Julia with it.
The spring threw Julia in the air ,the water left the ground . Its roots left the floor , the water floated upwards.
Wale giving a strong intimidating look held his arm upwards , the water gathered at a point and became one single unit.
Wale exhaled and dropped his hand with immense pressure . The water turned into whirlpool midair and In instant tackled Julia , the Shockwave was insane it broke the air and altered reality.
Sio spoke , " He lacks the power but has the skills"
Julia was barely holding onto her blade. The whirlpool was about to crash to the ground. Julia was overwhelmed by the speed .
They crashed , Julia was broken her dress got torn apart from her knees, her body was greatly injured but the pain signals couldn't reach the brain, she was still able to breathe just barely. The wave at contact splashed everywhere, Julia had lost the will to fight , her hand loosened to the presure, the blade fell across the arena almost behind Wale.
Wale looked at the blade without any emotion , he turned towards her . She was coughing very badly as if she had been drowned. She tried to stand but had her legs losing strength. She stood on bent legs shaking with pain as each second passed.
Wale raises his arm turned around , he closes his thumb and moves his fingers upright.
Water surged from within the floor , as huge bubble of water moved up going through her body from body.
The water bubble reached her head. The bubble stayed at her head, the water vaporized the oxygen , Julia started to suffocate.
Wale with a mocking , calm voice : Pretty girls like you should've just sat in the crowd and watched but you decided to challenge death, ill fulfill your wish.
Julia thinking to herself with less conscious: This is not what I wanted.
She could see the seriousness of Wale but her vision was very blur, Julia had a glance at her blade.
Melissa :We should help her!
Lennox : No , she's trying to do something .
Melissa focused at her.
She tried to pop the bubble by her hands as a distraction, (" Ace card") she moved her index finger towards her face .
The blade levitated and pierced Wale , the moment the blade stabbed him , four ace cards formed and got out of the blade while spinning .
The cards two infront and two in back reversed and stabbed him in the chest and back.
Wale lost control of the bubble , it exploded. Julia still with some energy inside stood up feeling cold hearted.
She walked to him , he fell on his knees looking up at Julia, he tried to cast but couldn't as if his mana had lost power.
Julia pulled the blade out and threatened him to surrender. Wale did not speak but stayed still bold.
She pierced the blade into his shoulder and forced him to the ground, she removes the blade and points the tip at the neck.
Wale feeling a bit of fear from her creepy look , he forfeit.
Headmaster: It seems Julia has won the match.
The arena wasn't expecting such an outcome .
Lennox was happy , he kept on a smile on his face and congratulated her.
The crowd went silent , the headmaster was stunned but looked at the challengers to see if they are ready.
The remaining azek members were speechless to know that their own kind had given up .
Melissa congratulated Julia and comforted her that it's over.
Wale was sent home.
Melissa with a merciless look went out the barrier without saying anything.
Headmaster announces: Gvel Lauren , please step out.
Gvel kept his hands in his pockets. He walked with ego .
"Begin"
Gvel pulled his hands out and from his sides, he raises his hands to sky, the palms touched each other .
A four sided wall rose around Melissa and closed the area above locking her inside .
The crowd started to become excited.
Lance finally woke up , his vision seeing two people fight, he came to his senses.
Gvel lowered his hand and started to compress the spell into a small unit, the walls began to shrink .
Melissa unleashed a white slash penetrating the walls , Gvel was confused on how she broke out.
"Empty Null" Melissa shouted and swinger her arm vertically at Gvel.
A powerful white slash of great width lunged at him , he began to sweat and bent down touching the floor " Stone wall" .
A huge wall rose within the ground , the stone was torn apart from the middle , the slash broke through and rushed at him.
He tried to make a stone shield but in the formation the slash broke through and entered his body.
The immense power circulated across his body, it went joint to joint dislocating it.
The power traveled throughout the body , Gvel fell to the ground om his face.
Melissa giving a cold stare started to walk closer to him, she put her leg on him and pushed him around.
She grabbed him by the collar and punched him on the face, his nose was broken , his jaw was cracked .
Feeling the pain , he thought to give up but couldn't feeling the pressure his members.
Feeling no mercy she spins him and throws him with brute force.
Gvel struck the wall , it shattered into debris.
His body was just able to acknowledge the pain , his eyes crying out on the floor he shouted "I give up".
Another outcome left the crowd open mouthed , the challengers seeing the outcome.
Lennox : Ehh?
Lance : Ehh?
Julia : Ehh?
Ehhhhh! They yelled in unison.
