Anne Gilligan felt like she had simply been going through the motions the past few days. Ever since the incident within the Lochxen Forest, she hadn't really known how to act. Her entire routine had been thrown into disarray. All because of one young man she had 'been with' a single time.
Don't get her wrong, she worried for the students who were in danger during that incident. But when she sat watching the screens that projected it all, watching what should have been an entertaining viewing turn into something terrible, what she felt wasn't just sympathy for the students' plights. She felt a pang in her heart. A pang that caused it to ache harder than it ever had in her decades of living.
Anne was married and she liked to think she cared for her husband. Whatever their circumstances were now, at some point, maybe the first few years after they had Lea, they had been happy.
