"You just recruited an apocalypse-tier pet," Naomi muttered.
"Correct," Lux shot back, smug. "Anyway…"
And then, he gestured toward the mansion clock again.
"It's almost ten."
All four women blinked.
Mira's eyes widened.
Naomi paled.
Ely gasped.
Rava's tentacles flared in panic.
"TEN?!" Naomi yelped. "I'm doomed!"
"I missed my meeting with the new buyers!" Rava groaned, dragging a tentacle down her face.
"My call with the Eastern Syndicate—!" Mira turned around and sprinted out of the kitchen.
Lux exhaled and sipped his coffee again.
The taste had cooled slightly, less sinful dark roast, more bitter consequence, but still better than watching his mansion spiral into professional meltdown.
