Lux stared into Corvus as if he didn't sure he heard him right.
He inhaled.
He exhaled.
Then he repeated slowly, as if the words themselves might rearrange into something less insane if he spoke them out loud.
"I woke the ancestral incubus domain… at full strength… for the first time in nearly a century?"
Corvus nodded.
A slow, deliberate bob of the raven's head.
Lux blinked.
Once.
Twice.
His brain, now mostly restored by emergency caffeine, attempted to process the sentence like it was a financial report from a collapsing kingdom.
"Wait," he said, pointing at Corvus with his coffee mug. "I thought the ancestral domain was stagnant. Dormant. Hibernation mode. The whole thing went quiet centuries ago."
Corvus shifted his claws on the chair back.
"Nope."
The raven said it with the cheerful tone of someone reporting a house fire while holding popcorn.
"Congratulations," Corvus added.
"You woke it up."
