Chapter 190 - Chapter 190: Mewtwo’s Mega Evolution (Y Form) Complete

Team Rocket—arrogant, ruthless, and frighteningly efficient.

Once they set a plan in motion, they would see it through no matter the cost—ethics, decency, or collateral damage be damned. Their rise had been built upon cunning, deceit, and a willingness to use any means necessary. And for those very reasons, the world both feared and despised them.

Aside from a select few top-tier Trainers who stood at the summit, most people went pale at the mere mention of the name Team Rocket, terrified of getting tangled up with that group.

And Team Rocket was proud of that fear.

They were criminals, yes—but not ordinary criminals.

After all, what other organization on this planet commanded such awe and dread at once?

Yet… even within this powerful syndicate, there was one person whom even Giovanni—the boss of Team Rocket himself—secretly feared.

That man's name was Haru.

Even though Team Rocket had never faced him in an all-out confrontation, his presence was a thorn they could never pull out—a constant reminder that someone out there could shake their foundations.

In fact, Giovanni and Haru had already crossed paths once, back when the Mewtwo Project first began.

At that time, in their attempt to obtain Mew's genetic material, Giovanni had decided to target both Mew and the Trainer protecting it—Haru. To ensure the operation's success, he had even dispatched several of Team Rocket's core executives.

The force they'd mobilized was so overwhelming that even taking down one of the Elite Four wouldn't have been a problem. One of them was even a tremendously powerful Psychic.

And yet—that mission ended in utter humiliation.

Of the three executives sent, only one returned alive. One was handed over to Officer Jenny, and the other vanished without a trace.

The one handed over to Officer Jenny was easy enough to deal with—give him a spoon and let him dig his way out, or just arrange a "medical parole" so he could return to his life of crime.

But the missing one… that was a bigger problem.

According to intelligence reports, the missing member was Sabrina, their resident psychic powerhouse.

She had fallen into Haru's hands.

And for reasons no one could explain, Haru—who was normally the type to avoid unnecessary trouble—had actually decided to keep her.

It wasn't until several weeks later that Team Rocket finally received word about Sabrina's fate.

When Giovanni heard, his first instinct had been to send a rescue team immediately.

Sabrina wasn't weak—far from it. As a gifted Psychic, she was one of Giovanni's most valuable assets. Losing her would've been a waste—a pawn too useful to discard so easily.

But when Sabrina finally resurfaced, she was no longer the same person.

The once cold, stoic girl now wore a pink magical-girl outfit, and her eyes sparkled with star-shaped pupils like some overzealous idol from a doomed pop group.

And yet, looks were deceiving—Magical Girl Sabrina was far more terrifying than any idol could ever hope to be.

This new "Sabrina 2.0" was not only stronger than before but somehow exuded an overwhelming, almost weaponized femininity—like she had awakened some kind of Super Female Gene to match Haru's godlike presence.

Declaring slogans like "In the name of the moon, I'll punish you!" she began launching merciless assaults on every Team Rocket base she could find.

Since she knew the organization's secrets, the locations of their branch offices, and even personnel movements, her one-woman crusade dealt tremendous damage to Team Rocket's operations across both Kanto and Paldea.

For a time, panic spread through the ranks.

Giovanni and his executives soon reached a grim conclusion: their most powerful Psychic had been brainwashed—transformed into one of Haru's star-crazed fanatics.

All of her attacks, her defiance, her theatrics—everything was an attempt to earn Haru's "praise" and "punishment."

Even Giovanni himself found the situation maddening.

He wanted to eliminate her outright, but the opportunity never presented itself.

And worse, he couldn't figure out how Haru had managed to brainwash Sabrina in the first place. Whatever method he used, it had worked frighteningly well—almost as if she were… high on something.

Giovanni couldn't possibly know how close he was to the truth.

Because Sabrina was high—just not on drugs. Her addiction was Haru's homemade "Ice popsicle."

But beyond the psychological manipulation, there was another reason Giovanni feared Haru: his strength.

If anyone understood the true extent of Haru's power, it was Giovanni.

At first, Giovanni had dismissed Haru as a lucky fool—a kid who happened to gain Mew's favor.

But the deeper he dug, the more alarmed he became.

Legendary Pokémon. Mythicals. Ultra Beasts. Even mysterious Pokémon from Paldea's Zero Lab—none of them were ordinary.

Especially that one… Necrozma.

The failure of Project Mewtwo was directly linked to that Pokémon.

Giovanni hadn't initially connected Necrozma to Haru. It wasn't until Haru's public battle against Blue that he realized the truth.

Subsequent research, combined with reports from Alola, confirmed his worst fears: the creature known as Necrozma had never once revealed its full strength to the public.

Meaning that its true form might be far more powerful than anyone could imagine.

If just its incomplete state was that devastating, what would happen if it ever became whole again?

Giovanni didn't know whether Haru could unleash Necrozma's true potential—but the mere possibility was terrifying enough.

And with Mewtwo's rebellion following the project's failure, Haru had gained yet another first-tier Legendary on his side.

At this point, Haru was practically a walking pantheon of Legendary Pokémon.

No one could confirm whether he had officially captured Mewtwo, but the fact that they coexisted peacefully was undeniable.

To Team Rocket, Haru was a target that had to be eliminated.

Their hatred ran deep—and their greed even deeper. The Legendary Pokémon under his control were prizes too tempting to ignore.

If they could somehow seize those Pokémon for themselves, the scale of Team Rocket's power would be unimaginable.

Still, wanting Haru dead didn't mean they would rush in blindly.

For months, Giovanni had been orchestrating a new operation behind the scenes—a grand plan to end Haru once and for all.

Once it was complete, even Haru wouldn't be able to withstand their onslaught.

They already had countless aces waiting in the shadows—

the twin dragons of Unova, the sea-soaring Lugia, the fiery reborn cameraman Ho-Oh,

and even the so-called Strongest Pokémon in Galar, the embodiment of infinity itself—Eternatus.

With so many trump cards to play, Team Rocket's ambitions were far from over.

Each of those Legendary Pokémon possessed power so vast it could only be described as calamity itself.

If Team Rocket could somehow bring them all under their control, they wouldn't just become powerful—they would become invincible, evolving into the fabled Rainbow Rocket of Giovanni's dreams.

But before any of those grand schemes could take shape, their legendary-hunting squads suddenly encountered the last person they ever wanted to meet—Haru himself.

And at this point in time, they were completely unprepared for a head-on confrontation.

Wait… what did he just say?

Did he just announce he was going to Mega Evolve Mewtwo?!

That couldn't be real. That could not be real!

Mewtwo was their creation—Team Rocket's masterpiece! Even they didn't know Mewtwo possessed the potential for Mega Evolution.

So how on earth could Haru possibly know that?

Who was the true creator of Mewtwo, then—him or them?

And why did he seem to understand Mewtwo far better than they ever had?

The Rocket grunts around him were left utterly dumbfounded.

But before anyone could process the absurdity of it all, a blinding surge of energy erupted from inside the hotel where Haru stood.

It wasn't just the presence of a Pokémon—no, this was something greater.

It was the overwhelming aura of a god.

A moment later, a figure burst out through the shattered glass—an elegant girl with long, flowing, water-blue hair.

She was beautiful, yes, but her beauty was cold and terrifying, like a glacier given form.

A sleek mask, the kind a phantom thief might wear, concealed part of her face. She hovered high above them, suspended in midair with effortless grace.

And, perhaps mercifully, beneath her sailor-style outfit she wore safety shorts longer than her skirt—because even divinity required modesty.

Though she looked human, the pressure rolling off her made it clear—she had transcended humanity.

She was a true Legendary.

"M-Mewtwo…?"

The Rocket agents stared in disbelief, jaws slack.

This—this was the Pokémon they had once engineered in a lab, a humanoid, feline-like weapon…

and now she stood before them as an ethereal girl.

A stunning one, at that.

If she ever joined an idol group, she'd probably break the internet.

"Seriously… is everything that gets close to Haru cursed to turn into a beautiful girl? What kind of bizarre aura does he have—some sort of Spring of Drowned Maiden energy field?!"

Otherwise how could every single mythical and legendary creature around him end up like this?

Normally, she would have immediately attacked anyone from Team Rocket.

But this time, Mewtwo didn't even spare them a glance.

Her piercing gaze was fixed solely on Haru.

Her eyes flickered with a mixture of doubt, hesitation, and something dangerously close to… trust.

"Mega Evolution… are you sure about this?" she asked quietly. "Last time, we failed."

Indeed, when they first obtained the Mega Stones, they had already attempted the process once.

But they failed—because the bond between them wasn't yet strong enough.

Specifically, Mewtwo's side had been lacking.

Mega Evolution demanded more than strength—it required a unity of hearts deeper than she'd realized.

And even now, not many days had passed since that first attempt.

Had her relationship with Haru truly deepened enough since then?

Mewtwo asked herself that question.

The answer she came to… was no.

If anything, it felt like Cynthia had grown far closer to Haru than she had.

Still, if she didn't Mega Evolve now, she knew her current strength wouldn't be enough to face this many Trainers at once.

These weren't opponents one could take lightly.

Much as she hated to admit it, Mewtwo was still far from the level of Necrozma—Haru's "Great Sauce" of destruction who had already mastered the power of the light.

At best, she was still "Little Sauce"—a Mew-chan trying to prove herself.

But Haru merely laughed, that usual mischievous smile tugging at his lips.

He looked at her cold, determined face and said softly, almost teasingly:

"That's up to you, isn't it?"

"If you truly desire power, then reach out and take it. You should already know how."

"The power of Mega Evolution is right in front of you. All you have to do is entrust your whole heart—your entire being—to me. Then, and only then, will it answer your call."

"If you can't do that, then none of this means anything."

"This is the moment that tests your love for me, Mewtwo."

"I'm not like you. If my life permits love, then I will love without hesitation."

"So—show me. Prove yourself to me."

Cynthia, standing to the side, froze mid-thought, one hand on her chin in what could only be described as a "delusional goblin" pose.

"Okay, hold on," she muttered under her breath. "I mean, that… kind of makes sense, but also kind of doesn't?"

What did he mean by 'entrust your entire being to me'? That sounded like something out of a romance drama! And why did he have to throw in the word love—it made the whole scene weirdly heavy.

Were these two—father and daughter, supposedly—always this awkward? Couldn't they just… communicate like normal people?

Of course, she didn't actually say any of that aloud.

Mewtwo floated there, silent for a moment. Then she glanced at Haru—

and at Latias, shimmering faintly nearby in invisible form.

Her hesitation melted away.

Yes. She did want power.

That much was undeniable.

Even if it meant letting Haru completely overwhelm her, she would endure it.

Even if she had to love him to do so—so be it.

"The weak me of yesterday is gone," she declared, her voice ringing with conviction. "Father… let us become one!"

The Keystone in Haru's hand and the Mega Stone within Mewtwo began to resonate.

Their bond, their shared intent, pulsed with light—

and then that light exploded.

A torrent of energy enveloped her completely, transforming Mewtwo into pure radiance.

She could feel it—she was changing, evolving—

but… something was still missing.

The light began to waver.

Her strength faltered.

The problem wasn't the stone's energy—

it was the bond.

Their hearts were still not in perfect sync.

Mewtwo had yet to open herself fully to Haru.

Her "love" hadn't yet reached the level of transcendence required for a true Mega Evolution.

Haru sensed it immediately.

But instead of giving up, he shouted to her:

"What are you hesitating for?!"

"After everything, do you still not understand me?!"

"I know you've been keeping a little notebook, writing down all the 'lessons' you've learned from me, haven't you? Don't think I don't know what's in it!"

"So what's the point in pretending now?"

He raised his voice, echoing through the air.

"Come on—stop holding back!"

Cynthia couldn't help but mutter under her breath again, "What a spectacle… good thing she's not my Pokémon, or I'd die of secondhand embarrassment."

And yet, maybe it was just her—or maybe Gardevoir's intuition kicking in—but both she and the others could swear they caught a faint trace of mockery in Haru's tone.

Meanwhile, Mewtwo froze. Her pupils shrank.

Wait—what?!

He knows about the notebook?!

Her mind went blank. Panic shot through her.

What was she supposed to do now?!

That notebook… she had never intended for anyone else to see it.

Letting Cynthia read it had already been crossing the line.

But letting Haru see it? Absolutely, positively not!

Just imagining him flipping through it made her feel naked—like she was standing in front of him, utterly exposed, while he calmly studied her every thought. Her entire body prickled with mortified goosebumps.

"And besides," Haru continued with infuriating calm, "you don't actually hate me as much as you pretend to, do you?"

"Don't think I haven't noticed—you've been watching me, haven't you?"

"?!"

Her face turned crimson.

Without thinking, Mewtwo lunged at him, abandoning the Mega Evolution process entirely.

"Shut up! Shut up right now!" she screamed, flying straight at him—

—but before she could reach him, she slammed into an invisible psychic barrier.

It was a familiar energy—similar to her own.

And then, a silvery, bell-like laugh rang in her ears.

"Naughty, naughty~ You can't attack your dear Papa like that."

Mew had appeared, coiling around Haru's neck like a fluffy pink scarf, tail swaying playfully.

"If you want affection, let Mommy handle that instead, meow~" she teased, flicking her tail upward as if to lift Mewtwo's chin.

"You're not qualified to punish Daddy. No no no~"

"Now, if we reversed the roles and let Daddy punish you, that would be different! He's very experienced in that area, you know~"

Red with embarrassment and fury, Mewtwo smacked Mew's tail away, refusing to play along.

But before she could try silencing Haru again, he spoke once more—this time, his tone deceptively casual:

"Oh, and one more thing. Last night—you were standing by my bed with a camera, weren't you? Recording me?"

Her body went rigid.

"Don't pretend. I saw you. So just admit it—

I'm the most important person in your world."

"All that coldness, all that hostility—it's an act. You care about me more than any other Pokémon ever could."

"In fact… maybe a little too much. Otherwise, how else do you explain that notebook?"

"You keep denying it, hiding behind your pride…"

"But how can you hope to complete a true Mega Evolution if you won't even be honest with yourself?"

"Mewtwo, oh Mewtwo—self-deception doesn't suit you."

"..."

Mewtwo—no, Mew No. 2—was speechless.

Of course she understood what he meant. And yes, deep down, she knew he was right.

But admitting that truth aloud… was a step too far.

People can act on their feelings, but saying them out loud? That's another matter entirely.

Especially for someone like her—

the ultimate tsundere.

"So?" Haru pressed, voice cutting through the tension. "Why aren't you saying anything?"

"Or are you just like those guys online who brag about all the women they've 'had,' only for their hands to shake the moment they actually meet one in person?"

"No way, no way—my daughter isn't seriously chickening out like this, is she? You mean to tell me you can't even express your love for your own father? Pathetic. Absolutely useless."

"Such a weakling! You don't even know how to fight for affection—what a disappointment. Looks like you didn't inherit any of my superior genes at all. At this rate, you don't even deserve the name Mewtwo!"

Seeing Haru completely abandon all restraint and start roasting her alive, the Mew coiled around his shoulders quickly joined in too.

Unlike Haru, who said it to provoke her on purpose, Mew was doing it purely for fun.

After all, teasing Mewtwo was the second most entertaining thing in the world for Mew.

The first, of course, was playing all sorts of "games" with Haru.

Even a saint's patience has limits—and a Pokémon's, even more so.

Under the dual assault of Haru and Mew, the chaotic husband-and-wife combo, even a Torterra would've lost its temper by now—

and Mewtwo, whose personality was already notoriously explosive, was no exception.

Her fingers clenched around the Mega Stone so tightly it might've shattered, and her entire face flushed bright red with rage.

"Why… why are you pushing me like this?!"

"Damn you!"

"Listen up, you jerk of a dad! My love—my love is twice as strong as yours!"

"So don't you dare underestimate me, you bastard!"

All Mewtwo could feel now was anger.

Anger, humiliation, and the unbearable embarrassment of having her secret thoughts dragged into the open.

Right now, the thing she wanted most was to blast both of these idiots straight into orbit—

and then, right in front of that smug pink troublemaker, she'd pin Haru down and make him regret every last word!

If Mew liked using Haru to provoke her so much, then fine—she'd make sure Mew "enjoyed" the show to her heart's content!

But beneath the fury, a small part of Haru's words had struck home.

She understood, deep down, that if she truly wanted to grow stronger—

she would have to accept certain things.

Did she really feel nothing for Haru as her father?

Of course not.

The bond of blood could never be severed so easily.

And the moment that thought flickered across her mind—

—a miracle happened.

The fading light of the Mega Stone suddenly reignited, brighter than ever before.

So blinding that even the nearby Rocket agents squinting from the sidelines felt their eyes sting.

Power.

It was overwhelmingly powerful.

So this was the might of a true Legendary!

The sheer psychic pressure pressed down on everything around her, shaking the air itself.

Cynthia, watching from the distance, could only sigh inwardly.

"Good grief… this father and daughter are way too dramatic. Is this really what a first-rank god and her Trainer look like?"

Back on the battlefield—

Mewtwo's Mega Evolution continued to unfold.

Meanwhile, the Team Rocket members had gone from confusion to full-on panic.

They weren't idiots—no self-respecting villains would just stand around watching someone else power up.

While Haru and Mewtwo were arguing, they'd already tried to take advantage of the distraction.

Some attempted to attack.

Others tried to flee.

But whether they struck or ran, every one of them slammed headfirst into an invisible barrier.

They didn't need to ask what it was.

There was only one explanation—another Legendary was protecting Haru.

According to the intel Giovanni had provided, Haru was accompanied by two first-rank Legendaries, and that one of them—Necrozma—was especially terrifying.

If they continued to attack, they might eventually break through the barrier.

But considering Mewtwo was currently in the middle of an emotional shouting match with her Trainer, barging in right now felt… unwise.

Because if they interrupted now and accidentally made them reconcile through a shared enemy…

—then those two would probably unite, shout something about "the power of bonds and friendship," and wipe the floor with them.

And nobody wanted to be that kind of cannon-fodder.

So they stood frozen, caught between fear and indecision—

only to witness, to their horror, the impossible happen.

Even without their interference, Haru and Mewtwo had completed the mysterious process of Mega Evolution.

When the radiance finally faded, the extraordinary Pokémon before them revealed her new form.

Compared to her original self, this Mewtwo had become smaller and more delicate.

Her body's lines were smoother, her posture more graceful, her overall silhouette more feminine.

Behind her head now trailed a long, flowing lock of soft pink hair.

And from a purely psychic standpoint—

her power had multiplied manyfold.

But it seemed Mewtwo could no longer tolerate remaining in a full Pokémon form.

After flexing her new limbs experimentally, she immediately shifted into a humanoid shape again—

almost identical to before, except this time she held a small, sleek electric piano in her hands, as if it were her divine instrument.

Haru looked her up and down thoughtfully.

"…So it really is Mega Mewtwo Y, huh?"

He tapped his chin, thinking aloud.

"Hmm… maybe I should recruit a Tapu Lele to go with her. Or Tapu Fini, if worst comes to worst."

No doubt about it—this was Mega Mewtwo Y.

Unlike a certain other Mega Evolution, Mega Mewtwo was pure Psychic-type—

but her "specs" were vastly upgraded, like upgrading your graphics card by an entire generation.

How much stronger exactly?

Well, let's just say… easily more than a 15% performance boost.

Mega Mewtwo Y also possessed the Insomnia ability, which kept her from ever being put to sleep—

though she still relied on others to help her set up Psychic Terrain.

Even so, her power now was nothing short of divine.

"M-Mega Evolution?!" one of the Rocket grunts shouted in disbelief.

"It's really Mega Evolution! He wasn't bluffing!"

"We're doomed—abandon ship! ABANDON SHIP!"
