The Green Goblin and the AI Green Goblin were indeed arguing, even fighting. This was because when the AI Green Goblin entered Norman Osborn's brain to evade deletion by Ultron, its goal was identical to the true Green Goblin: seize Norman's body and then, while pretending to be Norman, announce that it had eliminated the Green Goblin.
However, it was simply impossible for two Green Goblin personalities to share one body.
Therefore, only one of them could survive in the end.
So, the first step of Norman's plan was to ensure these two Green Goblin consciousnesses fought each other while he and Harry hid on the sidelines. But the two Goblins weren't fools; though they were sworn enemies, to occupy Norman's body, they first needed to eliminate Norman's consciousness.
Thus, Norman created a reason for them to act.
All the surrounding houses collapsed, and the entire world seemed to sink into deep darkness. The AI Green Goblin couldn't yet figure out what was happening, but the true Green Goblin already understood the problem. He looked at Norman, and then at the massive, terrifying Orc that had stood up.
"What is that?"
The AI Green Goblin asked in surprise. It had only scanned the Green Goblin's brainwaves and possessed similar thought circuits, but it lacked the Green Goblin's personal memories. It was therefore astonished by this behemoth, which appeared to be over five meters tall.
The Green Goblin, of course, knew exactly what it was.
"Our damn father!"
It was born from Norman Osborn's most profound and distorted childhood memory of his terrible father, whom he perceived as a pure monster, now materialized within his consciousness. Normally, Norman would certainly not use this move.
After all, his goal was to end the Green Goblin's existence, which theoretically only required stopping a normal father, not conjuring this kind of monster. This monster was, without a doubt, a tool to deal with both the Green Goblin and the AI Green Goblin.
The towering Orc picked up a thick iron rod and smashed it toward the two Green Goblins.
"When I was little, that's how my father beat me. As long as I didn't invent something newsworthy to earn him liquor money, he'd take the iron rod from the house and beat me with it." Norman pulled Harry and Emily to hide behind a distant rock. Harry looked astonished. "I've never heard of this. I only knew Grandpa died very young."
"Yes, I never even told your mother. Why would I talk about my own humiliating past?"
Norman sighed helplessly, then thought for a moment and continued, "So, I killed him."
Harry: ???
"I invented the first Pumpkin Bomb and fooled myself into believing that a non-existent Green Goblin did it. I threw the bomb into my father's room, then went in and fabricated the scene to look like he accidentally touched my invention." Norman fell silent for a moment, sighing in resignation. "Then, I saw the horrifying state of the corpse, and forced myself to forget everything. And the Green Goblin is the Norman Osborn who remembers all of it."
Norman sensed something, looked at his wife's hand resting on his back, then nodded and looked at his silent son.
"Well, are you ready, Harry? We might have to take some risks."
"I'm ready."
On the other side, both Green Goblins were throwing Pumpkin Bombs to blast Norman Osborn's terrifying father, but no matter what they did, the result was minimal. This was Norman's deepest fear, and the AI Green Goblin, at least, was helpless against it.
It was waiting for the Green Goblin, who had much insight into the matter, to make a move. The Green Goblin expressed his displeasure but also had his own plan.
How do you thoroughly defeat or even eliminate another consciousness within a person's mind?
The answer: make the other party's existence unnecessary, thoroughly suppressing and merging with them.
So, the Green Goblin smiled, using Pumpkin Bombs to blow off the giant's legs. As the personality that remembered how to kill his own father, this terrible monster posed no threat to him.
The AI Green Goblin, unaware of this, prepared to deliver the final blow.
If the person who killed the father here was the AI Green Goblin and not the Green Goblin, then the true Green Goblin would have no reason to exist!
Pumpkin Bombs violently bombarded the father's body. The AI Green Goblin laughed maniacally, but then he realized something was wrong.
He felt something... strange?
"You fool, this is Norman Osborn's brain. Do you think he can distinguish, or even wants to distinguish, who is the AI and who is real? In his eyes, the one who killed his scumbag father is simply the Green Goblin, nothing more."
The Green Goblin laughed and kicked the AI version of himself down. "What an ignorant fellow. A copy is a copy after all. Next, all I have to do is prove that Norman doesn't need to exist..."
A Pumpkin Bomb was thrown with full force. The Green Goblin easily dodged it, but then heard a crisp sound. Harry, standing not far behind him, swung a baseball bat fiercely at the incoming Pumpkin Bomb, sending it smashing into the Green Goblin.
The Green Goblin was instantly blown off his feet, covered in blood.
This wasn't right?
Leaving aside why a mental body could be blasted until blood was flowing, how could Norman harm him?
"That's the spirit, Harry!"
Norman smiled, looking at Harry and the Green Goblin blocking their path. Without anyone noticing, Norman had changed into a baseball uniform and was wearing a glove, throwing a Pumpkin Bomb toward the Green Goblin.
The Green Goblin quickly dodged the bomb, and then dodged Harry's return hit. But the moment Norman caught the non-exploding Pumpkin Bomb with his glove, the Green Goblin was still harmed.
He heard the sound of Emily applauding nearby.
"That's right, Harry. Let's tell the Green Goblin that we don't need him, never have and never will."
Norman threw another Pumpkin Bomb, blasting the Green Goblin down. "Once I understood how to deal with you, everything became simple, Green Goblin!"
"It's by telling you that we don't need you!"
In the Osborn Industries lab, after the AI Green Goblin was eliminated, all the Avengers were gathered, looking at Norman Osborn lying in the experimental pod.
Suddenly, the pod door opened, and Norman stepped out. Harry, who had already woken up, rushed to support his father.
Norman looked at the crowd of superheroes, smiled, and announced the good news to everyone.
"My apologies, everyone. I caused a lot of trouble, and Osborn Industries suffered very serious losses. But there is one thing I can confirm right now."
"The Green Goblin is no longer a threat!"
