By the time Peter and Strange delivered the Juggernaut, the Avengers had nearly finished off the U.S. Avengers. Although they couldn't end the battle in a short amount of time, they had at least managed to suppress the opposition.
The first to be dealt with was Jack of Hearts. He hadn't wanted to fight the Avengers in the first place and was merely being controlled by his containment suit. Once Carol damaged the suit to the point of near-ruin, he more or less returned to normal. However, since the suit was originally meant to suppress his internal energy, Jack of Hearts was now "leaking" power quite significantly.
Fortunately, Carol's ability involved energy absorption, so that side of things was temporarily settled.
Then there were Zzzax and the Hulk. Facing a mass of living electricity that was roughly the same size as himself and capable of invisibility, the Hulk was initially at a bit of a loss. However, that didn't mean Bruce Banner was out of ideas. When Peter arrived, this massive cluster of electricity was being held underwater and pummeled by the Hulk. He was literally being discharged.
Next was Ares. Just as Thor had said, the God of War does not preside over victory, only war. Moreover, the status of the two within their respective mythologies was completely unequal. Thor was the most powerful primary god in the Norse pantheon besides Odin, while Ares... whether Ares could even make the top five was a question.
Consequently, shortly after the battle began, he fell into a disadvantage. Of course, it was only a disadvantage; much like others on the battlefield, such as Black Panther and Black Eagle, a clear winner could not be determined yet.
However, the opponent the Captain had to deal with was truly troublesome. The Super-Adaptoid manifested a shield in its left hand and a hammer in its right. Its body was as massive as the Hulk's, and it wore iron armor. As it stomped toward its opponent, the sight was terrifying.
Missile launchers rose from its shoulders, firing continuously at the Captain, who could only dodge repeatedly within the narrow confines of the arena. This lasted until the Sling Ring opened a portal and the Juggernaut braced himself, slamming into the Super-Adaptoid with immense force.
The Super-Adaptoid was sent flying by the impact but quickly scrambled up and locked onto its target. The Juggernaut looked around in confusion. He saw the Avengers and the U.S. Avengers and initially thought this was the next part of Spider-Man and the Sorcerer Supreme's plan—to find all their allies to gang up on him.
Just a group fight; was the Juggernaut supposed to be afraid?
But unexpectedly, no one else came to bother him. Only the Super-Adaptoid's form began to shift, taking on a shape similar to the Juggernaut's. Adopting the Hulk's fighting style, it delivered a powerful smash in front of the Juggernaut. The Juggernaut intercepted it with a punch, and the two began trading blows.
The Super-Adaptoid's right hand, which had turned into a hammer, slammed hard against the Juggernaut's face, while the shield in its left hand blocked the Juggernaut's counterattack.
"I remember this guy being pretty useless when we dealt with the Symbiotes," Peter scratched his head. "Did it modify its base materials? It looks a bit like..."
Like the liquid metal that made up Molten Man?
Peter froze for a moment, then looked closely at the Super-Adaptoid. At this moment, the Super-Adaptoid had entered a direct contest of strength with the Juggernaut. Neither moved from their spot; they simply traded savage punches.
As the battle continued, the surroundings began to shake violently. Deep, bottomless fissures appeared in the ground beneath their feet, and the cracks continued to expand and extend. Seeing this, the Captain immediately shouted.
"We can't let this continue! Spider-Man, you guys have to move them! Use magic or something..."
Strange sighed helplessly. "This plan of yours is terrible, Spider-Man."
"Uh, what's wrong?"
"That robot is unlikely to be a match for the Juggernaut. And the fact that he ran here means Cyttorak has already noticed this battle. It's unlikely we can separate Cyttorak's gem from the Juggernaut now."
"Uh, unless you had another way back then, otherwise..."
"Of course I didn't have another way, or I wouldn't have opened the portal. Damn it, I must have forgotten to consult the omens before leaving the house today, otherwise, why is my luck so bad?"
Strange sighed in resignation. This time, he didn't use the Mirror Dimension because the Juggernaut had already proven he had the ability to shatter it directly. He didn't use the Sling Ring either, because using one in the middle of their fight could cause unstable factors.
So, he simply chose another method.
Chanting an incantation that was clearly abnormal, countless dark auras emerged around Strange. This spell required sufficient time to cast and, generally speaking, would be impossible to perform smoothly in combat. But since it was a matter of dealing with two troublesome fellows at once, he could naturally take advantage of them fighting each other to complete the spell.
As dark energy gathered beneath the two combatants, the Juggernaut seemed to realize something was wrong and tried to leave. However, the Super-Adaptoid had no ability to adapt to magic and didn't know what this was, so it landed another punch on the Juggernaut's face to keep him pinned.
With a pillar of black light that shot into the sky, both of the troublesome brawlers disappeared. Thor took the opportunity to ambush Ares, knocking him unconscious before dragging him over. He then frowned as he questioned Strange.
"What did you do, Sorcerer Supreme? I can sense a very powerful, evil energy."
"Uh, yes, exactly. That was a spell used for sacrificing lives to Dormammu—a massive and complex ritual. So, I sent them to Dormammu," Strange said, feeling unprecedentedly weak after finishing the ritual. "As for what Dormammu plans to do, I'm not entirely sure. Regardless, Cyttorak will definitely come looking for him."
The Dark Dimension.
Among the countless extra-dimensions, the Dark Dimension was a rather unique existence. In the ancient past, all dimensions with similar characteristics formed a larger Dark Dimension. After it was shattered in an unknown conflict, many fragments were produced.
The largest of those fragments was the current Dark Dimension—these dimensions all stood independent of the multiverse itself, transcending its existence.
Dormammu, the ruler of the Dark Dimension, was currently receiving a guest.
"As I was saying, although I have been exiled, I am still the Lord of Limbo. If you would be willing to lend me an army of Mindless Ones..."
Belasco smiled ingratiatingly. Before he could finish his sentence, he saw a burst of light flare up. Then, a person carrying the aura of Cyttorak, the Crimson Lord, and a robot were delivered there.
Belasco's fawning smile froze.
"I just remembered, I have an appointment with Mephisto..."
"Don't leave yet. I agree to that army of Mindless Ones," Dormammu suddenly spoke. "On the condition that you do something for me: you are a dimensional demon-god yourself, more or less. Go, help me explain things to Cyttorak."
