Chapter 474 - Chapter 474: This Life is Toxic

Peter couldn't tell which universe he was in for the moment, but he could gather from the surrounding atmosphere that it wasn't a very friendly one. Moreover, ever since he landed, his Spider-Sense had been ringing non-stop. After a long period of silence, Morlun suddenly took off running instead of choosing to travel to the next universe.

Peter froze for a second, then realized the man was looking for this universe's Spider-Totem and quickly gave chase. But Morlun was incredibly fast, and Peter was on the verge of losing him. Fortunately, a few minutes later, Morlun let out a blood-curdling scream. When Peter caught up, he saw a snarling Ogre Spider-Man—his mouth still stained with bits of raw meat, though not quite as horrifying as the Zombie Spider-Man. He bit down hard on Morlun's shoulder, tearing away another chunk of flesh.

However, Morlun had already succeeded. He opened his gaping maw and completely absorbed all the life force of the Ogre Spider-Man. Feeling his vitality fully restored, he let out a long sigh of satisfaction as the wounds on his body began to heal rapidly.

"Morlun, you bastard, just how much life force from Spider-Totems have you absorbed to heal your injuries?!"

"Do you remember how many slices of bread you've eaten?"

Morlun burst into a manic laugh. "You're next! Spider-Man!"

Peter fell silent, seemingly giving up all resistance. Morlun hesitated, sensing something was wrong. He felt a massive shadow looming over him. Looking up, he saw an Ogre Hulk wearing a necklace made of clean-picked skulls and a Wolverine claw hanging from his neck.

In the next second, Morlun, who refused to be eaten by the Ogre Hulk, was sent flying by a single slap. However, he wasn't surprised at all. The Ogre Hulk's strike had instantly created a massive distance between him and Peter. No matter how powerful the Patriarch was, he wouldn't be able to catch him now!

This was his escape route!

Then, he noticed the webbing stuck to his feet. Peter went flying into the air with him. Following him up, Peter threw a punch. Morlun, nearly hit by another Dimensional Slash, pivoted in mid-air and retaliated with a kick that sent Peter crashing down before he quickly landed.

"Did you really think I wasn't your match?"

By the time Peter could stand back up, Morlun had reached him with ghost-like speed and posture. He grabbed Peter by the throat and hoisted him up. "I am fully healed now. You are no match for me. Your life is mine, Patriarch!"

Morlun opened his mouth wide.

But he absorbed nothing.

Morlun was stunned. He was certain that the Spider-Man before him was a Spider-Totem brimming with vitality, yet he couldn't absorb any life force from him?

"Surprising, isn't it? Well, here's something even more surprising!"

Venom instantly condensed into a sharp blade and pierced Morlun's body. Before Morlun could react, he was cleaved vertically in two. To be fair, the stats of the Inheritors were indeed higher than most Spider-Men, and they possessed a special advantage against Spider-Totems.

Fortunately, I'm the more skilled one.

Peter waited a while in the Ogre Universe for Miguel to arrive, then waved him over. "Let's get out of here. This dump is full of ogres and psychopaths; there are no Spider-Totems here that need our help."

Miguel, the Spider-Man 2099, glanced at Morlun's body lying in two pieces on the ground.

"Is he dead?"

"Obviously not. In fact, he'll be catching up to us again very soon."

The two talked as they returned to the Noir Spider-Man's universe. Soon, they began to gather their forces. In addition to Miguel and Peter, Gwen Stacy from Earth-65 and the blond Peter from Earth-700 had also arrived.

"All the Spider-Men who have taken safety precautions are here. We've gathered here as you requested." Miguel looked at the assembled Spider-Men and turned to Peter with a question. "Are you sure Morlun will come?"

"Actually, it's not a matter of 'if'..."

Peter, sensing the vibrations in the Web of Destiny, looked toward a nearby road. "He's already here."

In the next moment, Morlun appeared on the street holding dog leashes. He was leading his own hounds—though they weren't actual dogs, but the leftover Spider-Man villains from the worlds where he had devoured the Spider-Men.

Scorpion, Lizard, Rhino... Morlun immediately unleashed these "hounds."

"Kill them, my hounds!"

As for Morlun himself, he quickly sought out Peter. That recent "death" had only intensified his interest in the Patriarch. He realized immediately that his opponent was using a symbiote to prevent being drained by an Inheritor's leeching nature. A very clever move.

A unique Totem, and such a smart one at that. This prey is destined to be mine!

Morlun effortlessly blocked a punch from Peter, then swung him around and sent him tumbling away. Peter slammed into the ground in a daze but immediately used his webbing to snag Morlun's arm, trying to pull him back.

Morlun pulled back with force. After a brief tug-of-war, Morlun yanked Peter toward him and sent him flying once more with a punch. However, his arm suddenly flared with agonizing pain.

His entire palm had just been sliced off by the Spider-Man!

Fortunately, Morlun had come prepared. After injecting himself with a specific serum, his arm instantly regenerated. However, the loss of life force could not be replenished through self-healing alone. He looked toward the other Spider-Men fighting the hounds and laughed heartily.

This Patriarch had actually lost his mind, bringing so many Spider-Totems here for him to devour!

In a flash, he appeared behind Miguel. He grabbed the back of the neck of this robust-looking Spider-Man and opened his mouth wide. This guy didn't have the protection of a symbiote; he was nothing more than a meal on a plate.

Morlun felt a massive surge of life energy—the intense power of a Spider-Totem, but also something mysterious...

Contamination?!

In an instant, scorching green marks appeared on Morlun's pale face. He wailed in agony, looking at Miguel in disbelief. "You... you actually poisoned your own life energy?!"

"It's not poison. Just some nuclear radiation that can be cleared with the right equipment. You need pure Spider-Totems to feed, right?"

Miguel kicked Scorpion away and turned around, his hands transforming into sharp talons. "I'm sorry, but we don't have anything like that here."

"How do you like 'junk food,' you piece of trash?"
