Chapter 558 - Chapter 558: Avengers! Assemble!

Magneto brought his pair of children and a contingent of Genoshan mutants. This mutant army had originally been prepared for Kang's expedition, but now, they were prepared to defeat him. The arrival of these mutants greatly improved the situation on the battlefield, liberating the superheroes who had been locked in combat with the Scarab robots.

Naturally, Kang was beyond furious. He unleashed a barrage of light beams toward Magneto, but once again, the result was unexpected. Magneto remained completely unharmed; he hadn't even used his powers to generate a defensive force field.

What was going on now?

The eagle-eyed Kang used his armor to run an analysis and quickly reached a conclusion: there was something wrong with Magneto's suit. Tiny nanomachines were covering his body, coating his armor in a thin film that prevented the Cosmic Cube's energy from penetrating. As for the raw material of those nanomachines...

"Vibranium?"

"I lent Vibranium to the New Fantastic Four for research, Kang. The nanomachines of the Baxter Building, combined with the energy-absorption resistance of Vibranium, can create a coating capable of neutralizing the Cosmic Cube's energy."

Black Panther, arriving on the scene via Quinjet, delivered the final verbal blow. Simultaneously, the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier appeared, launching an assault on Kang's flagship as it attempted to repair itself in the sky. Kang gnashed his teeth as he watched everyone betray him, letting out a roar of rage.

"Do you really think you are invincible? I can rewrite the entire universe into whatever shape I desire right now—"

"That is no longer possible, Kang. This farce ends now."

The voice that spoke was unfamiliar to most people present. A man wearing a black skintight suit was brought to the scene by Nightcrawler. He wore a specialized portable Cerebro unit on his head, and a blue 'X' symbol hovered before him.

In his hand, he held a blue cube.

"Charles Xavier... your resurrection was a mistake. Do you think you can do anything holding Zemo's toy?" Kang roared, throwing a punch toward the Professor. A blue beam was about to strike him, but the Professor, having regained his mobility, let a smile tug at the corner of his mouth. Suddenly, the chest of Kang's armor erupted with powerful energy. He looked on in disbelief as the power of the Cosmic Cube began to tear him apart from within. Then, the shell in the Professor's hand burst with a blinding radiance.

"This is not a toy, Kang. It is a key to communicate with our friend."

The shell in the Professor's hand floated upward and began to morph into a blurred humanoid figure. Kang remembered now—he had seen this person before. No, it was this very person who had inspired him, leading him to use the Cosmic Cube's power to investigate the truth behind the Multiversal Incursion crisis.

The living Cosmic Cube, Korvac.

"I..."

The newly born Korvac did not yet understand many things. The Professor had linked the memories and thoughts of many people to him, catalyzing his emergence. He looked around and then slightly raised his hand.

In an instant, all of New York was restored to its original state. With a mere gesture, the Indian subcontinent—destroyed by Kang before being handed over to Mr. Sinister—was restored to exactly how it had been.

Captain America, who had been fighting the Scarab robots, looked down at his hands, finding himself restored to his World War II-era prime. He clenched his fist and looked toward the center of the battlefield. Before Kang could say another word, Tony fired a repulsor blast from his arc reactor, slamming into Kang and landing beside the Captain with the others.

Peter appeared at Kang's side at the perfect moment, attempting to slice open Kang's chest by tearing through space. However, Kang, possessing the Time Stone, reacted instantly to prevent Peter from hitting the Cosmic Cube in his chest.

"Spider-Man! If it weren't for you..."

"If it weren't for me, you'd still be playing the clown in this circus for another few months. Want to thank me for helping you get laid off?"

Kang suppressed Korvac's backlash and glared at the massive crowd before him. Under Korvac's protection, he could no longer use reality manipulation to erase these people.

However, he still possessed unparalleled power. Even if he had to do it one by one, he had enough strength to crush every single one of their heads.

"I will put you all—"

Once again, before Kang could finish his sentence, he was attacked. A massive red beam of light descended from the sky, bombarding Kang. Peter looked up at the sky and sighed, "I have a feeling that won't be the last time."

Clouds then gathered in the sky, crackling with thunder and lightning. Thor looked up in surprise; this wasn't lightning he had summoned.

The X-Men, who had been sent to Ancient Egypt, had waited for Apocalypse to defeat the Pharaoh Rama-Tut. They then used the Pharaoh's machinery to return to the modern era. Cyclops unceremoniously gave Kang an energy bath, while Illyana teleported the X-Men back to New York. Cyclops didn't even have time to talk trash to Kang before he saw the Professor standing on the battlefield, fully mobile.

"Professor?!"

"You did well, Scott. It proves that even in my absence, you can carry on the cause of mutantkind."

Feeling ignored, Kang stood up in a rage. Peter, whose Spider-Sense foresaw the next scene, sighed helplessly: "See? I told you it wasn't the last time."

Another temporal portal opened, and countless superheroes descended from the sky. Not only were there the Fantastic Four and Deadpool, who had traveled to the 31st century, but also many heroes they knew—some of whom were even standing right there.

It was these heroes who launched the assault on Kang.

"We discovered in the 31st century that Kang was cloning the heroes of our era to fight for him. But the cloning technology had... defects. These heroes possess our memories; they believe they are us," Reed explained to everyone as he landed. "So the moment they woke up, they attacked Kang. I freed them and had a little chat. Even knowing they are clones, they chose to help us."

"Well then, everyone is here, Captain."

Peter looked at Captain America. "Cap? I've been looking forward to this for a long time."

"Oh! Is he going to say the line?!" Deadpool, who hadn't worn his mask since his face turned into Ryan Reynolds, trotted up behind the Captain, stomping his feet in excitement. "Don't say 'Flame On,' don't say 'Flame On,' don't say 'Flame On'..."

"Avengers!"

The Captain raised his shield. Tony, standing beside him, whispered a small reminder.

"You know there aren't just Avengers here, right? Besides the X-Men and the Fantastic Four, we've even got Magneto and Doom."

The Captain gave Tony a brief look before immediately returning to a look of grim determination, facing the lone Kang, who still controlled a massive amount of power.

Though he was still powerful, he was no longer invincible.

"Assemble!"
