Chapter 5 - Ch 5: A Magical Chest

Other than the books about secret arts, the other books present in the book shelf were related to knights and nobles.

Some of the books were about the history of this and other neighbouring kingdoms, some were about medicines needed for a knight's training and a few other books were about war tactics and territory management.

Those books were nowhere near as valuable as the books about the secret arts but Weiss found another very valuable books among the other books.

This book was about a special technique called "Force Eruption". This technique was the exact one that the baron had used to pierce her hand during their fight.

That wound had already closed as it was not a very deep wound and she had a very high self healing power as a knight.

But that sudden boost in strength and agility that her father had gotten was definitely very hard to deal with. If it was an stronger knight using this technique, Weiss was sure that it would have been even more dangerous.

That was the first time when Weiss had seen a special technique in action. She had never seen her father practicing it.

Weiss was very impressed by how useful it was. So she decided to learn more techniques like this and she also wanted to create one on her own.

It would be a time consuming and hard task but she decided to out her effort in doing this next.

...

After Weiss was done checking the book shelf, next she went to check the table. On it, she found several documents related to the management of this territory and a diary written by the baron himself.

Weiss was quite interested in the contents of the diary so she immediately started to read it. With her insane reading speed, it did not take her much time to finish reading it.

The diary mostly had contents about various deals that the baron had made with other nobles. As Weiss read more and more of it, she became more and more irritable about how incompetent her "father" actually was.

The baron's own talent as a knight was quite mediocre. His chance of becoming an official knight was actually not very high.

After the death of the sole Knight of a noble family, that family would only have 10 years to find a new knight or their nobility would be taken away.

So after the death of his father who was the only knight of the family at that time, Patrick Souran very badly needed to become a proper Knight quickly or his status as a noble would be gone. But with his own effort, the baron was not confident in making a breakthrough.

That was when the baron had asked the Falgur family for help and had managed to finally become an official knight after buying an expensive medicine from them.

The Souran family were only able to get rid of this debt after paying the Falgur family for 15 years.

That debt was one of the main reason why the Souran territory was currently very poor.

Even if they were nobles, most small marchants would probably have more money than them. It was truly a comedic situation.

Weiss was quite disappointed to see the current state of the territory. She would need to make some large changes to properly develop the territory in the future.

...

After the table, next she moved onto the bed. But even after thoroughly checking it, Weiss was not able to find anything hidden in it. It was just a simple bed. So she finally moved onto the last item present in the room, the metal safe.

The key of the safe was included among the keys that Weiss had taken from her father. So she used that to open the safe without any trouble. It was quite a large safe and the inside of it was filled with many things.

When her father was trying to run away from the castle using the hidden path, he had not managed to gather the valuables from here, so all the items were still present in the safe.

Weiss was already aware of that hidden path, so before starting her massacre, she had already blocked that exit from outside with a large rock. That was why the baron was unable to open the door there at all.

Inside the safe, Weiss found some gold coins but the amount was not much, only 12. Other than the gold coins, there was also a sword which was of a better quality than even the baron's personal sword.

There were also two bottles of medicines which were useful for knight training. This would be of great help to Weiss in her future practice.

There was also a medical formula present in this safe to make these medicines. That was something which Weiss preferred more than finding the ready made medicines.

But the most eye catching thing present in this safe was a beautiful chest made using some kind special wood. Weiss had seen her father writing a few things in his diary about this chest.

According to him, no matter why he did, he was unable to open the chest at all. There were no keyhole on the chest, so there was no key to open it.

He had even tried to use force to open it but even with the strength of an official knight, he had failed to even create a single scratch on this chest.

Weiss was very interested in this chest as it was almost magical. With that in mind, she put her hand on it. And almost immediately, without her doing anything, the chest opened out of nowhere. This turn of event surprised even Weiss whose emotions were normally as cold as permafrost.

This sudden turn of event did made Weiss surprised but soon curiosity replaced that emotion. Even with her intelligence, Weiss did not understand at all how this chest opened. So this unknown made her curious and excited at the same time.

She took the chest out of the safe and put it on the bed. Then she looked inside it and find that it was filled with quite a few things. What came to her eyes almost immediately was a paper which was put on the top of the things present in the chest.

Weiss took out the paper from the chest and started reading it. As Weiss continued reading, even someone as emotionless as her started to show the emotion of bewilderment, excitement and happiness. The contents of the letter was just that astonishing.
