Chapter 315: The Gu Clan's Shock!
Gu Shuo's eyes narrowed as he fixed a sharp gaze on Lin Fan without saying a word.
After a brief silence, he slowly raised a withered hand. In his palm rested a metal token.
"This is the Gu Clan's external ally token. Young Friend Lin Fan, if you can take it from me, then the terms of cooperation will be as you've demanded."
As his words fell, an immense surge of Yuan Power suddenly burst from his body, pressing down toward Lin Fan like a crashing tide.
Everyone in the hall locked their eyes on the young man at the center. But under Gu Shuo's overwhelming pressure, Lin Fan stood as steady as a mountain, unaffected.
"Hehe, Elder Gu Shuo, you'd better hold on tight," Lin Fan said with a light smile as he looked toward the head seat.
As soon as the words left his lips, space around Lin Fan twisted. He stepped forward—piercing through the fabric of space—and appeared before Gu Shuo like a phantom.
He casually extended his right hand and effortlessly grasped the metal token. With a flick of his palm, a formless ripple surged through the token and struck Gu Shuo's body.
Gu Shuo shuddered, feeling an irresistible force surge through him. His grip on the token slackened involuntarily!
The next instant, space twisted again—and Lin Fan's figure reappeared at his original position as if he had never moved.
All of this took place in the blink of an eye.
By the time the others reacted, everything was already over.
The hall fell into a deathly silence.
Everyone was utterly stunned.
Even Elder Gu Shuo couldn't hide the look of shock in his eyes.
"Elder Gu Shuo, beneath your seat—!"
Suddenly, Gu Yuntian's horrified voice echoed through the hall.
Everyone turned toward the source of the commotion—only to see that Gu Shuo's seat had silently crumbled into dust, vanishing without a sound!
Gu Shuo was still seated in his original posture, having not realized it himself.
When he looked down and saw this, a chill surged through his heart.
Both he and Lin Fan were at the Perfect Life Xuan Stage. Yet Lin Fan had managed to do all of this—so effortlessly.
If they had been enemies… wouldn't that moment have been enough for Lin Fan to kill him?
At the thought, cold sweat broke out on Gu Shuo's forehead. He immediately stood upright, shaken to the core.
And if even Gu Shuo reacted like that, the others could only be worse.
At that moment, none of the Gu Clan members in the hall had any doubt about Lin Fan's strength. Instead, their hearts were filled with awe.
"Pleasure doing business." Lin Fan idly spun the token between his fingers, smiling gently as if nothing had happened.
Gu Shuo pushed down the lingering fear in his heart and forced a smile. "Pleasure doing business, indeed. If our Gu Clan wins the championship, two of the three Desolate Tower slots will go to you."
"Perfect," Lin Fan nodded. "I hope the Gu Clan will keep its word. Otherwise…"
He didn't finish his sentence, but everyone understood the unspoken threat. Despite some discomfort, no one dared say a word.
"Young Master Lin Fan may rest assured. The Gu Clan is not one to go back on our word," Gu Shuo said with a smile. "The Martial Meet begins tomorrow. Please rest well tonight."
After what had just happened, Gu Shuo had even started addressing Lin Fan as Young Master.
Lin Fan nodded slightly, gave a cupped-fist salute, and turned to leave.
Lin Dong silently followed.
Only after they departed did the murmuring begin again in the hall, as the Gu Clan members finally found their voices—still shaken by what they had seen.
"This Lin Fan… he's a complete monster! Where did he even come from? Forget the younger generation, even among the elders, few could match him…"
Gu Shuo's gaze was heavy as he muttered to himself, "Aside from the Clan Leader, there's no one else in the Gu Clan who can beat him."
Hiss—!
A collective gasp swept through the room.
They hadn't realized just how powerful Lin Fan was. But now they had a clear benchmark.
After all, the Gu Clan leader was a Death Xuan Stage powerhouse!
Gu Mengqi and Gu Yan exchanged glances.
"You really found a terrifying helper this time," Mengqi whispered.
Gu Yan smiled bitterly, her expression conflicted. She hadn't expected Lin Fan to be this strong either.
"Xiao Yan, be sure to treat Lin Fan well," Gu Shuo said seriously. "Do everything you can to maintain a good relationship with him. Someone like that… at his age… who knows how far he'll go in the future. If we befriend him now, it will only benefit the Gu Clan."
"I understand," Gu Yan nodded softly.
Beside her, Gu Mengqi's beautiful eyes flickered with thought.
…
The next day.
As the warm morning sun bathed the land, Martial Meet Island erupted into activity.
A chaotic blend of voices and noise rose into the sky.
Creak…
The door opened quietly, and Lin Fan stepped out into the courtyard, where Gu Yan, Gu Mengqi, and others were already waiting.
Lin Dong stood nearby, looking a little awkward as usual.
"Brother Lin Fan, it's about time. Shall we go?" Gu Mengqi smiled warmly, her voice gentle.
"And during the meet… we may need to rely on you a little more."
Lin Fan smiled. "Let's work together."
"As long as you and Xiao Yan don't mind me dragging you down," Mengqi chuckled, then turned. "This way, please."
With that, she led the way, her graceful figure moving elegantly ahead.
Lin Fan, Gu Yan, Lin Dong, and the others followed her toward the center of the island.
There stood a majestic mountain—the venue for the Martial Meet.
By the time they arrived, the area around the mountain was already crowded with people.
From time to time, sharp gusts of wind echoed in the sky as powerful figures descended—clearly others who had come for the Martial Meet.
"The official matches haven't begun yet," Gu Mengqi explained as they walked toward the Gu Clan's designated seating area. "At first, there'll be friendly duels among various strong individuals."
"These matches are for the Five Great Clans to scout for potential guards or retainers."
She smiled again. "Since the clans offer generous terms, many cultivators hope to impress and earn a place."
"In a dangerous place like the Chaos Demon Sea, it's good to have protection. Plus, the clans offer cultivation resources."
Lin Fan simply smiled and said nothing in return. He wasn't interested in such arrangements.
Seeing his indifference, Mengqi's eyes dimmed slightly, but she quickly changed the subject.
Eventually, they reached the Gu Clan's section.
Gu Yuntian, still pale, stood to greet Lin Fan with a polite bow and a smile—but just as he was about to speak, his gaze swept across the area and his expression changed.
And not just him—everyone in the Gu Clan's group turned grim at the same moment.
