Chapter 472: Storming Yuan Gate, Face-to-Face with the Gate Masters!
"Are those Dao Sect forces? Why haven't we heard of them before?"
"I heard they were brought back from the outer regions by Lin Fan. They're incredibly powerful!"
"Lin Fan? You mean the one from three years ago—the guy who nearly killed Yuan Zi, the head of Yuan Gate?"
"Heh, who else could it be? They say just three days ago, Nine Heavens Taiqing Palace was under siege by Yuan Gate's Grand Elder Lu Feng. Lin Fan rushed in and wiped out several Reincarnation experts. Even Lu Feng didn't survive!"
"With reinforcements like that, maybe the Anti-Yuan Alliance actually has a chance in this war!"
"…"
As the Dao Sect forces and those from the Demon Region appeared, the atmosphere across the battlefield burst into murmurs and astonishment. All eyes turned toward Lin Fan—his reputation had once again thundered across the Eastern Xuan Region in mere days.
"Everyone here should be familiar with each other by now…"
Ying Xuanzi stood beside Lin Fan in midair, addressing the massive gathering below with a respectful gesture and a few formal words.
After Ying Xuanzi finished, Lin Fan stepped forward and unleashed a bit of his aura—enough to silently warn the scattered factions of his strength.
Then, with one command, they all marched on Yuan Gate!
…
One hundred miles from Yuan Gate.
A mountaintop.
Over a hundred Yuan Gate disciples stood guard at an outpost meant to monitor the surrounding area.
Their sharp eyes swept constantly across the horizon. From time to time, scouts would dart out to check further distances.
"What is that?"
Suddenly, one of them shouted in alarm.
Others raised their eyes—and saw the distant sky glowing with a bright light, from which surged countless silhouettes.
"Enemies incoming! Signal the sect!"
The guards paled. Their eyes widened with fear as one of them fired a crimson flare into the sky.
Whoosh!
The flare burst high in the sky, clearly visible even from a hundred miles away.
But before long, that glowing horizon swept forward—and they finally saw the army bearing down on them.
It was a sea of enraged figures, their eyes burning with hatred. They needed no words.
Whoosh! Whoosh!
Without hesitation, a wave of attacks fell like rain. The entire mountaintop was flattened in a single devastating bombardment.
The vanguard didn't pause. They swept forward, flying toward Yuan Gate itself.
At the same time, flares shot up from other directions—but they, too, were engulfed and silenced by the advancing horde.
The fires of vengeance had ignited from every corner—Yuan Gate was now completely surrounded.
…
Inside Yuan Gate.
Demonic energy swirled violently, and eerie howls seemed to echo from the shadows.
Now chaos erupted within the sect as countless figures soared into the sky, looking to the horizon—where an endless army approached like a tidal wave.
No one could tell how many there were. Even those cloaked in Yuan Gate's demonic aura were visibly shaken.
"Kill!!"
As the invading army reached the skies above Yuan Gate, many of the warriors' eyes turned blood-red at the sight of their enemy.
With a thunderous roar, tens of thousands charged without fear!
"Hmph! Seeking death!"
Suddenly, a cold voice boomed from within Yuan Gate. A black beam of energy, thousands of feet long, shot forth.
Wherever it passed, those it touched were instantly reduced to bones—not even time to scream.
The bloodlust of the attackers faltered under the devastating counterattack, and many pulled back in panic.
Seeing this, the rest of the army wisely held their ground. They no longer charged blindly, but stood firm, eyes full of hatred, watching Yuan Gate's fortified domain.
At that moment, the sky rippled—and a massive rift opened.
Dao Sect's forces surged forth, led by Lin Fan, Lin Dong, and Ying Xuanzi.
Their arrival visibly reinvigorated the army.
Lin Fan hovered in the air, gazing at the dark, corrupted Yuan Gate.
"What a shame… The greatest sect in the Eastern Xuan Region has fallen into this abyss."
"Yuan Gate's dogs, I've come to fulfill our three-year promise! Are you going to keep hiding like cowards?"
His thunderous voice shook the heavens.
"How dare you trespass into Yuan Gate! You're courting death!"
A Yuan Gate elder snapped from above the gate.
"You're the one who's courting death," Lin Fan sneered, flicking his hand. A streak of black lightning shot forth.
Shlick!
It pierced the elder's skull before anyone could react. His body froze midair.
A golden light—a soul—fled the corpse in terror.
Just as Lin Fan was about to destroy it, a black streak flashed from within Yuan Gate and snatched the soul away to safety.
"…Still as ruthless as ever, little beast."
A cold voice echoed from within Yuan Gate.
From the shadows, three black figures emerged, rising into the air.
To the right stood a silver-haired man with skin like a newborn.
To the left, a pale-skinned elder in black robes with an eerie white hand.
In the center, a white-robed man whose eyes held swirling yin and yang, as if they mirrored the cosmos itself.
They looked exactly as they had three years ago.
They were the Three Gate Masters of Yuan Gate.
As Lin Fan's group sized them up, the gate masters did the same—focusing on Lin Fan in particular.
Sensing his aura, even the three of them narrowed their eyes.
"…We should've killed you no matter the cost, back then," said Tian Yuanzi, the central master, almost regretfully.
"You think you held back?" Lin Fan replied with a mocking smile.
Tian Yuanzi's gaze turned sharp. "Don't be too proud. We didn't kill you then—but we'll finish the job now."
"This time," Lin Fan said coldly, "it's you who'll die."
"Arrogant brat!"
Ren Yuanzi, face grim, stepped forward. "If not for your tricks back then, you'd never have escaped. Today, I'll show you just how great the gap between us truly is!"
The space around him twisted.
In the next instant, he appeared before Lin Fan—hand outstretched, radiating intense samsara energy.
