I watched with a mixture of amusement and concern as Cassian Vance leaned toward Evangeline, his voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. We were seated in the garden parlor, morning sunlight streaming through the windows, highlighting the intensity in his expression.
"If you want my brother's attention," Cassian advised, "you need to be more forward. Reed's brilliant with medicine but completely dense about women. Touch his arm when you laugh. Stand closer than necessary. Make him notice you as a woman, not just a friend."
Evangeline's cheeks flushed scarlet. "I couldn't possibly—"
"Of course you could," Cassian interrupted, grinning. "Just bat those pretty eyes of yours. He'll be putty in your hands."
I cleared my throat. "Cassian, I'm not sure Evangeline needs coaching on how to attract Reed. He already seems quite taken with her."
