The afternoon light filtered through Lady Rowena's newly hung silk curtains, casting an amber glow across her redecorated drawing room. I ran my fingers over the smooth surface of an ornate side table, admiring the intricate inlay work. Despite our complicated history, I couldn't deny that the woman had impeccable taste.
"What do you think of the new color scheme?" Lady Rowena asked, gesturing proudly around the room. "The azure complements the gold accents perfectly, don't you agree?"
"It's beautiful," I admitted honestly. "The whole house feels... lighter somehow."
Lady Rowena nodded, satisfaction evident in her expression. "That was precisely my intention. After divorcing Lysander, I needed to purge every reminder of that man from my surroundings."
