Chapter 92 - Chapter 92: Skill Special Training

🤗 Please if you find any incorrect names let me know in comments so I can fix them

For skills, for example, a Caterpie would originally only know Tackle and String Shot. Metapod would then learn Harden. And then evolving into Butterfree, it would instantly learn Sleep Powder, Stun Spore, and Gust.

However, the previous skills weren't actually forgotten, as this wasn't a game. Games have skill slots, so it's natural for new skills to overwrite old ones, and that's not surprising. But there's no such thing in reality, and a Pokémon's body isn't a computer, so skills can't be deleted like files.

In fact, in the early anime, there were no skill limitations, but that was also because the early anime's various settings were incomplete and not rigorous enough. In later anime,

it was never explicitly stated that Pokémon could only have four skills, but it was implicitly assumed that they only used four skills. The most obvious example is Pikachu: every time it went to a new region and learned new skills, it implicitly forgot the strongest skills from the previous generation.

However, knowing that it wasn't like the anime or game settings was actually better for Ash. In his opinion, many skills were very good, and not being forced to forget them was more advantageous. This allowed Pokémon to display more combat variations during battles.

For Gyarados, Ash hoped it would learn a rather special move: Flamethrower. This move, which was considered an advanced skill even for Fire-type Pokémon, would probably make Misty think Ash was crazy if she knew about it now.

But it was precisely from Misty that Ash got the inspiration. In the future, Misty not only overcame her fear of Gyarados but also caught her own Gyarados. Gyarados is very special; it doesn't have the Dragon type from beginning to end.

The Dragon type is called Dragon type because Dragon-type Pokémon are powerful and adaptable. Although there are weaknesses, Dragon-type Pokémon are indeed among the attributes that can learn the most types of moves among all Pokémon.

However, although Gyarados is called Gyarados, it is Water and Flying type, but it can learn many moves opposite to its attributes, such as Flamethrower, Hyper Beam,

and even Electric-type moves that are quadruply super effective against it. Learning Fire-type moves can greatly counter Grass, Steel, Ice, and many other types of Pokémon, and also have unexpected uses.

In addition, Pidgeotto and Butterfree are in similar situations. Pidgeotto is very fast. Currently, it knows Gust, Sand Attack, Quick Attack, and Wing Attack.

Pidgeotto is still in its second evolutionary stage, so its power isn't very strong, and while it's fast, it's hard to deliver a fatal blow. So, from now on, Ash began to train it to learn Steel Wing. Reality is not like games.

In real life, there are no TMs. Aside from moves Pokémon learn automatically, other moves must be learned through self-practice. This can be understood as: Gyarados's

current moves are all learned through evolution and leveling up, but moves that it cannot learn through leveling up, like TM moves, must be obtained through training. It's impossible to learn them by simply clicking on a TM like in the game.

Butterfree is the same. It currently has Sleep Powder, Stun Spore, Gust, and Tackle. Butterfree relies on skill in battle, with Sleep Powder and Stun Spore being its main methods. But these two control moves,

once they hit, require the ability to deliver a fatal blow to the opponent. Butterfree has a special trait after evolving: although it's not a Psychic type, it can learn Psychic-type moves. So, Ash also planned a training regimen for Psybeam.

Axew's overall route is based on super high attack power, so the main focus is on honing its attack power, primarily by strengthening its physique. As for Eevee, it's quite special. Eevee could be said to be the most unique among all Pokémon, as it has too many paths.

Unless it remains an Eevee, it can go in too many directions. Due to its inherent genes, Eevee can take multiple evolutionary routes, and it's even unknown if there are new evolutionary forms.

It's worth noting that Eevee and Pikachu are quite similar. Almost every new region introduces new forms. Ash hasn't decided yet, nor is he sure what form Eevee will evolve into in the future.

One of its forms is Umbreon, which appeared in Generation II. Don't be fooled by having a Moon Stone in hand; Umbreon's evolution condition is not the Moon Stone. It must evolve into Umbreon under specific conditions, and even if it could evolve with a Moon Stone, Ash wouldn't use it immediately.

Although Moon Stones and many other elemental stones can help Pokémon evolve quickly, rapid evolution can make a Pokémon's body unstable. While it does increase strength,

it doesn't maximize their potential, similar to an act of "pulling up seedlings to help them grow." Even in the games, if you evolve a level 10 Clefairy into Clefable with an Evolution Stone, it will still be very weak; you'll still need to level it up.

This is even more true in reality. Once a Pokémon's potential is developed to a certain extent, evolving it with an Evolution Stone is like adding wings to a tiger. Evolving it too early with an Evolution Stone doesn't really benefit the Pokémon much.

Because Eevee's evolutionary paths are too numerous and hard to pinpoint a direction, it can only learn versatile moves like Iron Tail and Dig.

As for powerful and practical moves that Eevee itself can learn and still use after evolving, Shadow Ball is quite suitable. So Ash also designed a training plan for Shadow Ball, but the current progress is similar to Pikachu's Electro Ball.

In any case, the training was proceeding in an orderly fashion. Unconsciously, Ash lost track of time. Misty and Brock had already woken up and prepared breakfast, but Ash still hadn't stopped training. The two knew Ash was out training, so they made breakfast and went to look for him. And at that moment...

"Are you a Pokémon Trainer too?" A voice interrupted Ash and his Pokémon, who were in the middle of their special training.

PS: In the anime, there isn't much concept of physical and special attacks. Often, Pokémon with high physical attack will use special attack moves, and those with high special attack will brawl with physical moves.
