Chapter 72 - Chapter 72: Tragic State

After Reze dealt with the female assassin, she found the Typhoon Devil in a drain on the rooftop. Renji didn't listen to the specific content of their conversation. But most likely, due to Reze's might, the Typhoon Devil would from then on obey Reze's commands, follow Reze, and become her subordinate.

"Sorry, sorry, Renji~ I'm back~"

Reze pulled open the classroom door and walked in with an apologetic expression.

Renji was sitting on a student chair, looking dazed and expressionless, his mind full of the foreign song Reze had just sung.

"Ah, welcome back~ Why did it take so long?"

Renji came back to his senses and looked at Reze.

Neither the initial large dick paired with a large butt, nor the recent female assassin, could affect Reze anymore. She had already detached from that state and returned to her original self.

"Oh dear~ I ate too much today, my stomach hurts terribly, so it took some time."

After hearing this, Renji nodded and then looked out the window.

The incessant heavy rain had gradually begun to stop two minutes ago and had now completely ceased.

"Let's go, let's leave this place."

"Mhm."

On the country road, Renji silently pushed the old bicycle, while Reze quietly walked beside him. A subtle silence hung between them, neither of them breaking the quiet first.

"Hey~ Renji, have you ever wondered what it's like outside of Tokyo and Kyoto?" Reze asked.

Renji was startled at first, subconsciously looking back behind him. At the demarcation line, the primeval jungle was right there.

He shook his head and replied, "I don't know."

"Then!"

Reze suddenly stopped, her voice a little louder than before. Seeing this, Renji also stopped and turned to look at her.

Reze continued to press her question.

"Then! Then Renji, have you ever thought about going to see what the outside world is really like?"

Renji nodded.

"I have."

Reze's eyes lit up, a shimmering light, a bright color full of hope and determination. She was about to speak again, to continue saying something, but Renji interrupted her.

"Reze, please, don't say anything for now. Although I have thought about what the outside world might be like, for now, I don't plan on going out to see it, because there are still things I must do here. Please, don't say any more..."

Renji understood what Reze was about to say next. She wanted to escape with Renji, like a mouse, to escape this "trap-like" place, break free from restraints, and go to the outside world.

However, for now, there were still many things Renji wasn't clear about. The first was who Reze was working for.

In the classroom, Renji mainly thought about this question. In this worldview, the Soviet Union did not exist. Renji thought long and hard, and the most fitting existence for the Soviet Union's position was the Man's Religion.

Reze might be from the Man's Religion.

The second point was whether Reze really wanted to escape this place with Renji, or if she intended to take Renji to a certain place.

These two were completely different concepts, but currently, Renji trusted Reze more, believing the former.

Renji recalled what Reze had said in the border area:

"Mice are trapped, unable to get out, so they gradually huddle together for warmth."

And just now, when Reze asked Renji if he wanted to go out and see, the hopeful light that flickered in her eyes...

Renji was more willing to believe that Reze wanted to escape with him and go to the outside world together.

Moreover, if Reze really spoke out, no matter what the final choice was, Renji's heart would definitely waver.

Renji indeed liked Reze; he had started to like her back in the modern world.

But then again, what was in the outside world? Reze's reaction—did she know what was out there? Renji was indeed very curious.

Renji didn't plan to directly ask Reze these questions, just as Reze hadn't directly revealed Renji's male identity, but instead used role-playing and blindfolds for temporary contact.

The connection between them was actually very fragile. Only this way would Reze always have a reason to explain to her organization behind the scenes and maintain such a fragile relationship with Renji.

Renji started pushing the bicycle again, and Reze silently followed.

After only a few steps, Reze suddenly swung her butt and sat sideways on the back seat, pouting and complaining.

"I'm tired, let me sit for a while."

"Alright, alright, you can sit for as long as you want."

"Oh, by the way, speaking of which, there's a festival in a district in Tokyo tomorrow night. There'll definitely be lots of delicious food and fun things. Want to go together?" Reze asked.

Renji thought for a moment and nodded.

"Tomorrow night, after work, I don't really have anything to do. Okay, let's go together then."

Reze was overjoyed, raising her hands high.

"—Yay!—Alright~ It's decided then! You can't go back on your word~ So, tomorrow night at 9 o'clock, come find me at the coffee shop~"

Renji raised his hand and waved it in the air.

"Don't worry!"

Renji rode his bicycle, taking Reze back to Tokyo.

"Okay, this is far enough. Remember~ Come find me at 9 o'clock tomorrow night~ Don't forget!"

Reze jumped off the bicycle, waved to Renji, and disappeared into the crowd.

Renji put his hand down, rode his bicycle towards home, parked it downstairs, and by the time he reached his doorstep, the sky was already turning a fish-belly white. Renji checked his phone and saw it was almost 7 o'clock.

And he didn't know when, but Himeno had called—three times in total—and they were all missed calls now.

Taking out his key and pushing open the door, Renji saw Denji's headless body lying in the entryway, while Denji's head was below the step, sticking out its tongue with a confident expression.

Power also had a large gash on her neck, her carotid artery severed, spurting black blood. She was completely still, wearing a similarly confident expression. The entire entryway was nearly soaked red with their blood.

"Holy crap! Hey! Denji! Power! Are you okay?!"

After Renji shouted, he secretly cursed himself. His practical experience was still too limited; at this moment, he should have quietly retreated instead.

Shouting like that would only alert the enemy to his arrival.

Just then, a sound came from the kitchen—soft footsteps accompanied by the clink of a bottle.

"Don't worry. One of them is immortal, and the other is half-immortal. What? Judging by your expression, Himeno didn't tell you?"

A beautiful woman holding a wine bottle stepped into view before Renji.
