Uchiha Nagi did not join the spirits of the Uchiha clan in their slaughter of the Sarutobi and Shimura clans. He had more important business to attend to.
He went to the Hyuga clan compound to select a pair of pure Byakugan for his student, Kimimaro.
After so many years together, Nagi no longer saw the loyal Kimimaro as a mere tool, but as a true student, a member of his own family. So, when Kimimaro's kekkei genkai illness began to relapse, just as it had in the original timeline, Nagi had set his sights on the Byakugan of the Hyuga clan.
The Sharingan plus Wood Style could grant the power of all creation. What about the Shikotsumyaku plus the Byakugan?
The original story didn't go into much detail about the bloodline abilities of Hamura Otsutsuki, Hagoromo's younger brother. But the two brothers were of similar strength, and it was likely that the younger brother also possessed a similar power of all creation. That was how the two of them were able to fight their mother for months on end. The younger brother's abilities were in no way inferior to his older brother's Rinnegan; his descendants were just more low-key.
In the movie, a member of the Hyuga branch family on the moon unlocked the Tenseigan immediately after having a Byakugan implanted. This was an ability on par with the Rinnegan, and it completely overwhelmed Naruto, who had already mastered Sage Mode and become a perfect jinchuriki. A single full-powered strike could even slice the moon in half.
But it was important to note that the user was from a Hyuga branch family. He was a Hyuga, not a Kaguya. This meant he had not obtained the complete power of all creation, because he lacked the Shikotsumyaku. His genes were incomplete.
And Kimimaro, as one of the few members of the Kaguya clan with the purest form of the Shikotsumyaku, if he were to have a Byakugan transplanted... with his talent and potential for growth, it was not an exaggeration to say he could awaken a Tenseigan-like power of all creation.
It was important to remember that the Byakugan, unlike the Sharingan, did not have a strong rejection effect on the body. This was why the entire shinobi world coveted the Byakugan, and why the Hyuga main family had invented the Caged Bird Seal.
Uchiha Nagi brazenly walked into the Hyuga clan's compound. Several branch family members, their Byakugan active, couldn't detect him in the slightest. The same was true for the clan's sensory ninja.
The Transparent World. As long as you didn't see him with your own eyes, to an outsider, Uchiha Nagi was a rock, a gust of wind, a plant—one with nature. That was the power of being in a state of harmony with the universe. He could come and go as he pleased.
"Hm?" On his way, Nagi spotted a little loli.
"Who are you? What are you doing in the Hyuga family home?" the little girl asked curiously.
"Little one, come here. Look into uncle's eyes..." Nagi said with a grin, activating his Mangekyo Sharingan.
"You're an intruder..." Before the little girl could finish, she met a pair of crimson eyes and fainted.
Nagi chuckled and slung his prize over his shoulder. If the Hyuga clan's other Byakugan didn't satisfy him, she would be Kimimaro's.
This was Hinata's younger sister, Hanabi Hyuga. She possessed a Byakugan even purer than her sister's. However, Hanabi was too young. The size of her eyeballs wouldn't match Kimimaro, who was now a young adult. Nagi would only consider using her eyes as a last resort if he couldn't find a suitable pair.
"Hm? Who's there?"
Upon reaching the Hyuga clan's forbidden area, someone finally discovered Nagi. Several branch family guards immediately activated their Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms and attacked.
"Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms? Interesting. I'll play with you."
Nagi put Hanabi down and assumed the same stance as his opponents.
"Eight Trigrams One Hundred Twenty-Eight Palms!"
"What?" "How is that possible?"
In an instant, the branch family members were struck by Nagi's Eight Trigrams One Hundred Twenty-Eight Palms, their chakra points sealed, and they collapsed to the ground.
"You... you're an Uchiha! How do you know our Hyuga clan's Eight Trigrams Palms...?" a downed Hyuga ninja asked in disbelief.
"Is it that hard to learn? As long as you have a transparent field of vision like the Byakugan and a basic understanding of the five elements and the eight trigrams, you can learn the Hyuga clan's secret techniques just by watching them once," Nagi said with a chuckle.
It was true. The perception of the Transparent World was no different from the Byakugan. Nagi could see a person's muscles, bones, and even the flow of their blood with perfect clarity. To him, what was the difference between that and having the Byakugan?
And since he basically had the Byakugan, as long as he familiarized himself with the five elements and the eight trigrams, it wasn't difficult at all. During the Chunin Exams, Nagi had watched Neji Hyuga perform the Eight Trigrams Palms Revolving Heaven once and had learned it instantly.
After defeating the guards, Nagi began to ponder how to open the sealed secret chamber. He wasn't afraid he couldn't open it, but he was afraid that if he used brute force, he might trigger some kind of self-destruct mechanism and destroy the collection of Byakugan they had amassed over the generations.
He might as well just take it by force.
Nagi brought his sword down on the sealed door, triggering the alarm. The entire Hyuga clan was quickly alerted. They all knew an enemy was trying to steal from their forbidden grounds.
Soon, Hiashi Hyuga arrived with a group of ninja. The moment they entered the secret chamber, they saw the downed guards and his daughter lying on the floor.
"You are... the missing-nin, Uchiha Nagi?" Hiashi Hyuga asked in a grave voice.
The most troublesome of enemies had arrived. But the Hyuga clan had no great grudge against him. Why was he here?
"I'll cut to the chase, Hiashi Hyuga. I need a pair of pure Byakugan. If you don't give them to me, that's fine too. I'll just take them from your daughter. But if I do, the Hyuga clan will be erased from existence today." Nagi activated his Mangekyo, his Kage-level aura and killing intent flooding the entire Hyuga clan compound.
The poor Hiashi Hyuga, although a jonin, had been so well-protected by the branch family his entire life that he had never had the chance to be pushed to his limits and evolve. At best, his strength was approaching that of a special jonin. And the branch family members, though they fought on the front lines, were forever held back by the Caged Bird Seal, their Byakugan unable to evolve, their strength capped at the jonin level.
"The Hyuga clan is not a clan you can just push around..." Hiashi said, his face grim as he resisted Nagi's aura and assumed a fighting stance.
He had no choice but to fight. If he just meekly handed over the Byakugan after a single threat, he would have to step down as the clan head.
"Hmph. Stubborn." Nagi sneered and assumed the same stance.
"Eight Trigrams Vacuum Palm!" "Rotation!"
Hiashi unleashed an Eight Trigrams Vacuum Palm, which Nagi coolly deflected with a Rotation. Nagi then returned the favor with his own Vacuum Palm. Hiashi managed to dodge, but the Hyuga clansmen behind him were not so lucky. One of them was sent flying through several walls, coughing up bits of his internal organs, clearly not going to survive.
"Eight Trigrams One Hundred Twenty-Eight Palms!" "Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms!" "Eight Trigrams Thirty-Two Palms!"
Faced with the furious onslaught of several Hyuga, Nagi just sneered. Is this all? The Hyuga clan really had nothing but taijutsu. Their only long-range attack was the Vacuum Palm, and while it was a decent technique, it was only useful in one-on-one fights. In a large-scale battle, it was completely inadequate.
"Susanoo!" Nagi didn't hold back. A flaming chakra avatar, a half-bodied giant, materialized around him, its form breaking through the roof of the Hyuga's secret chamber.
A dozen or so Hyuga branch members rained down their Eight Trigrams Palms on the Susanoo. The scene was like a group of boxers punching a steel wall without gloves.
After a futile barrage of attacks, they embarrassingly found that they had only managed to hurt their own hands, while their opponent was completely unscathed.
Nagi expanded the Susanoo to its full, hundred-meter-tall form. The giant stood in the middle of the Hyuga clan compound, the roof of the secret chamber completely shattered.
"Hiashi Hyuga, since you're not going to be reasonable, I'll be taking your daughter's eyes." Nagi, with Hinata's sister still slung over his shoulder, raised the Sword of Totsuka. Her eyes were actually quite pure.
The Susanoo brought the sword down, and the Hyuga's secret chamber exploded.
BOOM!
Sealing jutsu, exploding tags, traps—they were all useless against the massive Susanoo. To seal a behemoth like this, you'd need a super-massive sealing jutsu like Shukaku's pyramid seal, or the assistance of a Sealing Squad and something like the Kohaku no Johei.
After the explosion, the contents of the secret chamber were scattered everywhere: various ninjutsu scrolls, money, treasures, and storage scrolls.
The Hyuga clansmen were still not giving up, continuing to attack the Susanoo from below. But it was still like trying to scratch an itch through armor; they couldn't break its defense.
SWISH—
Nagi's Gundam swung its hand. It seemed slow, but it was actually incredibly fast. A dozen Hyuga clansmen were sliced into pieces by the giant sword.
"Stop! Uchiha Nagi, stop! I surrender! I'll give you the Byakugan!" Hiashi cried out, his heart twisting in pain. These were his clansmen.
"Hmph. You had to be forced. Hand them over. I'll give you one minute. If you don't, I'll raze the Hyuga clan to the ground." Nagi stood coldly inside his Gundam, looking down on them like a god.
"Fine! Just don't attack anymore! I'll give you the Byakugan!" Hiashi walked to the ruined secret chamber, formed a hand seal, and a hidden basement appeared in the rubble.
Nagi didn't bother to follow him in. He waited outside. Who knew what kind of traps and sealing jutsu were down there.
Seeing this, Hiashi knew the man wouldn't follow him. He could only helplessly jump down himself. Less than a minute later, he reappeared.
He opened a storage scroll, and with a puff of smoke, a dozen or so test tubes appeared, all containing Byakugan left behind by deceased main family members.
This old fox...
Nagi sneered. The Hyuga clan's collection, spanning over a thousand years, definitely had more than this. Considering that some might have degraded over time, a dozen pairs? He certainly hadn't brought them all out.
The Hyuga were divided into the main and branch families, but it wasn't like the main family only had one child per generation. To appease the branch families, the head of the branch family in each generation was always a direct descendant of the main family. See? Our main family sends a child to your branch family every generation. What more do you have to complain about?
That was why Hizashi had been unlucky enough to be born into the branch family, while Hiashi had been lucky enough to be born into the main family. But it didn't mean that every generation of the main family was a single child. If that were the case, the branch family wouldn't have so much resentment.
But none of that mattered to Nagi. He used his Transparent World to carefully examine the dozen or so pairs of Byakugan. Three pairs were of high purity, equivalent to a three-tomoe Sharingan. The others were more ordinary.
That was enough. It was more than enough for Kimimaro.
Nagi wasn't one to be polite. More was always better. He took all dozen pairs.
"Hmph. If you had just handed them over earlier, no one would have had to die. Here's your daughter back." Nagi casually tossed the still-unconscious little loli to Hiashi and then teleported away with a Flying Thunder God.
He had more important things to do.
Outside Konoha Village—
The Chunin Exams had long since stopped. After Kabuto received the signal, the hidden Sand and Sound shinobi had launched their attack on Konoha.
But Konoha was simply too big. As the most prosperous and fertile of the Five Great Nations, Konoha was called a village, but in reality, its area was larger than an ancient city.
By the time the invading ninja had reached the halfway point, Konoha had already mobilized its forces in a counterattack. The Leaf Village, which had once fought off four other great nations at the same time, was terrifying when it mobilized its full strength, especially on its home turf. With their shinobi already at home, it took no time at all to assemble an army.
The Sand and Sound shinobi, coming for the Chunin Exams, naturally couldn't bring their entire armies with them. So, the key to the Konoha Crush plan was—
Gaara.
But at this moment, Gaara was being carried out of Konoha by Kankuro and Temari. The Chidori had severely injured him, and his jinchuriki's powerful healing factor needed time to work, especially since his Tailed Beast was currently throwing a tantrum in his mindscape.
Sasuke had foolishly pursued them. After a brief battle, he had been nearly killed. At the last moment, Naruto had arrived just in time to save him.
But just as Naruto defeated the semi-Tailed-Beast-transformed Gaara, Gaara had gone on a rampage, releasing Shukaku in its complete form.
[Hahahaha! To be let out in such a disgusting place! Disgusting green forests, disgusting humans, and the disgusting smell of a fox!]
Shukaku's massive eyes immediately spotted Naruto. The familiar scent of the fox on him was what it hated most.
[I'll kill you! I'll kill the stinking fox! I'll exterminate this disgusting green! Sand Waterfall Imperial Funeral!]
Shukaku excitedly formed a hand seal. The fertile soil was instantly transformed into yellow sand under its control, creating a monstrous sandstorm tsunami.
Its targets were the green forest and the few ninja below.
"It's over! Boss Toad, get out here, quick! If you don't, your little bro is gonna die!" Naruto panicked, trying desperately to summon, but the more anxious he got, the more mistakes he made, even messing up the hand seals.
"Am I going to die? The Uchiha clan's revenge is still not complete, and I'm going to die here...?" Sasuke muttered to himself, staring at the sand wave in the sky. If nothing unexpected happened, he was dead for sure.
Finally, the vast sea of sand crashed down, burying a large swathe of the lush green forest and turning it into a desert.
But then, something unexpected happened. Naruto and Sasuke were still alive.
[Hm? What are those two?] Shukaku asked, confused.
In the desert stood two behemoths. One was the toad boss, Gamabunta. The other was a red chakra giant.
These two giants had blocked a portion of the sand sea, saving the few little bugs below.
Sasuke stared dumbly at the Susanoo standing in front of him.
"O... Otou-san...?"
