Eden had a finger over his chin as he shook his head. "Taking their soul doesn't necessarily mean killing them..."
Eden explained, "When they take a person's soul—or in some cases, their spirit core—the person still stays alive. But they've lost something vital inside. They live like empty shells, existing without purpose or reason. Just like a breeze blowing through the air. They're still alive and can do things, but they're empty inside."
"In some cases, they fall sick later on and die. And in other cases, the person using this magic can choose to take their life for a more efficient result," he explained.
Helen and Adrian slowly nodded while they listened to him. Helen said, "When they took the lives of my parents and my people... it seems they went for the extreme means."
Eden nodded in agreement. "They do that when they're desperate. When it's urgent. Then killing for a faster response is best."
Helen gasped. "Monsters..."
