Marie's POV
Mancini tied his towel back around his waist and walked out of the room. At the door, he turned to tell me not to lock it again.
"Lock this door and you're dead," he said.
The door meant nothing to him. It was just about defying him. He hated it. He always assumed that everything would work exactly as he wanted it. My whole body tingled in pain.
At the same time, I tried to forget that I had made him think I enjoyed what he did to me when I couldn't help the sounds that escaped my mouth.
I was hopeless. The room suffocated me. It was just his scent everywhere, and the room felt like I couldn't breathe if I stayed one more moment. But I had to persevere. It was only a matter of time before I figured out how to completely deal with Mancini.
I didn't just want to end the marriage or escape. I wanted to do something that would make Mancini regret ever torturing my family and having me as a wife.
I wanted to be the thing that ruined his life.
