Marie's POV
It was quiet in my room, but not the peaceful kind of quiet. My mind was in turmoil. Lunch had ended quickly after Patricia left, and Mancini just stood up from his table to go and answer an important call.
I still didn't understand why or how Patricia got into the house. We weren't really that close of friends. We were friends once in high school, but I was young and foolish and had all kinds of friends. Sometimes Patricia annoyed me, and I wished she would leave me alone. Imagine seeing her in my home, at my table, after many months of not seeing her.
At some point, I started to think to myself, what if Dante had sent her? Maybe this was a plan with my family for her to come. But I wasn't sure what the truth was.
I just needed to confirm that Mancini wasn't bluffing when he said he would let Dante visit.
