Mia stepped forward and turned to the group. "Welcome to the first practical casting class. I will be your instructor and teach you everything I know over the next few years! I hope you will be able to handle it!" She exclaimed proudly.
A nervous chuckle escaped some students.
"So, just for me to get to know your skills, I will ask you to demonstrate your most powerful spells against that boulder."
Her eyes then fell on Aqua. "I expect great results from some of you. Do not worry about breaking the stone. It is a piece of raw mythril. Magic won't as much as scratch it."
Mia slowly walked over to the boulder and slid her palm over it. "Even a blessed child will struggle destroying this, so show me your most powerful spell!"
That. Aqua closed her eyes and inhaled sharply. Mia, you are really overestimating the durability of that rock.
"Everyone, get in a line and start on it." She said, turning to Aqua. "Aqua, you are going last, understood?"
While it was true that Mythril had high anti-magical properties, it was far from immune. While it could easily disperse spells of low-tier exterminator, anyone higher would be able to damage it and eventually break it.
Someone like Sheira would leave nothing but dust with a mere fireball. Her eyes wandered to Azure. Perhaps she would struggle with it a bit, but nothing she wouldn't be able to deal with.
If she wants to test if I can break it, I should go last. She turned to Sheira and shook her head. If that piece of metal even survives Sheira.
However, Mythril had a fatal weakness.
Its physical durability in its unalloyed form was barely higher than gold.
The lesser nobles cast their weak spells, not even leaving a scorch mark on the mythril.
Mia stared at Noble's satisfied smirks, and her brow twitched. "Next," she spoke with a shaky voice.
Hikari held her hands in a 'V' shape while approaching close to the chunk of mythril. She grasped the air, and a staff of pure light formed in her hand. The blessed child of dawn closed her eyes and pointed her staff.
"I see, you use prayer and channel the power of your god. I can work with that," Mia said, pinching her chin.
Hikari tilted her head and looked at Mia. She smiled gently. "Kind of~." She answered and focused on her target.
I need to be careful.
Hikari's brows furrowed, and she clicked her tongue. "By the power of Light, I pray to the Lady of Dawn." She chanted, the power gathered around her, causing powerful winds to swirl around her. "May the cycle of day and night continue forevermore, and we, your faithful servants, shall carry forth your will. Lady of Dawn, guide my hand and strike down my enemy. [Solar Beam]."
The power gathered at the tip of her lightbound staff. The singularity rippled and the miniature sun formed.
For a mere moment, it spun peacefully, and then it shattered.
The sound was drowned out by a high-pitched screech, and a wave of light washed over the boulder.
She is definitely holding back. Aqua's lips stretched into a line. The blessed child of dawn was extremely powerful compared to the majority of inhabitants of this world, she hid herself rather well.
Soon, the light faded, and the previously pure white stone turned black. The staff of light dispersed into wisps, and she turned toward Mia, who looked at the scene with a satisfied expression. "That was me," Hikari said, bowing.
As soon as she returned to the group, she was surrounded by other nobles who quickly started praising her.
Hikari nervously chuckled and slowly distanced herself. "It's nothing..." She said, a small blush forming on her face.
Avaros was next, he stepped forward and smirked. "I might not be as powerful as these ladies, but observe the fruits of my labor." He stretched his hand forward and without any wait, a mass of fire burst forth, crashing against the boulder and creating a glazed layer over it.
He smiled and returned to the group without a further word.
"Azu, go on, your turn," Aqua said.
The champion nodded and stepped forward. She straightened her hand forward and her eyes locked onto the raw mythril.
Mythril is weak to physical attacks, so Earth should be very effective. A spike of earth formed above her.
The shadows swirled around it, attaching themselves to the drill's base. Azure narrowed her gaze and closed her fist.
The earthen projectile whistled through the air, its tip connecting to the mythril's surface. Then it spun, the shadows spun, increasing its speed.
As if the rock offered no resistance, the spear of earth drilled straight through the material, crashing into the ground behind it.
A sound of clapping reached her, and she snapped her neck back, seeing Mia looking at her as if she had exceeded her expectations many times over.
She turned toward the group and bowed before returning to the group.
"Next."
"My turn~," Sheira stated, her hands behind her head.
Sheira casually walked over. She turned to Aqua and looked at her with pleading eyes.
Aqua sighed, and a faint bronze dome appeared over Sheira and her target.
Mia looked at the barrier with curiosity before turning to Aqua. She smiled and turned back to Sheira.
[You can destroy it if you want. I will make sure you don't blow up anyone else.]
The connection was cut, leaving a happy princess.
She formed a sphere between her palms. The power raged around her, a tide of mana and divinity that threatened to swallow everything around her.
The inferno in her hand gained a pure white color, it's light was blinding.
Oh? Aqua leaned forward, carefully observing the spell.
The mana inside the barrier crushed the ground, and the place where Sheira stood sank into the grassland.
Careful. Aqua focused on making sure the power didnt leak out. The boulder started to crumble, so Aqua used her own power to reinforce it. I suppose it's healthy that someone as young as her wants to show off a little.
The boulder that was on the verge of being crushed by the sheer amount of mana restored itself, standing proud against the overwhelming power of a hatchling goddess.
Sheira struggled against the orb and then released it.
The blast she had released was instant.
In the blink of an eye, the magic-resistant material was reduced to dust, and the ground inside the dome was turned to glass.
The princess looked at her palms and panted. "That felt so good!" She shouted.
The entirety of the group cowered and trembled, including the professor, leaving only Aqua, Azure, and Hikari standing.
The blessed child looked at the scene in amazement. "That phenomenal power," Hikari said, her voice trembling.
Aqua's gaze met Mia's, who stared at her as if she had slaughtered her entire family.
Aqua couldn't help but chuckle a little as the temporal dome shattered, releasing Sheira, who slowly approached. "I feel so much better, it's like a mountain has been removed from my shoulders." She said, her lips stretching from ear to ear.
She really needed a way to release herself, huh. Aqua crossed her arms. "First, go apologize to Mia for destroying it. I will think about making you something to help with your unnatural growth."
"Thank you…" She said sheepishly and rubbed the back of her head, turning to Mia and approaching.
The princess bowed deeply and spoke to her just out of earshot.
"I guess I can reconstruct that chunk of mythril. I am pretty sure it was very expensive." She stepped forward.
However, there was one issue.
Not even dust remained of the boulder.
Only the authority of time can restore this. She hummed. It was out of the question to use time for such a minor issue.
Aqua closed her eyes.
I can probably just give her a piece from my storage. She quickly dismissed the thought from her head and decided on an alternative.
I will just create a new piece for her.
She stepped forward to where the boulder once stood and opened her palms toward the sky.
[Supreme Creation], The mana flowed out of her, shaping and settling into the form of a smooth pillar.
Its form was bleached and smoothed out, giving it a mirror-like surface. Then, she clapped her hands, and a blue film shattered.
She felt a tug on her sleeve. She leaned down, bringing her ear close to Mia's mouth. "Aqua. Are you sure you want to attend my classes? I feel like I will just hold you down." Mia whispered, her eyes glued to the new pillar of mythril.
Aqua nodded. "Yes."
"Good, your entire friend group is composed of monsters. Please try to keep it down, I do not want others to lose spirit just because you four are so advanced."
"I promise I will keep most of my spells on a basic level." She answered before turning toward the group behind her.
Everyone stared at the newly created ore with their mouths agape.
"Creating something basic like mythril out of mana is not that big of a deal."
"Not that big of a deal?! That is the power not even blessed children can attain. You are really something." Mia loudly whispered.
The duo separated, and Mia let out a loud sigh. "Now what do I do with that princess that obliterated Mythril like it was nothing? I am sure we are only alive because of your barrier."
"I will keep her contained. Please just continue with your classes as you intended." She said, smiling.
"I guess I can trust you, but you better teach me how to cast using aether, you only taught me how to inscribe runes with it," Mia said with a grin on her face.
"Sure, let's meet here tonight," Aqua answered and turned toward the group. "Also, I am looking forward to what you teach the youth, it won't be easy for you to get rid of me~" She teased before winking and approaching other students.
