Chapter 85 - Trap

"Did he know?"

Liu Erlong felt a chill crawl down her spine. She kept muttering under her breath.

"Impossible… impossible…"

Zhuqing, who had experienced the darkness of clan politics, pieced everything together. The thought of deceiving a woman to the point where she would wait twenty years for him, even after being abandoned, terrified her.

This was no mere manipulation. This was brainwashing.

Ye Lingling also understood what Wu Lan was trying to reveal.

Both she and Zhuqing, along with Liu Erlong, felt goosebumps rise all over their bodies.

Only Xiao Wu stood there looking completely clueless.

Wu Lan sighed.

As expected of a rabbit brain.

Realizing that only she hadn't understood, Xiao Wu quickly moved closer to Wu Lan and tugged at him.

"Brother, tell me. I don't understand."

"Rabbit, you listened to her story carefully, didn't you?"

"Yeah, I listened," Xiao Wu said, pouting. "But the Yu Xiaogang in her story sounds like a good person. The Yu Xiaogang we know is just a selfish bastard." She crossed her arms, making a cute thinking face.

Liu Erlong snapped out of her daze when she heard this. Her voice trembled as she asked,

"Tell me… tell me what you know about my gong."

Xiao Wu nodded and began explaining Yu Xiaogang's deeds at Nuoding Academy.

"Yu Xiaogang lived at Nuoding Academy for years. He never taught or guided anyone. I heard that in the earlier years, many commoner students came to him, hoping to learn since he was supposedly knowledgeable. But he ruthlessly insulted them and drove them away.

He carried himself with arrogance. Despite being weak, he always looked down on others. Even though everyone mocked him behind his back, he shamelessly ate and drank in the academy for free.

He even shamelessly claimed that his name was "Master," saying he had forgotten his real name because for a long time everyone called him Master."

Listening to all this, Liu Erlong's eyes widened. This Yu Xiaogang felt completely unfamiliar.

"Is this true?" she asked in disbelief.

Ye Lingling and Zhuqing both felt their view of Yu Xiaogang shatter. They had never seen such a shameless person before.

"You can verify it at Nuoding Academy if you don't believe me," Xiao Wu said firmly. Then she turned to Wu Lan. "Brother, now tell me."

Wu Lan nodded.

"Rabbit, each clan has a unique martial spirit that represents their standing. For example, if you see the Clear Sky Hammer, you know it belongs to the Clear Sky Clan. If you see the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda, you know it belongs to the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan.

And in this continent, dragon-type martial spirits are unique to the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan. If you see someone with a dragon-type martial spirit, they are definitely related to that clan."

He paused, waiting for Xiao Wu to process this. Seeing her nod, he continued.

"So when someone sees Liu Erlong's Fire Dragon martial spirit, even a person with just a little knowledge of martial spirits would know she belongs to the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan.

Yu Xiaogang has studied martial spirits his entire life. With his so-called vast knowledge, how could he not recognize his own clan's martial spirit? If he truly didn't even know his own clan's unique martial spirit, then he should just commit suicide." Wu Lan's tone was full of mockery.

"And the worst part? His martial spirit looks like a pig. That's why no one suspected he was from the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan."

Now, even Xiao Wu understood. That bastard had known about Liu Erlong's origins all along but had deliberately kept silent, playing with her feelings.

Liu Erlong smiled bitterly at Wu Lan's words. She couldn't deny them, but she couldn't accept them either.

She knew Yu Xiaogang had studied countless martial spirits in his attempt to resolve his mutation. With his knowledge, he absolutely should have recognized her origin. But he hadn't told her.

Why?

For what purpose?

Why had he toyed with her life like this? She desperately wanted an answer.

She looked at Wu Lan with pleading eyes.

"Why?"

Wu Lan thought for a moment before replying.

"I don't know. But if you want answers, only Yu Xiaogang himself can give them."

"Brother, will that bastard even tell the truth?" Xiao Wu asked doubtfully. Knowing Yu Xiaogang's character, she couldn't imagine him revealing anything honestly.

"Don't worry. I know a method to make him speak. But we'll have to heal him first." Wu Lan smiled faintly. He was already a professional at this method, he had practiced it since childhood.

Xiao Wu looked at Liu Erlong, who now resembled a walking corpse. Knowing that the man she had loved had deceived her all along… that pain was worse than death.

"Take her to her room and comfort her," Wu Lan instructed. "She's not in a state to hear anything else right now."

The three girls nodded and gently led Liu Erlong away.

Wu Lan watched her leave and muttered coldly,

"Yu Xiaogang, since you never cherished Liu Erlong's presence, I've helped you destroy it. I hope you're prepared for what's to come."

As he thought this, his eyes caught a familiar figure.

Tang San.

The boy's expression was dark, his fists clenched so tightly that blood dripped from his palms. His eyes were bloodshot with anger, and his face was twisted with frustration.

Wu Lan felt a surge of joy at the sight.

Tang San walked toward a desolate area, lost in thought. Curious, Wu Lan followed him silently.

Soon, Tang San reached an empty place far from people. He stopped in front of a tree, glaring at it.

Bang. Bang.

"Ahhhhhhh!"

He screamed as he punched the tree again and again, ignoring his injuries.

"Those bastards from the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan dare to steal my opportunity! They're courting death! Just wait, I'll kill you all!"

He kept cursing and punching, venting his rage.

Wu Lan had to bite back his laughter.

This hypocritical fool deserved every bit of it.

And this was only the beginning.

He would slowly play Yu Xiaogang and Tang San to death.

He would make them pay for everything.
