Chapter 251 - CHAPTER 251

The night was deep and silent.

In the Second Division's Yanwu Square, where all training grounds should have long fallen into quiet darkness, a lone figure moved under the dim glow of lantern light.

Sui-Feng.

Her uniform clung to her skin, soaked through with sweat, yet her flushed face burned with a strange light that had nothing to do with exhaustion.

After much persuasion from Unohana Retsu, Sui-Feng had finally left the Fourth Division's infirmary and returned to her duties. The boy's injuries were healed his condition stable, only his consciousness adrift in sleep. Staying in the clinic any longer would only hinder the medical staff. And after the war, the Second Division's affairs had piled up; Omaeda alone could not manage them all.

So she obeyed reason, left the ward, and resumed command though not without extracting a promise from Unohana. If the boy awoke, she was to be notified immediately.

Unohana had smiled and agreed, her calm gaze as gentle and dependable as ever.

Now, beneath the quiet night wind, Sui-Feng's strikes cut through the air with crisp precision. Each motion drew a sharp whistle as her fists and feet sliced the silence. Yet the faint blush on her face refused to fade, and her normally cold eyes held a trace of unfocused light something between embarrassment and distraction.

Like everyone else in the Gotei 13, her heart whispered the same goal: become stronger.

But what filled her thoughts tonight was something else entirely.

That day in the ward…

The moment the bandages were removed

That unguarded glimpse

That body, far too perfect for words

The image flashed again in her mind. The more she tried to suppress it, the redder her face grew.

As if seized by some unseen spell, her rhythm faltered; she twisted awkwardly and fell onto the ground with a dull thud.

But Sui-Feng didn't move. She just lay there, eyes glazed, lips parted slightly as a silly, dazed smile crept across her face. The night air cooled her skin, but her cheeks burned hotter, faint wisps of heat rising from her flushed features.

She stared up at the star-strewn sky, forcing herself not to think yet the image surfaced again, unbidden, as if burned into memory.

She was mortified, and the more she blushed, the more she remembered.

That vision had been… too much.

"If only I'd been there first…" she muttered through clenched teeth. "Damn it. Ah Li's body was seen by those two…" Her brow furrowed in fury. "I should've gouged out their eyes."

But she knew it was pointless. They were doctors it was their duty. There was no indecency in what they did. Their work was noble, sacred.

Still, Sui-Feng could not keep from sulking. Her emotions flickered like spring weather half frustration, half reluctant delight.

Then suddenly, her expression hardened. A faint tremor came from the Zanpakutō at her waist.

Before she could react, a soft sound broke the stillness.

Tap…

Sui-Feng straightened, eyes sharp again. Her hand brushed the hilt of Suzumebachi as she turned toward the sound.

From the shadows ahead, a figure emerged clad in black, face masked, movements silent.

The uniform was unmistakable.

A messenger of the Support Division.

Within the Seireitei, there were many methods for delivering high-priority orders Hell Butterflies, Kidō transmission, encrypted letters but among them, none were as absolute or secure as human delivery.

The Support Division served directly under the Captain-Commander. They appeared only when the message carried the highest urgency.

Seeing one now, Sui-Feng's eyes narrowed in surprise. The Captain-Commander was summoning them… through this channel?

Her brow furrowed. Whatever it was, it wasn't trivial.

Across the Seireitei, in the darkened halls of the Fourth Division, the faint lamplight of a ward flickered.

Unohana Retsu stood silently by the bedside, her gaze resting on the boy's sleeping face. He had been unconscious for nearly a week, his breath steady but shallow, his spirit quiet as still water.

Worry lingered in her chest tempered by something far more delicate.

The boy's continued slumber allowed her these stolen moments to simply watch. His calm expression, the soft rise and fall of his chest. She could observe without restraint, without interruption.

And though the thought was improper, even perverse, Unohana felt no shame. In her mind, this was harmless. After all, he would wake soon. Until then, a few more glances were harmless indulgence.

She had endured centuries of violence and war, yet here, in this still room, she found an unfamiliar warmth.

Her pulse quickened.

Recalling the memory of that day the ward awash in faint color, the moment his wounds were revealed her lips curved into a quiet, almost guilty smile. She was not a shy girl like Sui-Feng or Isane. She had seen storms far greater than this. And yet, even for her, there lingered a faint restlessness she could not dismiss.

Her fingers brushed the edge of the quilt. For days she had resisted the urge to revisit that moment but tonight, alone beneath the soft hum of silence, her will wavered.

Doctor's duty, she told herself. Clinical care, not curiosity. It was a perfectly valid reason.

Her hand trembled as it neared the cover. Her heart thudded.

Tap…

The faintest sound echoed through the room.

Unohana froze. Color drained from her face. Her pale fingers stopped midair, suspended inches from the quilt. Slowly, she turned toward the shadowed corner.

From the darkness stepped a figure dressed in the black uniform of the Support Division.

Unohana's calm eyes flickered. A late-night messenger meant only one thing: an order from above. But her first instinct was not duty it was irritation.

He had interrupted her moment.

For an instant, she entertained the notion of silencing him. Permanently.

Then her Zanpakutō stirred faintly at her side, pulling her thoughts back to focus.

Her gaze hardened once more, her presence shifting from quiet to commanding.

The messenger knelt, voice crisp and urgent.

"By command of the Captain-Commander"

"All captains and vice-captains of the Gotei 13 are to assemble immediately at Sōkyoku Hill!"

"Proceed without delay. No mistakes will be tolerated!"

His voice echoed through the dim ward like a knell.

Unohana stood motionless beside the boy's bed, her calm expression hiding the storm within her eyes.

The night of silence had ended.
