Chapter 43 - Destructive Indemnify?

Ever-present silence reigned over following Naph and Svnyo's query.

It was less of a query than a realization both had little idea of. Naph did not know what those words meant, and Svnyo knew the words but never thought something like that could be together in a single being. Let alone a caestre.

But before anyone could have answered, Naph blurted out. "WAIT! Where's Bulwark!?" Her dead body was nowhere around them. Neither was his strange ride of four wheels.

The only few things he had at the moment were a bunch of daggers, his neon jacket, his black t-shirt, a brown jeans and his worn out shoes.

Frantically spinning in looking all over the empty sky, his heart began thumping louder and louder. 'No, no, no, no, no!'

"We…We have to-!" Nert grabbed Naph's shoulder.

Bringing out a random cube from inside his beige blazer. "I have got her and your stuff." He winked. The cube opened itself. Naph didn't see any command being given or anything being used to open the cube. Suddenly out of it flew out Bulwark still inside the same ride covered in a white tarp.

Before her dead body even escaped completely, the cube distorted and splintered in an explosion. The bits and pieces stopped in the air before it could hit anybody.

Nert surprised, "That shouldn't have happened? She is dead." He looked up from his empty bruised hand to Cryst and others. "This is supposed to hold lifeless objects."

Bulwark wasn't damaged but anything else that was stored inside was coming back to its full size.

Attires, accessories, books, tomes, weapons, and several delicacies on plates spawned. Ovier's face started showing a slight hint of blush.

"Get! Them! In! Another! One!" He told through gritted teeth. "Tell me you have another."

Nert already half way through to pulling out another dark cube, "Yes, I got another. Just give me a moment to load them back in it."

Without the moment wasted everything that was getting back to its original shape and size was being shuffled into a new box. Naph astonished by the contraption put his intention to ask about it at the back of his mind.

There was something more important that he needed an answer to. One that preceded his recent puzzlement, yet an emotion of inquisition elicited within to know the recent one first.

As the comical situation of Nert's magical box spilling its content settled, the group returned to the ever-present silence. They hadn't moved an inch since escaping this up.

It did not sit well with Anaphol. His eyes shifted from one to the other. Turning at every face. Each of them had a dreaded look, none speaking. 'What is destructive indemnify?'

He looked into the distance west. The sun had risen up by a three more finger breadths from last he had seen. 'How does that work?' He mentally shook his wonder away, all because he spotted something.

A random flower floating down in his peripheral vision. He looked down at it spotting it. "Huh?"

Dykur followed his gaze. He did not show much surprise at a flower being as high as them.

"That's normal… Uh, it is probably just because of a recent storm-"

"I don't care why about that. Why are you guys silent on what is destructive indemnify crowned mind caestre?" His eyes snapped to look at Cryst.

Cryst, under intense stare by Naph, was unfazed. Ovier cut in, "That is just one way of categorizing something using any kind of lesio. Caestre or human. You guys in Tarna also have your own way right?"

"If that is supposed to be a category, it should be easily explainable then?" Naph's left eyebrow rose inquisitively. "Isn't that the whole point of a category?"

A palpable tension swiftly crawled.

Svnyo cut it down. "We should at the very least not be prejudiced." Taking a light breath, she continued, "Destructive and indemnify are both sub-categories of two separate categories of the type of cata a being can have." She stole a glimpse from Cryst. "I-"

"Didn't you also just were surprised?" Naph blurted.

"Yeah, yeah, I was." Nodding her head, "it was because of the cata capacity of the caestre. Crowned mind is a stage of cata capacity." Svnyo rolled around her tongue within her mouth.

Cryst finally spoke, "None of us alone let alone together could have defeated it." She looked into Naph's eyes. "That includes you too. Your lesio wasn't that strong."

Forcing an assumption of hers to be spoken, she said. "I..I think we were helped. But by who or what, there's no hint of that."

Naph pointed down to the flower. "What about that?!"

"No, that flower looks to be from another undiscovered island near Tarna." She did not let Naph ask how was it undiscovered. "It's undiscovered by the people of Tarna and Regda, whereas to the platinent of Jhorime we know of it."

"Platinent?"

"We are wasting time here. Let's move!" Cryst commanded.

"Hey! If you are not answering that then atleast tell me why was I able to know what and how Ovier is able to transfer us across the sky!" Naph blurted.

Cryst, Dykur and Ovier held a stunned look glaring at Anaphol. Nert swiftly broke it. "When did you get that knowledge?"

"When we were inside of the cloud, why?"

Cryst realizing, "We have to report about that caestre. Anaphol, how long were you wondering about how all of us were moving?" All of them zipping over clouds far below kilometres above them.

"I think since we entered the cloud?" Naph noticed it too. 'I didn't had a question regarding that before that.

"Hmm, that maybe one of the lesio that caestre has. Maybe one rooted in indemnify." Cryst caressed her chin.

Their speed increased faster and faster. Five massive clouds passed below in the same span. The sun hadn't even rose by any recognizable distance in the far west.

"What does that mean?" Naph had an inkling but to him it still felt further away from what magic truly he thought was.

"That you were infected by that murder of crows caestre." Litto provided.

This was further away from his hypothesis, but Naph did not know the word infected nor hypothesis.

"What's infected?" Naph asked normally. Bulwark zoomed around him in a circle, once again appearing in front of him. Anaphol's heart skipped a beat. He reoriented by doubling down on what he doesn't know.

Repeating his question, "what is the meaning of infected?"
