Azure psychic energy crackled around Aerodactyl's razor-sharp fangs as it vanished in a blur of speed, leaving only a fading afterimage. The ancient Sky King had used Agility to perfection.
Pain exploded through Venusaur's nervous system as those serrated teeth found their mark, sinking deep into the sovereign's flesh. Empowered by the Tough Claws ability, Aerodactyl's Psychic Fangs delivered a devastating 30% boost in raw power.
Unable to endure the agony, Venusaur thrashed wildly as sixteen massive vines erupted from its body, lashing out in a desperate counterattack that struck Aerodactyl repeatedly.
Calculating the cost, Aerodactyl quickly disengaged, unwilling to trade stamina in a battle of attrition with the garden's king.
Venusaur gasped heavily, using Synthesis to restore half its energy reserves, but the lingering pain continued to torment its nerves—a testament to the cruel efficiency of Aerodactyl's prehistoric weaponry.
Countless vines merged into a single, colossal green tendril. Venusaur wielded this living weapon like a massive whip, striking toward Aerodactyl with bone-crushing Power Whip.
"Fire Fang!" Red commanded.
Aerodactyl banked sharply to avoid the strike, then opened its maw wide. Flame-wreathed teeth bit clean through the vine, allowing the fire to spread downward along its length.
Seeing the danger, Venusaur immediately severed the burning section, then retaliated by launching a massive seed from the pistil on its back—Seed Bomb detonating against Aerodactyl's body with explosive force.
The blast left Aerodactyl breathing heavily. After all, the ancient predator's strengths lay in attack and speed; defense had never been its forte.
"Stone Edge!" Red called out.
Sharp stone blades materialized around Aerodactyl once more, launching toward Venusaur like guided missiles under the Sky King's precise control.
Venusaur countered with Razor Leaf, its massive fronds cutting through the stone projectiles, but when the dust settled, Aerodactyl had vanished from sight again.
"Wing Attack!"
Aerodactyl's massive wings spread wide, glowing with silver energy as they crashed into Venusaur's body. The super-effective damage was devastating, amplified by both the Tough Claws ability's 30% boost and the Flying-type's natural advantage over the Grass-type sovereign.
'Why have your attacks become so overwhelming?!' Venusaur roared in bewildered fury. Both had achieved Mega Evolution, yet the power gap between them seemed insurmountable.
'This creature must possess abilities I lack!' the ancient king reasoned. Through multiple Mega Evolutions over the centuries, Venusaur understood that abilities could change, but Aerodactyl's Pressure continued to drain its stamina even in its enhanced state.
Could a single Pokémon truly wield multiple abilities simultaneously?
'Because this is my master's power!' Aerodactyl declared with fierce pride, reveling in its enhanced capabilities.
"Venusaur, let's end this with one final clash," Red proposed, his voice carrying across the battlefield. "I know your stamina cannot sustain much more."
"Venu..." Venusaur hesitated, ancient pride warring with pragmatic wisdom. Finally, it chose to accept Red's challenge. Though it would lose some dignity before its subjects, the promise of witnessing a broader sky outweighed such concerns.
To reach that realm, Venusaur hoped to follow Red's path and become something greater. This was the sovereign's deepest wish—no battle-loving Pokémon could resist the call to grow stronger.
For Venusaur, only combat could truly ignite its passion for existence.
Drawing upon the fundamental forces of nature, Venusaur slammed its massive form against the earth. Countless thick, thorn-covered brambles erupted from underground, growing at visible speed until they formed a living cage that could blot out the sky itself.
Under Venusaur's command, the thorned prison rapidly engulfed Aerodactyl.
The Sky King immediately responded with Flamethrower, scorching flames burning against the brambles. But the fire proved ineffective—instead, it seemed to energize the thorns, which struck back with spark-laden fury.
The electrified brambles hammered Aerodactyl's body with such force that they drove the ancient predator to the ground, nearly preventing it from taking flight.
Frenzy Plant—Venusaur's ultimate trump card. But even this devastating technique couldn't defeat Aerodactyl, and the cost was severe: temporary paralysis that left the sovereign vulnerable.
This critical weakness sealed Aerodactyl's victory.
The Sky King showed no mercy. It beat its massive wings furiously to gain altitude, then folded them and plummeted in a devastating dive—Giga Impact at maximum power.
Using every ounce of its strength, Aerodactyl crashed into Venusaur's body. The impact was so tremendous that it tilted the massive sovereign's entire form, and in the blink of an eye, the king of the Mysterious Garden had fallen.
Seeing Venusaur's defeat, Red immediately threw a Poké Ball. The sphere struck the fallen king, absorbing it in a flash of red light.
Perhaps recognizing Red's overwhelming strength, Venusaur offered no resistance and was captured without struggle.
Though the watching Ivysaur longed to rescue their fallen sovereign, they remained frozen in place. Aerodactyl's serrated fangs were no idle threat, and none were foolish enough to believe they could succeed where their king had failed.
As for collective action—as the saying goes, "The nail that sticks out gets hammered." No Ivysaur was willing to sacrifice itself, even for their former ruler.
"Come out, Venusaur!" Red called, releasing his newly captured partner.
He immediately channeled Viridian Power to heal the sovereign's injuries. Venusaur's eyes closed in blissful relief as the pure energy—even more refined than natural power itself—flowed through its battered form.
As Venusaur resonated with the Viridian Force, the Mega Stone embedded in its pistil slipped free, falling into Red's waiting palm. Seeing this, the ancient king nuzzled Red's hand excitedly, urging him to keep the stone so it too could display the true power of Mega Evolution like Aerodactyl.
Unfortunately, Venusaur misunderstood the situation. Its Mega Evolution was already complete and flawless—Red's ability to stack multiple abilities was a unique power that transcended normal Mega Evolution entirely.
