Through his special connection with his Servant, Hikigaya Hachiman easily obtained information about the man standing silently in front of him since being summoned.
Although he didn't know the average stats of Holy Grail War Servants, this one seemed exceptionally competent.
Everything else looked normal, but why was the "Luck" stat in quotes with an "A+"? Could it change depending on circumstances?
After some thought, Hachiman decided to greet his Servant first. After all, from now until the end of the Holy Grail War, they would be companions in battle.

Looking at Karna's stern, unapproachable face, Hachiman nervously raised his hand to greet him.
"Good evening, Master…"
Karna slightly lifted his head and, with his all-seeing eyes, carefully observed Hachiman before nodding politely in response.

Seeing Karna remain silent, Hachiman tilted his head in confusion.

Hachiman quickly waved his hand. He had no intention of claiming the Holy Grail; participating was purely a means to return home. His only goal was to keep Sakura safe until the war ended. Fighting, if avoidable, should be avoided.
"Your purpose in participating isn't to obtain the Holy Grail?"
Karna's monotone voice asked.
"No, it's just because I can't get rid of this Command Seal, so I had no choice…
By the way, Karna, what is your reason for joining the Holy Grail War?"
Hachiman was curious. Both Servants and Masters needed strong desires to be chosen for the war. Why would this deadpan Servant want the Grail?
"No reason."
"Huh?"
"I was awakened by your voice while sleeping in the Throne of Heroes and came to this world just thinking it wouldn't hurt to appear once."

Hachiman twitched his mouth. Impressive… he had indeed summoned a Servant that matched his personality.

A few days later, Hachiman, Sakura, and Karna—now wearing modern clothes—appeared on the streets of Fuyuki City.
Since the Grail War would end and he would return to his world, Hachiman had liquidated all his assets before coming. At Sakura's request, he was taking her on a rare shopping trip.
Originally, Sakura just wanted to go with him alone, but Karna insisted on staying to protect them both.
Thus, Sakura, normally delighted, now held Hachiman's arm tightly, pulling him faster down the street in frustration.
But she clearly overestimated her short legs. Even at her fastest pace, Karna could easily match her distance with a single step.
Unable to escape, Sakura gave up and let Hachiman continue walking with her.
"So, Karna, have you noticed anything?"
During a stop while Sakura went to buy ice cream, Hachiman asked about Karna's surveillance.
Of course, he wouldn't recklessly walk the streets during the Grail War and become a target for other participants. The shopping trip was mainly to make up for lost time with Sakura, but Hachiman also hoped to use Karna to track down and eliminate Matou Zouken.
"I'm sorry, Master. Within my monitoring range, I haven't detected the sort of 'insect' you described…"
Karna's expressionless face shook his head.
"I see…"
Hachiman sighed in disappointment. His plan to use Karna to take down the old man during the Grail War had failed.
"Can't help but respect Fuyuki City's local 'boss,' huh?"
Even after landing and immediately rushing to the Matou residence with Karna, he came up empty-handed. Hachiman had to admit Zouken's danger awareness was impressive.
"Big brother…"
Sakura's voice snapped him out of his thoughts. Looking down, he saw her holding two strawberry and one vanilla ice cream.
"This is for you."
Handing Hachiman one strawberry ice cream, she then approached Karna and held up the vanilla ice cream.
"...."
Karna silently looked at the ice cream before taking it.
"Thank you."
"No need to thank me; it's just a side thing, hmph!"
Clearly still upset that Karna had interrupted her alone time with Hachiman, Sakura stuck out her tongue at him and returned to Hachiman's side, hugging his arm.
"Since Sakura bought the ice cream, Karna, you should eat it too."
Watching Karna scrutinize his ice cream, Hachiman took a bite of his own, demonstrating. The coolness and strawberry fragrance spread in his mouth.
Following his example, Karna hesitated a moment, then took a small bite of his ice cream.
"How is it?"
"Delicious!"
Karna nodded in satisfaction, then stuffed the remaining ice cream into his mouth all at once.
