No one knew where Xie Xie and the others had been teleported when the map shrunk.
Gu You didn't have time to worry about that now. Right in front of him, another seven or eight students had appeared.
"Form up!" The voice came from a tall, slender girl. She had long, wavy auburn hair cascading down her back, fair skin, large eyes, and a beautiful face. Her aura was cold and aloof, clearly not welcoming strangers.
"Let's do this! Support me!" Wu Siduo called softly, and four purple soul rings rose beneath her feet.
Her body twisted mid-air like it had no bones, becoming ghostly and translucent in an instant.
A dark aura surrounded her, though it was different from the oppressive darkness of Undying Xu Yucheng. Hers was lighter—eerie, but strangely elegant.
Gu You reached out with one hand, and her blurry figure exploded like glass, as if she'd been crushed. Everyone thought Wu Siduo had been defeated then and there.
But at that very moment, a massive figure burst from the space behind Gu You.
Nether White Tiger!
A self-fusion technique using twin martial souls!
Interesting. Gu You raised an eyebrow slightly. The creature looked like a white tiger, but something was off—it didn't appear fully formed. Its fur shimmered like crystal, not quite white, just… unnatural. Still, what could a little tiger cub possibly do against a dragon?
The Nether White Tiger gathered energy in its mouth, and in the blink of an eye, fired it straight at Gu You.
Gu You's second soul ring lit up. A streak of purple light shot from his eyes—a tangible wave of spiritual force!
The white tiger's energy blast was shattered instantly. Wu Siduo screamed, clutching her head as a splitting pain tore through her mind. Her body arched involuntarily, then dissolved into light and disappeared.
The rest of the soul masters around them swallowed hard.
So much for teamwork. Against an opponent like this, what use was it?
No one else dared to fight. The victor was clear.
It was Gu You.
One by one, the others forfeited. Then the world began to twist and distort. A beam of light fell on Gu You, and everything went dark.
No one knew how much time had passed before his awareness returned. When his eyes opened again, everything was clear. The pod hatch opened—he had returned to the starting room.
As Gu You stepped out, nearly a hundred pairs of eyes turned to him.
Many of those gazes were complicated.
Yang Nianxia, broad-shouldered and imposing, stared at Gu You in fear. He'd seen everything on the screens—after all, he'd been the first to get eliminated. It was terrifying. Was this really a thirteen-year-old soul master?
Luo Guixing was the calmest. Sitting on the floor not far away, knees hugged to his chest, he seemed deep in thought.
Yuetian sat nearby, eyes closed in meditation. With his Earth Dragon King martial soul, it was only a matter of time before he became a Soul Douluo—or even a Titled Douluo.
His feelings for the orphanage were tied only to Shen Yue. He had suffered too much as a child—no one understood what that was like. Even if he talked about it, people would just laugh.
Zheng Yiran, the girl with the Emerald Snake, now looked at Gu You with a gleam of interest in her eyes.
Xu Yucheng's face was pale. He swore to never point that scythe at someone again.
Wu Siduo's face was even worse. Her eyes were locked on Gu You, and her aura was visibly unstable.
The massive hall, filled with over a hundred students, fell completely silent because of Gu You's return. Strangely silent.
Shen Yi approached him.
"You're the first-place winner. Will you take the role of class leader?"
"I want to, but I don't have the time. Sometimes even a single task takes me a day or two. Class leader is a position that requires someone with a more flexible schedule," Gu You replied, placing a hand on his chest.
"You have the right to nominate someone else. Do you have a candidate?"
Gu You turned to glance behind him. "Let Tang Wulin have it. He has some leadership potential."
The moment he said this, the room exploded in chatter.
They could accept Gu You as class leader—but Tang Wulin? On what basis?
Gu You turned to face them. "Look, I know some of you don't agree, but this position needs someone who's prepared. Be honest—do any of you have enough time in your day to even train properly?"
Everyone shook their heads.
"Exactly. If we don't even have time to cultivate, why bother being class leader and wasting more time? You talk about earning inner court points, but do you think it's that easy to get in? The success rate's only in the teens, maybe twenty percent at best. With so little time to train, taking on this role would just mean more pressure."
Shen Yi nodded. "Very well. Since class leader has been decided and Tang Wulin has no objection—who wants to run for vice leader?"
"I do!"
"Me too!"
Gu Yue and Wu Siduo raised their hands simultaneously.
Shen Yi smiled. "Alright then. It's decided. For Year One Class One: Class Leader—Tang Wulin. Vice Leaders—Gu Yue and Wu Siduo."
At that moment, Gu Yue and the other top students began stepping forward to apply for other class officer roles.
"Those not applying for positions may leave. That's it for this morning's class," Shen Yi announced.
And with that, the matter was finally settled.
Gu You glanced toward the corner where Wu Zhangkong stood. He sent a quiet, questioning look—but Wu Zhangkong gave no response. It was like he didn't even know Gu You.
What's going on with Teacher Wu? Since coming to Shrek, he hadn't spoken to Gu You once.
Could it be because of Tang Wulin?
Gu You shook his head. He understood Wu Zhangkong's personality. Maybe he was simply dealing with something of his own.
He didn't go talk to Yuetian either. There would be time for that later. No rush. One way or another, Yuetian had secrets. After all, he wasn't a character who existed in the original story.
Instead, Gu You walked up to the quiet and solitary Tang Wulin, crouching beside him.
"What do you need for the next seal?"
"The materials for the third seal are relatively easy. I can gather them myself—you don't need to worry. But the fourth one… that's when I'll need your help. I'll need four specific spirit ingredients: the Millennium Strange Velvet Sky Chrysanthemum, the Millennium Pine Ganoderma, the Millennium Vitality Fruit, and the Millennium Purple Cloud Wood. Once you have them all, I'll break through the seal and you can absorb it."
Each time a seal was close to breaking, the required ingredients would appear in Tang Wulin's mind.
"What about the other seals after that?" Gu You asked, wondering if he could gather everything all at once.
Tang Wulin shook his head. "The rest…"
