"Why didn't you tell me earlier? I was planning to find a few extra pieces for you, but it turns out there really were only two left. I turned the entire Shrek Blacksmith Association upside down!" Feng Wuyu complained, shooting a glance at Gu You.
Gu You couldn't help feeling like Feng Wuyu was looking at him the way one would look at a spoiled brat. But there was no way he believed his words. Only two pieces of Starfall Iron in the entire Shrek Blacksmith Association headquarters? Who was he trying to fool?
If even Shrek's own blacksmith headquarters didn't have the ore, then it might as well not exist in the world.
If that was really the current availability, then Starfall Iron was rarer than rare. Because of its use in military equipment, the Federation harvested large quantities of it every year. In fact, the need for this particular ore had prompted the government to establish a space transportation research agency. They even built special small spacecraft to collect the ore from the depths of space. Though the yield was still limited annually, it was enough to meet demand.
The Federation heavily restricted its appearance in the civilian market—after all, it was vital to national defense.
"If you really plan to focus on forging, I'll submit a request and get you two months off from the academy," Feng Wuyu said as he turned to leave—he still had many other matters to handle.
Gu You nodded and added, "Also, if you've got time, help me find four spirit herbs."
"What kind of herbs?" Feng Wuyu was starting to realize how little he knew about Gu You. The once prideful, sharp-tongued boy now used spirit herbs in forging, carefully considered the construction of his battle armor, and even insisted on adding rare minerals like Starfall Iron.
"Millennium Strange Velvet Sky Chrysanthemum…" Gu You listed them one by one.
Feng Wuyu furrowed his brows when he heard the names. The other three herbs weren't too much of a problem, but the Strange Velvet Sky Chrysanthemum… that one was tricky. There were only two ways to get it: through auction or via Tang Sect contribution points. As a member of the Tang Sect, he could trade for one. But sect rules were strict—only Tang Sect members were allowed to exchange contribution-based goods. Gu You clearly had no connection with the sect. That left only the auction route.
And even that wouldn't be easy. The Millennium Strange Velvet Sky Chrysanthemum had practically gone extinct. Finding one would take serious luck.
"Trouble?" Gu You asked, noticing his hesitation.
"A bit, but not much. I can get it done in two months. You just focus on forging your battle armor. Once it's done, I'll get an eighth-rank soul tool array designer to help inscribe the armor arrays," Feng Wuyu promised with a smile.
No matter how tough things got, Gu You couldn't be allowed to suffer. Not just Feng Wuyu—Shrek's inner leadership, and even powers across the continent, had pinned high hopes on Gu You. He had already reached the pinnacle of what his age group could achieve. No Limit Douluo could confidently say they could kill him.
Put simply, if Gu You wanted to, he could apply to the ruling party of the Federation directly. No matter how rare something was, as long as it existed on Douluo Continent—he could get it.
Still, why did all four of these herbs seem like they were meant for that kind of use?
Millennium Strange Velvet Sky Chrysanthemum: strengthens limbs, boosts physical power.
Millennium Pine Ganoderma (aka Red Ganoderma): mild in nature, balances and nourishes internal organs. While not the most powerful of spiritual fungi, it's the most balanced and harmonizing—able to soften even the harshest medicinal effects, making them more easily absorbed. Rare and valuable.
Millennium Vitality Fruit: symbolizes endless vitality. Grows only in barren deserts and is considered the most dazzling treasure of the sands. If a traveler gets lost in the desert, one fruit can sustain them for ten days. It also provides a temporary burst in strength. A true miracle of nature—how could such a life-filled fruit grow in such a dead place?
Millennium Purple Cloud Wood: not technically a herb, but a spiritual wood—harder than rare metals. Highly toxic. Once ingested, its metallic toxins can be deadly to normal people. It's also incredibly hard to consume. But to soul masters, it's priceless. Once fused and refined through soul power, it strengthens skin elasticity and resilience. Its poison undergoes a mystical transformation that enhances the body's toughness.
Individually, these didn't raise suspicion. But together? This was one massive tonic set.
Feng Wuyu looked at Gu You with a strange expression.
"Tell me… did you, uh, get involved in something recently?"
Gu You blinked. "Old lunatic, what's with the weird question? What would I be involved in?"
Feng Wuyu gave an awkward cough and let it go.
Gu You watched him leave, still confused. What was that about?
Forget it. Focus on the task at hand.
His battle armor was almost completely melted. Even the highest-grade soul circuits couldn't withstand the furnace's temperature, which exceeded 50,000 degrees Celsius—they'd crumble under the heat.
The forge rose. Gu You could feel the terrifying heat radiating from it.
This was the life of a blacksmith—day after day with fire and hammer.
A flicker of clarity shone in Gu You's eyes as he stabilized the molten armor, letting it cool into a large, spirit-refined mixed metal. Then he added one more item—Life Core Ore.
While waiting for it to finish burning, he didn't sit idle.
Gu You retrieved a piece of self-developed alloy and placed it aside. Then he took out several raw ores and placed the Starfall Iron with them, preparing for a triple fusion forging.
If he succeeded, the result would be a top-tier secret formula alloy—so rare that even if someone obtained the recipe, they likely wouldn't have the materials to replicate it. These ores were just too scarce.
Even acquiring the formula could be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for most.
Gu You focused.
Time to begin forging.
He laid out the three ores neatly on the forging table, then activated the furnace's external flame to heat them until they reached forging temperature. Then he placed them back on the anvil.
His hands suddenly moved—elegant and fluid, like he was playing a piano...
