Because of his role in aiding the Holy Spirit Cult in harming the world, Qiangu Dongfeng was deemed an evil force by the "Good" Plane's Will, Tang Hao himself, and was denied resurrection.
But Gu You couldn't deny that Qiangu Dongfeng's later decision to destroy Shrek City was sheer stupidity.
He had pursued Leng Yaozhu for many years, but she had always been devoted to Yun Ming. This led him to harbor deep resentment not only toward Yun Ming but toward the entire Shrek Academy.
Qiangu Dongfeng was the very definition of a scheming ambitionist. His goal had always been to shape the Spirit Pagoda into a force akin to the Spirit Hall of twenty thousand years ago—a power that could control the entire Federation.
To cripple Tang Sect and Shrek Academy, he secretly collaborated with the Holy Spirit Cult, helping them acquire two God-killing Fixed Soul Ammunition Shells—making him the primary accomplice in the catastrophe that nearly annihilated both factions.
Later, upon learning that Shrek Academy was being rebuilt, he immediately sent agents to spy and sabotage, but they returned empty-handed. During the reconstruction, he hosted a martial arts tournament for Gu Yuena in a sham matchmaking event to distract public attention, but this backfired when disguised members of the Shrek Seven Devils—including A Ruheng and Sima Jinchi—entered and made their defiance known.
After failing to hinder Shrek's return, he founded Spirit Academy and scheduled its enrollment to directly compete with Shrek's reopening. The attempt to siphon students largely failed.
Still refusing to give up, he sent mecha warriors into Shrek airspace in provocation, and even led a team of Spirit Pagoda elites himself to challenge the academy. In the final seven-on-seven team battle, he was stunned to discover Shrek had five Limit Douluo and withdrew in frustration.
Later, he tried to tempt the War God Temple's chief, Hanhai Douluo Chen Xinjie, with lavish resources to trick Long Yeyue. He lied that the third God-killing Shell, "Eternal Heaven," was hidden in the War God Temple's eighteenth level of hell, hoping to lure Tang Wulin and others there and kill them.
But after learning the full story and reconciling with Long Yeyue, Chen Xinjie repented and revealed the true location of Eternal Heaven to Shrek and the Tang Sect. The merciless Douluo Cao Dezhi and passionate Douluo Zang Xin recovered it and brought it to the Spirit Pagoda in a show of power—shattering Qiangu Dongfeng's plans yet again.
Eventually, after a string of self-destructive decisions, he was crippled by Tang Wulin—losing his left arm and any hope of ever becoming a god.
Yet even then, his downfall didn't end. In the far north, during the war against abyssal creatures and the Holy Spirit Cult, he sowed discord between the factions and incited General Dong Zi'an to abandon his post, which led to devastating losses for the Western Legion. This earned him impeachment, and he was forced to step down as Spirit Pagoda Master, succeeded by Gu Yuena.
In the end, he found some clarity. For the sake of humanity's survival, he chose to die with dignity.
'He did achieve some good things, and he certainly committed great wrongs.'
Gu You couldn't make up his mind about Qiangu Dongfeng. 'Ambition and vision are fine things, but if you don't achieve them through your own merit, you're nothing but mud waiting to be washed away.'
'I'm no saint,' Gu You admitted inwardly, 'but I couldn't bring myself to commit such unforgivable crimes. Is it really worth it—destroying everything for the sake of ambition?'
'He stood at the pinnacle of the continent. He could have had it all.'
'Who truly wins in the end? All glory fades into clouds and dust…'
"You came here for what?" Leng Yaozhu asked coldly.
Qiangu Dongfeng ignored her and walked straight up to Gu You. "Child, I'm sorry. Due to certain special circumstances, the Spirit Pagoda will temporarily close to the public. We deeply regret the inconvenience. You may name any condition you want."
'Special circumstances?'
Gu You naturally didn't believe that excuse. 'You just don't want me to absorb more soul spirits. Why not just say so plainly?'
"Any condition?"
"Of course," Qiangu Dongfeng said calmly.
"Then I want the stone monument that was with the Mandala Snake—the one it called important," Gu You said firmly.
Le Zhengyu had never seen someone talk to such a high-ranking figure so casually. He was shocked that Gu You could speak so calmly with a figure like Qiangu Dongfeng.
After all, he knew who this man was—a peak-level powerhouse of the continent, titled Transmission.
A Four-Word Battle Armor Master. A half-god realm expert!
Wielder of the legendary Coiling Dragon Staff, master of the Ninefold Unyielding Staff Techniques that once shook the world.
The current Pagoda Master of the Spirit Pagoda. Core of the Qiangu Clan.
It was said that the Qiangu Clan housed three Limit Douluo, making it one of the most powerful forces in the world today.
"Who is he?" Xie Xie whispered.
"Transmission Douluo. A Four-Word Battle Armor Master," Le Zhengyu replied.
"Another one? That's two today!" Xie Xie exclaimed under his breath, his eyes wide.
The others were also shocked, though they quickly composed themselves.
Qiangu Dongfeng frowned. That stone's value was incredibly high.
"What? Don't want to give it up?" Gu You chuckled.
"Did your teacher never teach you to respect your elders?" Qiangu Dongfeng asked coldly.
Gu You glanced at Leng Yaozhu, who was glaring at Qiangu Dongfeng with murderous intent.
"No. My teacher taught me to respect the honest, not the deceitful."
A surge of pressure rippled out from Qiangu Dongfeng.
Gu You simply hummed a tune, looking relaxed. 'I'm not who I used to be. I have the strength to crush anything in my way now.'
"Then allow me to teach you on her behalf," Qiangu Dongfeng sneered.
"You dare!" A mighty surge of red soul power blasted away Qiangu Dongfeng's pressure.
"You…" Qiangu Dongfeng turned, seething, toward Leng Yaozhu.
"If you dare lay a finger on him, then today we'll fight to the death," Leng Yaozhu declared with icy resolve.
"Master! You're the best." Gu You beamed. 'Finally, this teacher's coming in handy!'
Master?
Yuanen Yehui and the others exchanged confused looks between Gu Yue and Gu You.
'Wait, what's going on here? Gu Yue calls Leng Yaozhu Master, and so does Gu You?'
Even Gu Yue looked dazed. 'Why didn't Master ever tell me Gu You was also her disciple?! This is getting messier and messier…'
Two Limit Douluo now stood in confrontation, their auras flooding the entire room. The surrounding research instruments began to spark and crackle.
The staff didn't even dare to breathe loudly. One move from a Limit Douluo could wipe them out.
"You stand with him? With this outsider?" Qiangu Dongfeng's voice grew darker.
"What if he's an outsider? What if he's from the Spirit Pagoda? All I know is—he's my disciple. A teacher protecting her disciple is the most righteous thing in the world!" Leng Yaozhu's presence surged to terrifying levels.
