----------------------------------------------------------
Mordred ran out of the Divine Tower's hall, her gaze fixed on the man confronting Goetia. He was clad in golden armor, and on his shoulders, two ravens seemed to perch: one golden, the other black. These were the two ravens Odin raised, and they also represented the two blessings Asher had once received. Now, fully integrated with Odin, they were indistinguishable, becoming the Golden Crow and the Raven.
"Father!" Mordred cried out anxiously, about to rush forward, but Asher turned his head and stopped her.
"Don't come any closer!"
Mordred froze, and Merlin held her shoulder. "Listen to him," Merlin said, his gaze deep as he looked at the young man outside the Divine Tower. "Stand here and wait, watch how your father fights."
Mordred thoughtfully watched Asher, who had picked up Excalibur, still somewhat bewildered.
"That's why I said, just stay here and watch," Merlin said.
"Servant attacks won't work on him. You'd only distract King Arthur even if you went."
"What about you?" Mordred asked.
"You... seem to be your main body now?" Ritsuka had also appeared outside the Divine Tower at some point, and couldn't help but ask after hearing their conversation.
Merlin nodded slightly, smiling: "The role I play is much bigger than you imagine."
"Just standing here watching?" Mordred asked.
"No, that's just a facade," Merlin said. But clearly, no one believed Merlin's words; even Ritsuka merely offered a wry smile. Frankly, she really couldn't see what use Merlin was. Right now, only Senpai was stopping that entity.
"So why can't we go over there yet?" Ishtar, riding her Celestial Boat, floated in mid-air, asking Merlin below.
"You should take a closer look," Merlin said, his gaze deep as he looked at Goetia.
"Even if you say to look closely, that guy is just lying on the groundļæ½"
Mordred spoke while looking at Goetia, until she saw him slowly stand up from the floor and stretch his limbs as if completely unharmed. She suddenly froze. After a long pause, she said incredulously, "How is that possible... he can still stand after taking that much damage?"
"Don't underestimate him," Merlin said softly. "After all, he's the one who tried to incinerate human history."
"As expected of a living god, to have survived until now by relying on a human body is unexpected," Goetia pounded his shoulders, shaking off the blood from his hands. "But this is the end."
His tone remained calm throughout, as if he had completely composed himself. As he raised his finger, a band of light in the sky was kneaded into a light sphere and crashed towards Asher.
Asher raised Excalibur, unleashing its power. A beam of light shot towards the sky, sending brilliant golden light scattering, but it was immediately followed by a second beam of light from above. In the previous battle, Asher had gained the upper hand from the start by relying on Merlin's illusions. Coupled with Goetia's surprise at someone causing him substantial damage, he had been on the defensive. But now, the Demon God King had completely regained his composure. After gauging Asher's approximate strength, even though he wasn't at his peak, this clash clearly revealed the difference in power.
Although he was mentally prepared, Asher didn't expect Goetia to possess such terrifying power even in his injured state. When Excalibur was unleashed, he almost couldn't block Goetia's attack. Under the overwhelming pressure, his joints made faint cracking sounds, as if they would break at any moment.
Golden light enveloped the scene from above, illuminating Goetia's emotionless face. The Beast of Compassion stared at Asher with cold eyes, "A crippled divine body, yet you presume to defeat me with mere fists?"
Asher gritted his teeth, his gaze fixed on something
behind Goetia, his eyes locking onto a specific spot.
Merlin, not far away, gave him a knowing look.
"The game is over!" Goetia flung Asher backward, sending him dozens of meters away. A second and even third golden light sphere descended from the sky.
"Father!"
The Lance of the Forefront flew from a distance with Mordred's roar. Asher raised his hand and caught the lance, shouting, "Round Table Conference!"
Mana began to condense here, beautiful golden light
effects shimmering in the air. The Lance of the Forefront aimed at the light sphere in the sky.
"Holy Lance, Anchor!"
With the thirteen restraints released, a massive beam of light roared towards the descending light sphere, the intense collision blinding people. Almost everyone who looked up could see the pillar of light reaching the sky, as if it enveloped the entire city. But within that dazzling golden light, Goetia raised his hand again. The band of light was once more kneaded into a light sphere and smashed down. Goetia's gaze was utterly cold, like a cat
toying with a mouse.
"How many more times can you block?"
He swung down the light sphere again, each time accompanied by Excalibur's release, the second and even third anchoring of the Holy Lance. Asher didn't know how many times he had swung the Holy Lance and Holy Sword, but Goetia remained calm, continuously swinging down light spheres. Each exchange of blows was accompanied by terrifying sounds.
Finally, as the light sphere disappeared, Asher released his weapons.
"Is it too early to relax now?" The next instant, Goetia appeared before Asher, concisely raising his knee and striking Asher's face. His brain instantly felt swollen. Asher groaned, retreating violently, coughing up blood, his internal organs aching severely, but his gaze remained fixed on Goetia. No, to be precise, he wasn't staring at Goetia, but at something behind him.
Goetia rushed forward again, kicking Asher's
sword-wielding right hand. Excalibur slipped from Asher's right hand and flew away, but he immediately thrust the Lance of the Forefront at Goetia. Goetia sharply turned his head, narrowly dodging the attack, almost grazing the lance's tip.
"The hero's last-minute save act should end now!" Goetia raised his hand, several bands of light were kneaded together, and a scorching light formed a massive sphere in mid-air. He retreated, swung his hand, and hurled the light sphere at Asher.
Bang!
Accompanied by a violent impact, screams came from afar, but those who wanted to assist Asher were stopped by Merlin.
"Give up, you'll be useless even if you go," Merlin said. "I told you, this isn't a battle you can interfere with."
"Are you telling me to just stand here and wait?!"
Mordred turned and glared at Merlin, who was holding her.
"Look closely again," Merlin said slowly.
Mordred looked back into the distance, her expression suddenly freezing. Asher's body was glowing. A brilliant light spread from his body. Goetia's gaze also froze on Asher, his eyes filled with disbelief. A light sphere no less powerful than Excalibur's had no effect on Asher!
Avalon, the sheath of Excalibur, had been buried within Asher's body by Morgan during the final battle with Vortigern. With the sheath unfolded, even Gilgamesh's Noble Phantasm, Ea, could not produce any effect within the sheath's protected range. The ability that Asher had hidden until now was finally unleashed.
"Unexpected things just keep coming, one after another," Goetia stared intently at Asher. "Bring out whatever else you have."
"No, it's no longer necessary," Asher gasped for air, his gaze fixed on the oppressive man. There were several wounds on his body as well, left from the recent attack.
"Giving up?" Goetia looked at him with an indifferent expression.
"No," Asher shook his head, spitting out a bloody tooth. "Look behind you."
"Playing such childish games, how boring," Goetia laughed and shook his head. "Today, I want to see how many times your Noble Phantasm can defend against such attacks!" With that, he raised his hand again, but at that moment, a chill suddenly ran down his back. Goetia immediately reacted, sharply turning his head to look.
At that moment, Goetia finally realized. Asher's purpose in fighting him from the very beginning wasn't to defeat him, but to inflict damage on him while covering the infiltration of this person, leaving him no time to pay attention to his surroundings!
A man clad in black armor stood silently behind Goetia at some unknown point, his imposing figure seemingly emanating a dark aura. He held a sword in one hand and a shield in the other, radiating an oppressive presence.
"The name of Grand is not what I seek. The proof of the strongest merely needs to be entrusted to this single strike."
"The evening bell has tolled for thee."
Clang
Clang
Clang!
A distant, ancient bell seemed to toll. The Grand Assassin, Old Man of the Mountain, raised the seemingly ordinary greatsword in his hand. "That shall be the end of thy destiny."
Behind the Old Man of the Mountain, pink petals drifted with the wind. The illusion dispelled at this moment.
Merlin, who had also been covering the Old Man of the Mountain's approach, turned and smiled at everyone: "See, I told you earlier, my role is quite significant."
