The question caused Javi to pause briefly.
"I've already spoken to her."
"And?"
Javi smiled.
"She understands."
Lukas studied his father's face for a few seconds.
"Are you guys going to be alright?"
"We'll be fine."
The answer came immediately.
There wasn't even a hint of uncertainty in his voice.
"We're adults, Lukas. We knew this situation was coming eventually. You were never going to stay in Frankfurt forever."
Lukas nodded slowly.
"I know."
"And besides," Javi continued, "it's not like Manchester is on another planet. There are flights."
"Fair point."
"If I can survive your football schedule, I can survive a few plane rides."
That earned a laugh from Lukas.
"Good to know."
"Trust me. Worry about your own life. I've got mine under control."
Lukas smiled and finally relaxed.
If Javi wasn't worried, then there wasn't much point in him worrying either.
At that exact moment, another door opened.
João stumbled out of his room looking half asleep.
