Chapter 62 - Rewards and Emergence of the Goblin

A day after the battle with Koragg…

The atmosphere in Zayne's base was calm, but the silence carried a sense of accomplishment and quiet reflection. The large holographic display in front of him hummed softly, filled with glowing runes and streams of cosmic data. The grid's familiar tone soon echoed in the room, clear and resonant.

Zayne smiled faintly beneath the soft blue glow of the panel. "A-, huh? Guess that's fair… can't really argue since I let him escape."

He leaned back on his seat, arms crossed. The faint hum of the console filled the silence. "Still," he muttered to himself, "less casualties, no destruction… not bad for a first encounter with a sorcerer-type."

The grid chimed again as another set of holograms appeared.

A faint rush of energy swept through him as his body glowed with a soft golden aura. The sheer density of power coursing through his veins made the air hum. The walls trembled slightly before his internal systems stabilized.

Zayne exhaled sharply, gripping the edge of the table. "Whoa… this power…" He clenched his fists, feeling the difference. His strength—his aura—everything was sharper, denser, and more refined.

A grin tugged at his lips. "So this is what city-level power feels like. Guess I just entered the next league. This feeling of becoming powerful steadily is awesome."

The grid spoke again, interrupting his train of thought.

[NOTIFICATION]

At Level 10, Master's Primary Suit will undergo Omni-Upgrade.

A new Omni-Ranger Form will be unlocked.

Zayne chuckled softly, rubbing the back of his neck. "Heh. Well, that gives me something to look forward to." His tone, however, slowly turned reflective. "But…"

He turned toward the large view screen that displayed multiple feeds — Earth's regions, dimensional coordinates, and unknown cosmic anomalies. His eyes darkened slightly.

"There is still another invasion in the next 2 months. These threats aren't slowing down," he muttered quietly. "And if that's the case… then I don't get to either."

He stood from his chair, walked toward the central platform, and raised his palm toward the shimmering vortex of energy swirling above it. With a gesture, a silver beam of light shot into the air, forming a stable circular rift that pulsated faintly — a permanent portal to the Mystic Realm.

"There," he said with quiet satisfaction. "That should make things easier next time."

Opening the Grid Shop, he scrolled through the list of items with practiced eyes. His gaze sharpened as he selected a few entries.

The equipment shimmered into existence before him, each piece glowing faintly as it synchronized with his Omni-Grid signature.

Zayne smiled faintly, watching everything settle. "These things would be useful for recruits and employees mostly".

He stood silently for a moment, staring at the portal one last time. His reflection stared back at him through the glow — calm but determined.

"I've been given this power…" he muttered softly, eyes narrowing slightly, "…and I'll take responsibility for it. Whatever this world faces, I'll make sure it survives."

PRESENT DAY — NEW YORK CITY

The morning sun glistened against the towering skyscrapers of Manhattan. Traffic blared, people hurried across the streets, and the world seemed alive with its usual rhythm. But beneath the normal bustle, chaos stirred.

Police sirens wailed across the district as multiple vehicles chased a black armored van that tore through the highway at reckless speed. Officers shouted into their radios as the van weaved dangerously between cars.

"Dispatch! Suspects have stolen a Class-A chemical compound — repeat, Class-A! Possible biohazard!"

The radio crackled again as the commanding officer replied, "All units, proceed with caution! Do NOT fire on the chemical container!"

Up above, swinging between skyscrapers, a familiar red figure flipped effortlessly through the air.

"Man, I swear, some people just can't resist stealing things labeled 'Highly Dangerous'!" Spider-Man quipped, landing perfectly on a streetlight before launching himself forward again.

Across the city, another figure was also in motion — elegant, agile, and carrying a distinct pink-and-white aesthetic.

"Guess I'm not the only one who got the alert," Spider-Gwen muttered, her mask shifting slightly as she accelerated through the air. "Let's make it quick before someone blows up the block."

The armored van turned a sharp corner, tires screeching violently. Suddenly, twin web-lines shot out from both directions — one red, one white — latching onto the van simultaneously.

THWIP!THWIP!

With synchronized precision, both spiders yanked backward, slamming the van to a stop as it skidded violently across the pavement. The doors burst open as heavily armed men jumped out, wielding stolen Oscorp tech rifles.

Spider-Man dropped down first, hands raised playfully. "Hey guys, quick question — do you offer insurance on stolen property, or should I start a donation page for your bail?"

"Shut up!" one of the robbers yelled, opening fire. Energy blasts shredded the air.

Gwen landed beside Peter, flipping her web-shooters into position. "You talk too much, you know that?"

"Occupational hazard!"

The fight began fast and chaotic — Spider-Man dodged between plasma bolts, using web-bullets to disarm three gunmen in seconds, before flipping backward and launching a double web-kick that sent two others flying. Gwen countered an energy grenade by catching it midair, webbing it, and throwing it back into the van — disabling it completely.

"Boom," she muttered, dusting her hands.

Peter landed beside her, mock clapping. "Ten out of ten — high five. Great teamwork and again, you were awesome with those movements."

Gwen just stared at him and reluctantly high-fived him.

"Appreciate the compliment, bug boy."

Police sirens arrived seconds later. Officers stepped out, guns lowered slightly. "Good work, you two!" one officer shouted. "We'll take it from here."

Surprisingly enough, they were not threatened by the police. This was because heroes like Iron Man and the Rangers have been guarding this city against threats almost every day, some on a small scale, while others on a large scale. Having new ones is not surprising to them, but more beneficial. Well, if you exclude JJ.

Spider-Man waved casually. "All yours, officers. Make sure they don't drop the bio-thingy, yeah? I really like living."

As both heroes prepared to leave, their instincts suddenly screamed.

Spider-Sense!

Their bodies moved on reflex — twisting and leaping in opposite directions as two glowing golden bombs exploded violently where they had stood moments before.

BOOM!BOOM!

The shockwaves tore through nearby cars, shattering windows and throwing both spiders backward into the side of a building. Peter coughed, shaking his head. "Okay… not a fan of surprise fireworks."

Gwen groaned, flipping to her feet. "You okay?"

"Define okay," Peter replied, wincing.

Before either could recover fully, a low, sinister chuckle echoed through the smoke.

"Hehehe… I thought only cockroaches were hard to kill. But now I know… spiders are even more tenacious."

The voice sent chills down their spines. Both looked up — and froze.

Emerging from the smoke was a hulking green figure, easily the size of the Hulk. Jagged armor shimmered with metallic hues, a long reptilian tail slithered behind, and in his clawed hands rested golden, rune-inscribed bombs. His glowing green eyes gleamed with twisted delight as he floated above on a sleek, golden hoverboard.

Both spiders tensed immediately. Their spider-sense screamed louder than ever before.

Peter swallowed hard. "…You're kidding me."

Gwen's voice was low and cautious. "That… that thing's scary. I feel like I would die if it attacks."

The creature grinned, teeth sharp and gleaming.

Peter mustered his courage. "Who—who are you?"

The creature tilted his head, voice dripping with madness.

"Hehehehe… I am Green Goblin."

He leaned forward, his monstrous grin widening.

"Your doom."

The air crackled with tension, and both spiders took a step back, adrenaline spiking.

The sound of the Goblin's laughter echoed through the ruined streets — a chilling prelude to the chaos that was about to descend upon New York once again.
