Yang Yun's heart was cold and indifferent. It hadn't needed to come to this. If these people had simply taken his gratitude at face value and obediently become the useful dogs he needed, things wouldn't have ended like this. But clearly, they weren't interested in being obedient.
In that case—
Those who refuse to listen, let them all die.
Yang Yun cast a glance at Zhao Wuji lying on the ground.
Sure enough, Zhao Wuji made for a reliable puppet.
Anyone disobedient—he'd just kill them all.
The demonic aura had surged moments ago. A few casualties in Tianxing Sect? That was perfectly reasonable. Those who were more cooperative could be turned into his puppets with the right methods.
From this moment on—
Tianxing Sect was no longer the Tianxing Sect. It would become his foothold among the human race.
Yang Yun stared coldly at the members of Tianxing Sect. He had already laid things out clearly, but not a single person stepped aside. They all watched him with guarded eyes, clearly ready to strike at any moment.
Yang Yun sneered.
So be it. Saving these people had been a waste. In that case, may as well slaughter them all.
Expressionless, he took two steps back. Instantly, the black-clad figures behind him launched their assault.
Yang Yun stood back, watching without emotion.
Yun Jin blocked one attack.
But it was clear—
That sword wouldn't hold against a second, let alone a third.
This time—
No one could stop his people from killing.
Yang Yun was already pondering how to explain things when the Demon-Slaying Alliance arrived.
These people? Obviously slaughtered by the demons.
And as for him—he had tried to come to the rescue, but arrived too late. Only Zhao Wuji and a few others had been saved.
When the time came—
The dead would have no voice. Only the living would decide the truth.
Yun Jin had tried to expose his identity in front of everyone.
Yang Yun still didn't know how she had figured out he was the Demon Sovereign, nor why she was so confident that she could get a demon to openly name him.
But—
Cunning as Yun Jin was, she'd still overlooked one crucial fact.
Before absolute power—
All schemes and conspiracies were meaningless.
She thought exposing him meant victory?
No. It was a straight path to death.
Yang Yun couldn't even be bothered to watch the upcoming slaughter.
With two Mahayana-stage cultivators on his side, these people from Tianxing Sect were nothing more than meat on a butcher's block. They had never even been worth his attention. He remained distracted, almost bored.
Until—
A scorching wall of fire suddenly erupted across the battlefield, blocking the black-clad attackers in front of Tianxing Sect's disciples. In an instant, it formed a massive blazing barrier.
Yang Yun narrowed his eyes and turned sharply to look.
What was this?
Such overwhelming power!
The next moment—
A brawny, red-haired man appeared before the crowd.
It was none other than the long-awaiting lava dragon—Lao Huo.
Lao Huo grinned wickedly at the black-clad men, clearly itching for a fight. Two Mahayana-stage, five Tribulation-stage. Not much, but enough to whet his appetite.
The lava dragon clan was innately war-hungry. But thanks to their odd dormancy traits, they rarely had the chance to battle freely.
After over a thousand years, Lao Huo had been bottling it in for far too long.
This time—
With Young Master's order in hand, he could finally go all out.
"Senior, I leave it to you," Yun Jin said calmly.
"Young Master, don't worry. Not one of them is getting away," Lao Huo replied, flashing his sharp white teeth.
"Arrogant fool!" sneered one of the black-clad figures, immediately summoning a black curved blade—an extremely vicious artifact. Even a Mahayana-stage demon had once been gravely injured by this weapon and never fully recovered.
But Lao Huo merely snorted, unmoving.
Clang!
The blade struck his body directly, letting out a sharp hum.
As for Lao Huo himself?
Not even a scratch.
The black-clad man's pupils contracted.
When the weapon struck, he'd seen it—scales had emerged on the man's body.
"You're—" he began to speak.
But Lao Huo wasn't interested in conversation. In a flash, he was upon him. His fingers morphed into sharp claws and plunged straight into the man's skull.
This black-clad figure was Mahayana-stage, yet he had no chance to resist. His demon core was gouged out right then and there.
Lao Huo eyed the core with disgust and tossed it aside. Then he lunged toward the next. He was just one person, yet faced with this crowd, he was like a living slaughterhouse. He didn't even use any killing techniques. Just a simple swipe of his claw—and every time, a demon core went flying.
As he grew more excited, Lao Huo revealed his true form: a colossal dragon stretching across the sky. One swing of his tail sent another Mahayana-stage cultivator flying, vomiting blood mid-air before crashing lifelessly to the ground.
From beginning to end, there hadn't been the slightest room for resistance.
The members of Tianxing Sect stood stunned.
"Xiao Jin... this is...?" Lin Ya asked, unable to hold back.
Yun Jin smiled. "He's Wushuang Sect's guardian spirit beast."
Wushuang Sect's guardian beast...
Seeing the lava dragon not even using his full power, everyone fell silent.
The image they'd seen before—just the tip of the iceberg.
This was the dragon's first appearance.
Bai Yu Long stared at the overwhelming lava dragon, a dazed expression in his eyes.
He too was a spirit beast.
Also a dragon.
But compared to this one... there was simply no comparison.
That oppressive feeling made it clear—the dragon before him was a true supreme spirit beast.
In an age without divine beasts, supreme spirit beasts were the highest existences.
And yet, Bai Yu Long couldn't even identify what kind of dragon Lao Huo was.
Judging purely by combat strength, this dragon might even be at the peak of all supreme beasts.
The foundation of Wushuang Sect... was terrifying.
Bai Yu Long looked at Yun Jin, his gaze growing warmer.
He had helped her before due to Ling Fei's request.
But after seeing Lao Huo—
His thoughts had shifted completely.
A dragon-type supreme beast. If he could gain even a little guidance, perhaps he could advance as well. And such a terrifying being actually obeyed Yun Jin's command.
Bai Yu Long felt suddenly fortunate.
Thanks to Ling Fei, he had always stood on Yun Jin's side.
Others, however, stared at the discarded demon cores on the ground, visibly shaken.
Demon race.
They really were demons.
Besides their aura, the biggest difference between humans and demons was this: demons had a core inside their skulls.
This was the source of their power—like a Yuányīng for humans.
Now—
The lava dragon had ripped those cores out one by one. It was undeniable proof: these people were demons. But just moments ago, not a trace of demonic aura had leaked from them. Some of the more perceptive ones couldn't hide their shifting expressions.
If demons could perfectly suppress their aura...
Then how many were already embedded within the human race?
How long had they been lurking?
What roles had they taken?
How deep did it go?
Even thinking about it made their skin crawl.
Some couldn't help recalling those disciples from Qingxiao Pavilion. They hadn't been demons, but after death, traces of demonic energy had emerged. Most likely, they had colluded with demons—or worse, already fallen to evil.
Those disciples had hidden it so well. Could their methods be the same as these demons?
Unless killed, utterly undetectable?
But murder couldn't be the standard method of discovery.
The implications were terrifying.
Just how deeply had the demon race already infiltrated humanity?

Because my babies have been clamoring for me to pick up another yuri novel, I decided to do it right now (´。• ᵕ •。`) ♡ Since I already finished translating "The Invincible Money-Grubbing Fairy," that freed up one slot. This new project will be a modern setting yuri, and just like "My Cold-Hearted Boss Wants to Marry Me," it's another short novel.
That said, I should be honest with you: yuri isn't my main focus. I'll still translate yuri, but the frequency won't be that high. If you'd like me to add more yuri projects, I'll definitely consider it—but only if the requests reach my "minimum slot." How many requests do I need? That's a secret of course (๑•̀ㅂ•́)و✧
On another note, I'm also starting a new apocalypse-themed project, since "Mom's Apocalypse Survival Log" is almost fully translated. The difference this time is that the new novel is one of my personal favorites. I've literally reread it 5–6 times already, and it has over 1000 chapters serialized!
Both of these newly picked projects are still going through the book vetting process. I'll update you all once they're approved and available on my profile. Please look forward to it~ (ノ≧∀≦)ノ
